  1. This might be, I think it rings a bell.
  2. There is a mechanic involved in worldhopping that allows people to seemingly live longer than they otherwise would. I doubt worldhopping itself extends the lifespan, I would guess time simply flows at a lower rate in the Cognitive Realm. So you can be Galladon, leave Sel when you are, let's say 35, spend what looks like 300 years to the outside world inside the Cognitive Realm, pop out on Roshar, and be only a little older.
  3. Hmm, fascinating. It's what I would consider the most sensible explanation.
  4. Hmm. Finally a solid answer to this. The whole "depends how you count" has been bugging me for ages! I really need to sit down one of these days and walk myself through how Investiture and Identity play together in Feruchemy. My understanding is not as... natural as I would like it to be. For some reason reading this gives a better understanding of how things work in the Cosmere. I think we've been all kind of working under the assumption that this is the case, but confirmations are always nice. Plus, I had this pet theory a while back, that Einstein's famous E=mc2 would require an additional component, a term for the Investiture, in order to work in the Cosmere, and I am feeling pretty good about it right now. Also, all the Vasher & Stormlight questions are making me wonder if he could Awaken with Stormlight. It sounds like a pretty guaranteed RAFO though...
  5. Yeah, I guess I was doing that. She could be a... cousin to the modern Southerners.
  6. Of interest to me (so far?): The Bands of Mourning are less Invested than the Rosharan Shardblades, and by extension - less Invested than Nightblood. I suspected as much, but I like the confirmation. Iyatil is related to the Southern Scadrians, but not a contemporary of theirs. Given the concurrency of Era 1.5 and The Stormlight Archive, I am going to assume she was born at least a few centuries before Era 1.5, and is either very old by now, or can time jump forward. Brandon's "she is related to [the Southerners] in the same way I am Danish" doesn't make exact sense to me, as that would require her to be of Southerner descent, having been born centuries after Era 1.5, and so the timeline doesn't work. We've been really smug about all the stuff we've uncovered about the Cosmere, and magic, and Investiture, but apparently Brandon hasn't even dug into Investiture is. Well, at least I have been. Mizzy-centered sequel to The Reckoners if there is a sequel at all. Mizzy! Somebody else brought a stick too! Thief of intellectual property, face me!
  7. Unfortunately probably both...
  8. I've been thinking about gradually snatching copies of the UK editions of Brandon's books from the Book Depository, but I would like to find out how they sit on the shelf. Does anyone have most, or even all of them? Their covert art obviously runs along a similar theme, which is really nice, but do their heights match?
  9. Link for reference. The way it ends, it suggests heavily that Jasnah and Ivory left before Shallan got to try her hand at Soulcasting. And Jasnah did see her - kind of. It's all in the text
  10. I don't know if I remember enough from the previous seasons, but I would've focused more on the story of the world and less on the emotions of angsty teenagers. Half the things I remember about the show are related to Clark's love life. Now that I think about it, I wasn't happy with most of the characters - and because the show is so much about the characters, I ended up disliking the show itself.
  11. I had a similar idea a while back, but I used the themes of the voidforms to connect them with Radiant orders, not colors. See The Voidbringers Explained link in my signature if you want.
  12. I stopped after the end of the second season. There is too much about how the characters act that I don't like. The story, the concept of the show, looked promising in the beginning, but I felt it didn't go to the right places over the course of the first two seasons. There are better shows, and my time is not infinite.
  13. Some of this might become clearer in Mistborn: Secret History, as it reveals a lot about the inner workings of the Metallic Arts, but I believe the answer you are looking for is Connection. Which, without revealing too much, seems to be a Spiritual property representing how, well, connected people and things are. The reason Vin could Ascend to Preservation was because she was strongly Connected to it. The reason she could fuel her Allomancy with the mists - her Connection with Preservation. The reason she could, once she had Ascended, fuel Elend's Allomancy? Her Connection with him. And so on.
  14. You know about as much as all of us. Very soon after this chapter someone is going to tell David that Abraham doesn't like talking about his past, and the topic is going to drop.
  15. I don't see how seeing into the Cognitive Realm would grant those who are about to die any kind of future insight though. We've now spent quite a bit of time in Scadrial's Cognitive Realm, and it's only a little more interesting than the Physical. The only time we see any kind of foretelling is when Leras grabs Kelsier and, as I understood it, allowed him to see into the Spiritual Realm. That I could maybe accept as related to the death rattles.
  16. Reactions available here and here.
  17. It's from the original post included in the one I linked, down to where the numbers are.
  18. Looks like the transcript is not yet finished (the "lightning round" is missing, for example). Can someone take a look at this, I am too busy these days
  19. Ha, I was correct about the cover! And I don't know, where have you been?
  20. Can you share browser, OS, and maybe a screenshot?
  21. Brandon published a blog about this, and it has a pretty (fake) cover too!
  22. Thanks for the clarification, Peter! <3
  23. That's where the links should be taking you, yeah. Easiest way is to probably just search for Brandon Sanderson there.
  24. Can you go to http://www.graphicaudio.net ?
  25. I imagine he snagged one as he was about to go into the Beyond and held onto to it somehow.
