My bishop today gave me the homework assignment to find out what "Glory" is.
And based on the little bit we talked about I'm already very frustrated.
Like, aaaarrrrggghhh
There's so much.
And the problem is I want to do this far more than my actual homework. A multi-hour long scripture hunt sounds really fun right now, instead of doing chemistry practice problems that I learned last year.
And I need to sleep.
But what is glory I need to know this now

Glory is like fame, but a more honorable version of it. Glory is what you get when you are known for doing good things. When you make yourself known, you have fame. When someone else makes you known, you get a different kind of fame - glory.
That's my definition, but here's what Bing says!
glo·ry[ˈɡlôrē]NOUN-
magnificence or great beauty:"the train has been restored to all its former glory"
-
praise, worship, and thanksgiving offered to a deity.

In our religion, the word "glory" is used to mean this, but also a lot more. There are scriptures that say things like "the glory of God is intelligence" and " 'this is my work and my glory - to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.' " Our understanding of heaven also has different degrees of glory, meaning that different people will dwell in a place with a different amount of glory depending on how they lived.
So this is the question; what is it really, in the eternal sense? Is it something you have? Is it something you dwell in? Is it something you are? How does one gain glory? What does it let you do? Why does God have glory? Is that what makes him God? Is Glory light? Truth? Intelligence? Does Glory come from God? Where does it come from, if not? Do we have glory right now, just on a much lower level?
Things like that.
