  1. I'm now only fifteen thousand words behind on NaNo! That, and I got out of doing a midterm until Monday due to blizzard warnings. And my Dorm flooded. But I live on the second floor, so all's well.
  2. I must have missed that part. But I don't trust you. And oh. It was sort! That's right! I was kinda wondering why we would have ever trusted kaz with power that colossal. I require verification from someone other than you.
  3. Though I'm kind of thread-cromancing (did I just make that word up?), or at least topic-cromancing (that one I know I made up) since the thread isn't dead yet, I would also like to state my support for Miyabi blank post standard. Though we'd probably lose a few members when they got here and everything was that bright purple.
  4. They usually do come out early. Where'd you come across it? (I wants me some Alcatraz)
  5. Well. No. But it's pretty heavily implied, since everything we see of the Almighty is older than Hoid (note that this is me making up a figure of speech, so don't take it literally. Hoid happens to be the oldest person we know of who's still around in-universe).
  6. Um. No. I stole it, usurping you in the process. And then it got peaceably passed on. I think to little wilson and kaz. Though I'm not sure on that. At all.
  7. And the great part is, I can totally see this. MIYABI!!!! I'm kinda shocked you didn't give in and come visit over here a while ago. In any case, it shall be nice to have you around.
  8. We've had a large problem with spambots in the past. It's entirely possible that we were when you visited. It looks good when I head over now.
  9. You know, I was relatively sure I had put one up. But you are, in fact, correct. Hence my earlier confusion. Here's the link. https://thismessagewillselfdestruct.com/m/Cx6GygwvOwgy7Y
  10. When magicians drink Dr. Pepper, it induces hallucinations that are sometimes prophetic and sometimes completely unrelated to anything. A large group of people are devoted to sorting out the difference between the two. Also, most magicians go stark raving mad relatively quickly, since they're tripping on Dr. Pepper all the time to try to predict the future. Onesie pajamas and leather belts.
  11. I second this notion. Thoroughly.
  12. It's not. I had assumed that it was a different title for one of them, but this makes more sense. And I like it. Muchly much.
  13. And he was Hero of Ages for a while, too. Though we ousted him, so I'm not sure if the immortality from that's gone now.....
  14. Well, you're writing is rather clean for English not being your native language. In fact, considerably better than many native speakers I know. I doubt we'll have any problem forgiving you, as I doubt there will be too many errors to forgive. But even if there are, I doubt it'll matter much. We're a pretty forgiving group. Welcome to the forums! I'm excited to have you around!
  15. Spells are cast by breaking different combinations of different colors and shapes of glass. Orange glass is extremely valuable, because it's extremely difficult to get the right materials to color it orange and orange glass is also a magnifier of sorts for other colors - it makes the spells more powerful. Breaking a piece of glass shaped like the letter G causes the mage who broke it to grow, though which part of them grows is determined by the color of the glass. Theoretically, it's a bad idea to break any one color letter g unless you have several others. Air Freshener, mirrors, hand soap, and dvd drives. Yes, I might possibly have just walked past my bathroom before posting......
  16. So yesterday I wrote fifteen thousand words. I'm now where I should have been on like the thirteenth. Sweet. Onward....... But my story is getting to be pretty awesome. Namely, everything is completely different from what I had planned on writing, and honestly much better. This always happens to me. Not that I'm complaining. It just means that I really have no idea where my story's going except for a few specific things toward the end that'll be the same no matter what. And I have to agree, NaNo, as much as it's killing me, is really being a great time this year. Much more so than last year, when I was actually remotely on schedule. Go figure.
  17. I'm slightly shocked. A quick google search could solve all of your problems..... Seriously. But if you need more than that, certain youTube results might be your friend. And I also might have just pretty much spoonfed you this answer......
  18. abyss of everlasting
  19. death-inflicting flamingo bombs
  20. Well after Zas practically gave that one to us.... Anyway. New message up. Clue: 4 chords. No caps or spaces.
  21. But the glyphs may or may not be. I'd guess that it's more likely coincidence, but I can definitely see Brandon doing something like this as well. This is probably something where we'd be better asking him if the two are related or not first. If it's just a crazy random happenstance, he'll probably tell us.
  22. And why did it never occur to the rest of us that we could just ask? It might be time to revise our question asking policies...
  23. Pretty much. I will say, though, last year, I had virtually no plot to speak of. So I just kind of made stuff up as I went, then tried to think of ways to explain what was happening, motivations for the characters, etc. As a result, the worldbuilding and everything shifted dramatically over the course of the story, and I had to go back and make everything consistant again. But the story became muchly much better. The trick is just to get to know your characters and your world. Make up dialogue between characters, talking about something semi-significant, and you'll often find that the conversation takes weird turns you didn't expect. And then fun plot things happen. But mostly, don't let the fact that you don't know exactly what's going to happen discourage you from writing a scene. Yes, you'll probably have to revise it, but at least you'll have something to revise. And your story will be better for it. On a completely unrelated note, I'm falling increasingly behind for NaNo. Woo.
  24. I found House of Chains a lot harder than Midnight Tides - I just didn't care about Karsa at all for forever and a day. Once we got past the point where it was all from his point of view, I loved it. (House of Chains was my least favorite malazan book). Midnight Tides took some getting used to, what with the completely new culture, but I liked the characters much more and I was very interested in what was happening. Also, Tehol. And Kuru Qan (the spelling of which I doubt I got right. I'm referring to the Ceda). No more need be said. In the interest of this thread not turning into "Discuss Malazan Book of the Fallen," I'm currently reading The Darkness that Comes Before from R. Scott Baker. Being pretty good so far. Though it took me a while to get into.
