  1. Souther thing occurs to me. Two things actually. First, the Black Piper. If I am correct in assuming the Unmade are the listeners' gods, and the Black Piper is one of them, then "the tune no man can hear" could very well be one of the new Rhythms. The Death Rattle also says that "he holds us in his palm," which would refer to the forceful control the Unmade have over the Parshendi. Second, the ketek spoken by the illiterate Herdazian could refer to the revelation that the Almighty is dead. "Above the Silence" is still a mystery to me, but the "illuminating storms - dying storms" could be the highstorms that bring light, illuminate the gemstones and spheres; those storms bring the knowledge ("illuminate") that there is nobody up in the heavens to listen to mortal prayers ("the silence above").
  2. Really? You thought he would answer the question about the lerasium bead? You funny you. But it's pretty cool that he'll be in the Mistborn Sci-Fi. Kind of makes sense, with them traveling all over the cosmere, but cool nonetheless.
  3. Aaa, you got Rambodin picture! I am not sure what you mean by the "too still pool of water" - the Shardpool (i.e. the places where Shardic power seeps through in the physical realm, like the Pits of Hathsin for Ruin). If so, then we almost have it confirmed that one of the Shardpools is on the Hornpeaks, which is pretty awesome.
  4. We don't actually know that Nalan's companion is Kalak - the evidence for that is even flimsier than the evidence we had for Nalan. It's a hypothesis I support, but it's far from certain.
  5. I am promoting discussion about details here, not asking for answers
  6. We don't know any of this. First, Shadesmar might not even have a sun - it could be some other source of light our characters interpret as a sun. Second, we don't know whether it's hot or cold, because none of the visitors talk about temperature in Cognitive Realm. And finally we don't know whether it's setting, rising, or stationary near the horizon.
  7. For consistency (and sanity), could you use one of the other threads on the same topic we already have? I can remember seeing at least three different ones =\
  8. Which, combined with how the Herdazian speech patterns and general mannerisms seem to be inspired by their Mexican counterparts, suggests that Kaladin is, in fact, frowning upon a burrito. Kaladin, you heathen, you!
  9. Several members have tried it out, but it doesn't seem to work out. Then again, nothing else seems to work out, so maybe we are just not trying hard enough...
  10. I like most of your idea, but I don't know whether Brandon & co. would go to such length. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but I kind of doubt it.
  11. We suspect they are a collection from the different Shardworlds, but this is not confirmed.
  12. I should point out that we don't really know which of those things are boons, and which are curses. Dalinar's memory loss could be a boon - he could've gone there and asked to have the memories of his wife removed because they were too painful. So let's not assume too many things.
  13. Icons for new replies are also back, but [Full Reply] is now broken (it looks like the Quick Reply I described, all plain text-y). And of course server upgrade should be a priority, but you asked for a list of broken things, and list you got.
  14. It could be many things. Many Middle Eastern countries have doners (and I was under the impression that it's originally from there), and Mexico has graciously given us burritos.
  15. We don't know that this assumption is safe though. And everything pretty much hinges on it - if this were the case, then sure, it seems pretty obvious that the Recreance was a response to it. But we don't know that.
  16. Yea, story of my life right there.
  17. Fair enough, I can agree about Navani's hair. It doesn't work for me, but I can say that the reason is with my ideas, not the art. Obviously the situation is the same with Shallan. As for your next drawings, I think Jasnah is an obvious choice. Maybe Szeth and Syl too. And Rock.
  18. Frankly, we don't have anything near an answer to most of those questions... Until not-so-long ago we all assumed that the Stormfather was just another name, a title, for Jezrien. Some had gone as far as to claim that Jezrien took on most Honor's power after the Splintering and his consciousness now resides in the Cognitive Realm as the being we know as the Stormfather, while the Herald's physical body is left to (metaphorically) rot; supporters of this theory usually believe that Szeth met Jezrien on his way to assassinate Gavilar. I am inclined to agree with this theory, but I also realize it's not without issues. First and foremost, if Jezrien's consciousness is the Stormfather, how is it that Bondsmiths from the Silver Kingdoms bonded with it (and we know at least one bonded, because it's heavily implied that the Stormfather survived the Recreance despite the severing of his bond)? So I guess I no longer support this theory. I just changed my mind. I can't come up with anything coherent enough to explain everything about those two - there has to be a connection, because so many cultures associate one with the other, but I can't imagine what it could be.
  19. That's interesting. Not entirely unexpected, but interesting still. It even makes sense, now that I think about it - we have two big problems in The Stormlight Archive - one, the (Last) Desolation is coming, and two, our protectors, the Heralds, are missing. So it makes sense for the two five-book arcs to (mainly) address one of those each.
  20. This is something that has been bothering me for a long time, and with Words of Radiance out, my... not concern, but quandary, let's say, has only grown. Specifically, I wonder how exact the Immortal Words, the Radiants' Ideals, have to be. The First Ideal, "Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination." sounds pretty solid, and I can't imagine it morphing into anything, even if it's related. But the others? Considering that at least one Order doesn't have set-in-stone rules (the Lightweavers who must speak Truths, not Ideals), is it wise to treat all of them the same way? Kaladin's Windrunner Ideals and Lift's "I will remember those who have been forgotten." could maybe work for all the members of their Orders, but Dalinar's? Shallan's? Lastly, there is the issue of the Stormfather officially accepting Kaladin's and Dalinar's Second Ideals. Does he get input with the Orders whose spren are closer to Honor than to Cultivation? Does he even have a choice on the matter - can he deny a Radiant's upgrade even if he or she speaks the correct Words? And if so, we loop back around - are there specific Words each (or at least some) Order must speak, or are they tailored individually? So let's take a stab at this. How do you think this will work? Do all of the Ideals offer some flexibility, or are there some that are set-in-stone, and some that are left to the Radiant's personality flaws?
  21. Ash was pretty much confirmed to be a nickname for Shalash - I will need to find the exact quote, but I remember somebody used the two interchangeably somewhere. Also, a friend of point pointed out that maybe Shalash is not destroying art of herself because of guilt - maybe she is going it to make sure nobody recognizes her. Though why she has waited so long to go on her little quest is beyond me...
  22. @kaos, I assume you've checked your Spam folder? @Chaos, here are the things I see broken at the moment: * Quick Reply box doesn't have the formatting bar on top. The typeface of my reply is monospace, and formatting shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl+B for [ b ]-tag) don't work. * Unsurprisingly, quoting doesn't work in Quick Reply either. If I hit the
  23. I believe this thread is mostly a duplicate of this one. Let's use the one that already exists.
  24. Hmm, this is interesting. I had been under the impression that the Unmade are free to move around, but maybe at least some of them are trapped in similar voidspheres. And it fits my idea that it is the Unmade who are the Parshendi gods.
  25. I could agree that the Truthwatchers might get the most Cultivation-y spren, but there is only one Stormfather a Bondsmith can bond with, while there were at least three Bondsmith spren throughout history. We have to ask ourselves how unique the Stormfather is. Was he a one-of-a-kind spren before Honor's Splintering (after which he became even more powerful), or was he some more common variety. one of many, and it was the Splintering that gave him a ton of power, and therefore a ton of sentience? Because if it's the former, then you'll need another couple of spren with high concentration of Honor for the other Bondsmiths to bond with. If it's the latter, I could maybe see it work...
