Thanks for the explanations and quotes I've never picked up on those subtleties, but they're super interesting

@Treamayne ah that's, awesome, thank you so much I totally glanced over those details when reading and listening to the stories For the bullet that is quite comprehensible since it is made from different parts, but usually perceived as a whole. But I have difficulties understanding how this works for Kelsier's bars or what exactly Zane is doing. Is the latter mentally splitting the coin into different parts, let's say into individual numbers or symbols on the coin? Or are the coins made from different distinct metals, like a 1 or 2 Euro coin? But if so, where is the median point of each part, shouldn't they overlap in the dead center of the coin? As for Kelsiers bars, if he mentally splits them into tip - main body - tip (that still sounds like a stretch to me, but I can live with that) ... how far does it go? Like, would one be able to split a bar (or any object for that matter) into let's say 20 different equal parts and influence each of them separately? Is that what Zane is doing? So many questions

Could you point me to when those are described? Because my first thought was that it shouldn't make a difference due to the sword/knife/whatever being perceived as one object, but I seem to have totally missed that part with the perception trick you mention in both Mistborn eras

Three Fantasies: Tales from the Cosmere
PanicPug replied to lacrossedeamon's topic in The Coppermind Wiki
This might not be the right place for the discussion, but reading your posts a thought occured to me: at the moment the Coppermind is a Sanderson Wiki though with a focus on the Cosmere. With the name Coppermind explicitly being linked to the Cosmere, would it maybe make sense to split the Wiki into two separate ones? One (the "Coppermind") for Cosmere stuff and maybe a "Sanderson" one for everything else? Though in the case of the covers you are discussing, this might convolute it even more (not to mention the work that would be needed to split the Wiki)- 11 replies

Would it be possible to put a visual distinction (maybe a line or a larger space or something like that) between the Cosmere and non-Cosmere works on the Welcome page? In the same section the books' or series' titles are kind of non-uniform. For example some are using the full title (like The Emperor's Soul or Sixth Of The Dusk) while others are abbreviated (like Tress (Tress Of The Emerald Sea) or Stormlight Archive (The Stormlight Archive))

Probably the Aethers homeworld? Maybe also U'Tol. It seems to be somewhat famous in the Space Age. There's a quote in Yumi that could imply something along those lines. I'm not sure I agree with Braize though, since the planet is barren and devoid of life and only cognitive shadows live there iirc

Highmarshal Azure's Sword, a theory and questions
PanicPug replied to Rand-Al-Thaidakar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think Shardblades turning skin grey isn't that out of the ordinary, right? And if I remember correctly the Nalthian blades were inspired by Shardblades in the first place. So maybe, just like those, the commands for Azure's blade lead to it cutting in all three realms (PR, CR, SR)?- 9 replies

It's been a while since I read and listened to the Mistborn books (including Secret History), but if I remember correctly: I think it's explained in Secret History, though I might misremember; as I said, it's been a little while.

Kind of related question: how are there so many Breaths and so few Drabs in the first place? Every person is just born with a single breath, but as we see in the book/s Breaths are used for awakening and probably quite a few of those not reclaimed (if I remember correctly, you can only reclaim your own Breaths from an object), consumed by the Returned in the Court Of Gods and outside of it, or just lost when people die from natural or unusual causes... Like where do all those tons of breaths come from? There's the God King's wealth, many of the priests with heightenings, apparently not too few characters with a enough Breaths for perfect colour recognition (e.g. probably many artists and artisans) and the wealthy folk in general, but from how it sounded to me, the amount of Drabs isn't extremely high? I might have missed something in the book or it might have been answered elsewhere, but I just remembered that when I read your previous posts regarding Breath economics.

Illustration descriptions for missing illustrations
PanicPug replied to PanicPug's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes, the Ambush description I heard as well. I read the book first and then listened to the audiobook. That's why I was so confused about the sunheart illustration descriptions because I couldn't remember matching illustrations (nor could I find them when looking for them after I heard the descriptions). And you're right regarding the mistake on the Coppermind, good catch I went and quickly remedied that. -
Ah I see, I wasn't aware of that, thank you So let's hope we'll get the Nalthis essay and additional ones for the new worlds and more of those beautiful charts soon

Thank you, that's great to know (though like with everything Cosmere hard to sit still and wait for ) From what they said it sounds like they'll focus on a new or updated Constellation map rather than the Star Charts or am I likely misunderstanding that? Also I had slight hopes, that we might get them before AU2 since we got the Nalthian one already, which from what I could gather was originally planned for AU2 as well. It would be extra nice since we'd also get symbols/icons for those new worlds as well. But all in due time I hope

Since I couldn't find anything on the topic: is there any information about further Star Charts besides the 7 existing ones (Drominad, Nalthian, Rosharan, Scadrian, Selish, Taldain, Threnodite). Has anyone heard anything about charts for the other systems on whose planets recent stories were set (Lumar's system, U'Tol System and Canticle's)?

1. Yumi And The Nightmare Painter I enjoyed the story and the mistery of the worlds very much and read through the whole thing in a day. What put it on the top of my list however was how incredibly perfect the artwork fits the story. The style (in all its three variations: b/w, slightly coloured and full colour) looks so fantastic and perfectly matched the descriptions in the story and the overall design of the book was just perfect in my opinion. 2. Tress Of The Emerald Sea Close second to Yumi. While I actually preferred the story and writing style a bit more in Tress, I felt the illustrations were a bit inconsistent and not as close to the story and descriptions in the story (e.g. Tress' varying faces or someone's missing mullet). In the same vein, I love much about the overall design of the book, but felt that there were some small points that irked me a bit (e.g. I love the growing chapter numbers, but it bothered me that something similar to the red/black transition wasn't used for the green/red change). In the end they're minor flaws (and also very subjective) and all in all I absolutely love the book. And since it's also a great new starting point for the Cosmere, I probably won't stop recommending it to others any time soon. 3. The Sunlit Man Also really enjoyed that one. Canticle is such a creative planet and one of my favourites in the Cosmere so far (though same goes for Lumar and Komashi) and I really enjoyed the glimpse into the far future as well as the story overall (though it had me somewhat worried with some of the implications). While I also quite like the illustrations here (the sketches as well as the full colour ones), the overall design could've been a bit more interesting I think. Nonetheless it's solid (and again, Yumi and Tress are absolute bangers in that regard). 4. Frugal Wizard It was fun, but tbh I wasn't really interested in it since it wasn't Cosmere related. (All that said, there seems to be another one on the horizon now, so maybe we'll have to update these posts next year )

In The Sunlit Man audiobook I stumbled over two illustration descriptions that I can't find the corresponding illustrations to. At the end of chapter 17 there are three descriptions back to back: 1. "A red Sunheart. It resembles a glowing red and orange gemstone with roughly carved, uneven facets." 2. The description of the illustration "Ambush" 3. "A black Sunheart, it's power consumed." While the Ambush illustration is in the eBook and on Sanderson's site, I can't find either of the Sunheart illustrations anywhere.

For me the Omnibus Edition improves on the original graphic novels in pretty much every aspect. There's the Ars Arcanum pages, additional chapters for Kriss and Kenton, and also expands on Trackt Ais' character. It has re-written/improved texts overall, improved art and in some parts even rearranged panels, more consistency in art and writing in general (e.g. small details like the sash colours of the sand masters now have a system to them and there are fewer bald sand masters, which makes it easy easier to understand who's who; also Kenton doesn't seem to become ever lighter skinned during the course of the GNs anymore). The story, especially with focus on the (slightly altered from the original) finale, comes full circle now and feels more rounded altogether. And as I understood they also got rid of all the wrong background elements (like boom boxes, electricity etc.) though I didn't check. While the original felt quite clunky in parts, the updated version feels way more rounded and finished and I like it a lot, so I'd now definitely recommend it (over the original, but also in its own). Edit: My main gripe with the digital version is probably the non interactive table of contents! And generally that all the text has been embedded into the pictures instead of remaining in text format (which makes it harder to quote anything, e.g. for the Coppermind).

Questions for Secret Project #3 Spoiler Stream
PanicPug replied to Fritochip's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It didn't get asked, but was still answered indirectly through another question relating to the "interdimensional storyteller" quote. It starts at 1:38:37 in the stream: Brandon: "... No time travel to the past, no multiverse. These are two of my big no-no's in the Cosmere." Here's the link to the video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=5917&v=F_DfnDkblNQ&feature=youtu.be (Also: How can I remove that quote or spoiler container on mobile?) -
Questions for Secret Project #3 Spoiler Stream
PanicPug replied to Fritochip's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Are Yumi and Painter living at the same time? Because until shortly before the end of the preview chapters to me it read more and more, like Yumi's and Painter's planet might be the same at different points in time (Yumi pre- and Painter post-apocapypse)
