The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
clowncarcrash replied to Lighteyed Lieutenant's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think Hoid is practiced enough to win a serious fight. He might have knowledge to do something unprecedented with the powers he has. I think you have to have the will of a killer to do well in such a fight. -
I'm currently reading this. I saw this attatched meme and that it was hilarious so I watched the youtube video in question. And the theme/argument is really really fascinating to me, whether love matters more than truth. Is escapism valid, can you gaslight yourself to get over trauma. Which is an interesting proposition since a lot of media I like is about confronting that head-on, like Persona's bit about the Jungian confronting of the shadow and Shallan confronting her truths in Stormlight. I'm also engaged in a lot of reading/watching of delusional conspiracy nuts by watching the Youtube series of Folding Ideas. Plus looking at how Grandpa acted in Episode 1, I'm really looking forward to see if the author can persuade me.

Can we update the contact info boxes in profiles
clowncarcrash replied to clowncarcrash's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Yeah I don't think the fields have any special scripts to open up MSN Messenger to open up the client to add people, its just a text field. -
Yumi and the Nightmare Painter Full Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
clowncarcrash replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I loved it. A lot of teenage cringe and romance. Really cool worldbuilding. One really unexplored aspect that I thought was quite interesting, that I wish Brandon but especially Wit to explore, is HOW IMPORTANT Stories are to people. Yeah Yumi is sheltered, but I feel her severance from culture and stories makes her life experience so limited. Yumi would benefit from the stories since she gets to experience multiple lives and learn how society really works. Even if she's this captive bird in a cage she'd have that escape and perspective. I don't think that was the main part or main theme of the story but thats a character beat I really found fascinating and wish that was explored. -
Anybody Else Unsatisfied with the Ending?
clowncarcrash replied to Underwater_Worldhopper's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I thought the ending was great. It was a good ending but there was still a paradigm shift. I am going to miss the shroud as part of the setting, but someone else posted before, theres a huge space of time where Brandon can go back to play with that. -
Am I the only one who doesn't hate Moash?
clowncarcrash replied to JessK's topic in Stormlight Archive
I hate him but I want him to become a better man. -
It's a cool premise, but I don't think its in the cards. I don't think an opposite shard is in play in the Rosharian system, and Odium is stuck in the system in the medium term. Maybe if Odium wins your theory could come into play if he goes elsewhere. Like if Part 2 relies on us tricking Odium to pick up Mercy or something.

I think raw powerwise a fullborn should win, but someone who has access to all 10 surges.... I think there's probably way more creative ways to win with those tools.

I have to wonder if there's a spiritual component to division. If you can connect with someone using connection, can you divide bonds, Nahel bonds or otherwise using this aspect?

Yeah, the only thing really missing is some sort of tether to your spirit web with Connection that might be solved with Scandrian medallion tech.

Unpopular Brandon Sanderson Opinions
clowncarcrash replied to not an Evil Librarian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Household name and SFF book circles seem pretty mutually exclusive to me. Household means the general public. Like grab 100 people off the street, they’ll know who George RR Martin, Tolkien, Rowling, Stephen King, Nicholas Sparks, Danielle Steel are etc. -
Could a Kandra Impersonate a Part of a Living Person?
clowncarcrash replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
I'm inclined to say no. Skin is just surface level uncomplicated tissue. I would think the Kandra's consciousness would be needed to keep an organ up and running for a long period of time if they're not in the body.- 9 replies

What exactly is the Shard's relationship with Brandon?
clowncarcrash replied to dannnex's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Oh, so its fully sanctioned/endorsed by Brandon but not owned by him or his company? -
You are thinking too small. We are 100% gonna be getting Bana with a redemption arc. You heard it here first.
-
I’d wager there will be one. It’s been a series staple, and the current cast seems pretty lean.

I think you’re asking about what justice would look like in anarchy. From what I gather looking at a preliminary google search, anarchy really emphasizes restorative justice. If there is antisocial behavior they look towards the system. I don’t think anarchy means no rules, its just means De-professionalized and de-centralized use of force and de-professionalized and de-centralized decision-making,

Hey everyone, I'm clown! I've been an avid reader of the cosmere for a few years. I didn't read much novels after high school. After a long hiatus I got into fantasy again with the Kingkiler Chronicle. After that, I picked up Mistborn and I've been obsessed with the cosmere ever since. Especially Oathbringer, a book I believe truly changed my life. I find myself saying words from Stormlight and especially Oathbringer like as if they were part of my rosary. I've mostly engaged with the community on twitter/reddit, but I figure I should invest more time in a forum since there are so many limits on social media, given how discussions and threads rot. I'm caught up to the cosmere barring White Sand and Dawnshard. I think I'm mostly interested in discussing the Emperor's Soul, because that book probably delves into the mechanizations and science of the cosmere the most. A lot of it went over my head!

1. Being Malkovich 2. Airplane 3. Pan's Labyrinth 4. Labyrinth 5. Step Brothers

And thats what makes it's relationship with Szeth and maybe Nale so interesting; these characters don't know what evil is. I'm hoping we see some Nightblood character development, but certainly it is going to serve as a useful foil.

I've never studied anarchy in school but I'd imagine organized religion brings hierarchy and a set of dogma that could dominate society. I can't imagine if we have an anarchist character they'd gel with anyone who subscribed to Vorinisim.
