  1. @Cayden, I don't think this is the case. As per a recent WoB, it is very hard (almsot impossible?) for humans to bond with voidspren in the way the Parshendi can.
  2. Assuming it is a gemheart. Anyway, maybe I am just not seeing what you guys are seeing. I am not contributing anything to the thread, so I'll go talk to my imaginary friends while you talk about imaginary gemhearts
  3. I must've missed this. It certainly does make a good case for the Unmade being Splintered souls instead of spren, though perhaps the two are not entirely different.
  4. Why, hello there. I dig the name.
  5. I don't know - it doesn't look like anything to me. It never did - the glowy thing is one of the main reasons I am happy the cover got updated. For all I know it shows Kaladin doing a Full Lashing on the ground in front of him. Or he accidentally dropped his sapphire broam in a puddle of water and is reaching to pull it out before Szeth comes and steals his lunch money. EDIT This is not a good example to me, book covers don't always depict actual scenes from the books. Szeth never stood on top of a pile of bodies, Kaladin never worse a red Rambo-band, and neither the highstorms nor the Everstorm are yellow.
  6. I am sorry, I wasn't clear enough. The problem with the Heralds is not so much that they are missing (which is a problem directly tied with the Last Desolation arc), but that it looks like they are going rogue. If this is the case then I could see the second arc being about dealing with them, the various factions of Roshar, and / or whatever else not directly a part of the Last Desolation might show up.
  7. Yea, I don't see it. I can kind of pretend it is a large gem, but I have to try. The perspective is weird to me.
  8. It kind of implicitly shows that we get to see some Voidbringers. It's a very minor thing, but it suggests that we get to see more about the Voidbringers than we did in TWoK.
  9. I am not so sure. One, the glowy thing on the cover really doesn't ring my gemheart bells - it looks too flat. I imagine gemhearts as really big uncut gems. And second, the scene where they bring it back could be there simply because it would look incredibly suspicious (to the reader) if Kaladin and Shallan killed a chasmfiend and then left the insanely valuable gemheart to just sit there.
  10. Technically, this could be easily circumvented by allowing dragons to shapeshift, which is a popular trope.
  11. We've had a couple of threads discussing the nature of the Stormfather, but the bottom line is that we don't know much. Syl probably refers to him when she says "my father" though, not Honor himself.
  12. The word "Voidbringer" is pretty heavily charged in Roshar. It's being used in a number of different contexts, all negative, but not necessarily related. It seems that whenever somebody bad and unknown happens or is mentioned, the mythical Voidbringers are to blame.
  13. We haven't seen a Khriss - but we haven't seen much from the worldhoppers or Hoid's friends from Yolen. It's possible that he is the recipient of his TWoK letter, but we don't really have any evidence for that (or anything else, for that matter).
  14. Oh, hmm, I hadn't noticed that actually... Refer to my replies there for content.
  15. Because I don't want to spend another 45 minutes listening to stuff I've already listened to - do you or the sphere make an appearance?
  16. Aha, Dreamstorm! I couldn't remember his name for the longest time... Also, as of today the number of shirtless men in your drawings far outweighs the number of shirtless women. I call sexism, bias, and severe subjectivity. You artists are such an inconsiderate lot, I swear... ...but then again, even shirtless cosmere characters are still cosmere characters, so my heart is not in the complaints.
  17. Oh, hmm. Perhaps my sarcastic comment was out of line - I was under the impression that this is nothing new. In this case, woot woot!
  18. I am not sure he wanted to keep it a secret - though that's certainly possible. I figured that, for some reason, writing in this way felt more efficient and not really hindering to his beefed up mind. Maybe because of the constraints on the amount of writing material he had access to?
  19. Shalash's statue missing from Gavilar's palace. Multiple pieces of art with a female Herald missing throughout both books. Fits the first half of the profile from the TWoK Chapter 55: “A woman sits and scratches out her own eyes. Daughter of kings and winds, the vandal.” Shalash was confirmed by Brandon to be Jezrien's (who, regardless of whether he is actually connected to the Stormfather is often associated with him) daughter. At this point we've all grown accustomed to treating Baxil's mistress as Shalash, so I don't even remember all evidence behind it...
  20. If you can't open the spoiler tags, by the way, you can hit the
  21. No, the Reshi Islands - the tai-na - are enormous greatshells, this much we know. Nothing in the description really suggests stone, so as far as I am concerned, there is nothing linking them to the thunderclasts.
  22. It's Orders (or orders) - I wrote that originally, and then it looked weird for some reason, so I "fixed" it...
  23. I never quite the whole "cracks in the soul" thing - it felt to me like people were taking it too literally. I always interpreted it to be similar to similar to how Allomantic Snapping works. You get put under a lot of stress, you get really creative about ways to save your skin - and if your sDNA allows it, you might gain access to magic. Of course, the whole "under a lot of stress" might translate into the Spiritual Realm as "cracks in the soul," but I won't go there...
