  1. Ooooh, neat, I didn't notice most of that, but yeah, that is all quite obvious. I only noticed Mishim and Mishram being very close to eachother, but not the Ba-Bah, Ado-Adoda, or Maram-Merem.
  2. 1: No, they are not. They get from one point to another faster than light would, but this is due to changing spacetime geometry around them to reduce the distance that they travel. Therefore, it does not break the Laws of relativity and is a valid solution to Einstein's Field Equations. Therefore, it is not true FTL, it only seems FTL compared to standard Spacetime geometry. 2: From what I read they produce a great degree of heat, I would have to find the papers I found on it. Nevermind, easier than I thought, it got mentioned on wikipedia as well. "A 2009 article by Carlos Barceló, Stefano Finazzi, and Stefano Liberati uses quantum theory to argue that the Alcubierre drive at faster-than-light velocities is impossible mostly because extremely high temperatures caused by Hawking radiation would destroy anything inside the bubble at superluminal velocities"
  3. Yeah, we know for certain that Sel isn't Yolen. My theory is that Yolen might be somewhere in the Scar. The red is related to corrupted Investiture, which might have been all created and spread around the Scar during the Shattering. That is at least how I think of it.
  4. Well, the only way I can think of without Magic, and without uber advanced technology, is just normal Worldhopping. We could tell from other WoBs that the "FTL" isn't going to be true FTL, but rather be like an Alcubierre Drive taking advantage of Bendalloy and Chromium, which I believe will somehow be made to effect space itself, as Time and Space are basically the same, so it makes sense if it is able to effect Space somehow. Maybe through using Duralumin or Nicrosil, or maybe just Intent. This can let one bring about both the expansion and compression required to fit the Metric. Alcubierre Drives would produce a lot of heat, which could be dealt with by Brass Feruchemy.
  5. Thank you, and yeah, I like the pattern of putting shi at the end of them all, it is quite nice.
  6. Thanks, but can you please give the transliterations of the Orders if it isn't too much of a bother?
  7. Thanks, and yeah, I can kinda see where they got Pride from, but yeah, not the best fit.
  8. Lower gravity would indeed help with being able to support itself with larger buildings, I was mostly bringing it up to show it is still, likely, too heavy even on Roshar. And there are Sibling stuffs going on with it.
  9. Yes, the tallest building currently is Burj Khalifa. Though some planned buildings are a bit taller. Also, if anyone wants to bring up how Urithiru should be crushed by its own weight, this is brought up in Dawnshard with Rysn wondering why the lower floors don't collapse under the weight of the higher floors. It is also brought up in Oathbringer how the amount of land given wouldn't normally be able to feed the intended population of the building, which fits with calculations done on another Thread which I can't find. It is all due to Sibling shenanigans.
  10. Thanks, added them. And yeah, thought Preservation would be Conservacion. I do know some Spanish, though it isn't the best, had Spanish Class years ago and it wasn't the best. Teacher was very nice, but didn't teach that well. My Japanese is much better than my Spanish. I do recall seeing the German translation of Edgedancer, and it was like, Dancer of the Abyss if translated into English, and like, sounds a lot edgier than the more elegant connotations intended with Edgedancer.
  11. This is leaving me curious, what do they use for the translation for Honor, Cultivation, and Odium? Or some things like the Orders and Surges?
  12. I was curious in seeing what the names of Shards are in other languages. as in the official translations. Note, some of the Translations are not exactly the same as the English meaning, look at the comments below to see the actual meaning of some of them. Devotion (English) | Devotion (German) | 奉獻 (fèng xiàn) (Chinese) | Oddanie (Polish) Dominion (English) | Dominium (German) | 統治 (tǒng zhì) (Chinese) | Dominacja (Polish) Preservation (English) | Conservación (Spanish) | Bewahr (German) | 保存 [Hozon] (Japanese) | 存留 (cún liú) (Chinese) | Zachowanie (Polish) Ruin (English) | Ruin (German) | 破壊 [Hakai] (Japanese) | 滅絕 (miè jué) (Chinese) | Zniszczenie (Polish) Odium (English) | Odium (Spanish) | Odium (German) | 憎悪 (オディウム) [Zouo] (Japanese) | 憎惡 (zēng è) (Chinese) | Odium (Polish) Cultivation (English) | Bebauerin (German) | 養成 (カルティヴェイション) [Yousei] (Japanese) | 培養 (péi yǎng) (Chinese) | Pielęgnacja (Polish) Honor (English) | Honor (Spanish) | Ehr (German) | 誇り (オナー) [Hokori] (Japanese) | 榮譽 (róng yù) (Chinese) | Honor (Polish) Endowment (English) | Dotación (Spanish) | Gabe (German) | 捐助 (juān zhù) (Chinese) Autonomy (English) | 自主 (zì zhǔ) (Chinese) | Niezależność (Polish) Ambition (English) | Ehrgeiz (German) | 野心 (yě xīn) (Chinese) | Ambicja (Polish) Harmony (English) | 和諧 (hé xié) (Chinese) | Harmonia (Polish) Invention (English) | Invention (German) Mercy (English) | Piedad (Spanish) | Gnade (German) Valor (English) | Mut (German) Whimsy (English) | Schrulle (German) Truthwatcher (English) | Vigilante de la verdad (Spanish) Windrunner (English) | Corredor/a del viento (Spanish) Skybreaker (English) | Rompedor/a del cielo (Spanish) Bondsmith (English) | Forjador/a de vínculos (Spanish) Elsecaller (English) | Nominador/a de lo otro (Spanish) | Aufscheiner (German) Stoneward (English) | Custodio/a de piedra (Spanish) Lightweaver (English) | Tejedor/a de luz (Spanish) | Lichtweber (German) Dustbringer (English) | Portador/a del polvo (Spanish) Edgedancer (English) | Danzante del filo (Spanish) | Die Tänzerin am Abgrund (German) | Tancerka Krawędzi (Polish) Willshaper (English) | Escultor/a de la voluntad (Spanish) Dawnshard (English) | Odprysk Świtu (Polish) Connection (English) | Identity (English) | Investiture (English) |
  13. I was answering the last question they said, which was about Towerlight. My mistake for not being clear. I feel Love wouldn't be it, it does make sense, but they rejected Odium when singing Love, so it seems to be another Rhythm.
  14. So far it is only deemed as Towerlight and thus Rhythm of the Tower, due to the connection of Honor and Cultivation mixing to create the Sibling, and how Sibling basically is the Tower, it is fitting.
  15. Well, he appears to still be bound by the Contract of the Contest of Champions. So, just Dalinar needs to defeat the Champion Taravangian chooses. Iirc.
  16. Odium is more like Passion in general, as shown by Ashertmarn and Neargoul, mixed with Rayse's own words, and Dalinar upon experiencing the true essence of Odium. So maybe we can fix it by killing Taravangian and having a more sane and moral individual take it up, which would effect the exact manifestation of the Intent, as it did with Ruin becoming entropy and decay instead of pure destruction due to Ati being a better person.
  17. As I see it: Nergaoul is to Dustbringers and Chanarach. The trait is Brave, and the Thrill does give one a great degree of Bravery Sja-anat sees herself as healing and she is said to love her children. Even Brandon said it could be seen as healing https://wob.coppermind.net/events/467/#e14721. Thus she seems to connect to Edgedancers and Vedel Moeloch seems to be Truthwatchers, as a corrupted Mistspren, Glys, gave the ability to see the future. And it is a corruption of learned and giving. Allowing one to learn of the future, and giving them the ability to do so. Re-shepir seems to be connected to Lightwavers and Shalash, she creates things and all. She also makes pale and monstrous initiations (dishonest), and fears Lightweavers Ashertmarn makes people abandon responsibilities (not dependable) and waste resources through indulgence (not resourceful) so seems to apply to Stonewards and Talenel Ba-ado-Mishram seems to be connected to Bondsmiths and Ishar, with how connected she is with Connection, and also she seems to be one who gives guidance to those she connects to, like the Guiding Trait of Ishi So we still have Chemoarish and Dai-Gonarthis to go over. Which would fit with either: Skybreakers and Nale or Elsecallers and Battar
  18. OB I-13 is still displayed when I mark Spoilers: WoR
  19. So we know there are Four Dawnshards and 16 Shards, and the Akinah Mural implied they could be seperated into four groups of four. And we do know that the Shards were to some degree effected by the Dawnshards (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/456/#e14677) We know one of the Dawnshards is Change, this can be connected to Ruin and Cultivation, Endowment, possibly Invention If another is the opposite of this, like how Allomantic Metals have opposites in a sense, we can assume Stasis. Which would connect to Preservation, possibly Honor, Change: Ruin: Is inevitable change and decay, entropy Cultivation: Lets people grow and advance Endowment: Resurrects and Gifts people to let them grow and change the future Invention: "the action of inventing something, typically a process or device." or "Creative Ability", these both fit very well with the idea of change and development Stasis: Preservation: Actively works to keep things in stasis and prevent change Honor: Is all about oaths and laws and keeping to them Dominion: Is possibly about keeping authority and having others function according to law This is all that I can think up for this so far, though Autonomy, Odium, Ambition, and Whimsy seem to possibly share traits of living for oneself and ones passions and desires.
  20. Oh yeah, I forgot that he was in an Amethyst Gem, so yeah, likely was a result of the Gem he was sealed in. But than again, Spren tend to prefer certain polestones, so it could still very much be intentionally sealed in Amethyst in particular.
  21. Actually, wouldn't Yelig-Nar be of Willshapers due to the fact that when Amaram bonded with it he began to transmute into and grow a bunch of Amethyst crystals, and Amethyst is associated with Kalak and Willshapers according to the Ten Essences.
  22. My thought it that maybe Odium played a part in it. But yeah, it is Braize. One question though that I am wondering, why he worked with some Shards and not betray them afterwards. This is something I have been curious about for a while. But it isn't fully relevant to the current topic.
  23. Definitely not 2, Jasnah is asexual, implied in work and confirmed by WoB. 2 would really only be of active benefit to Hoid.
  24. I kinda think that Rock is already dead. He broke a law of his people, and left to go there, saying goodbye, and when Drehy and Skar returned, they said that he would never be coming back. I saw that as pretty heavily implying he might have been executed.
  25. Well, it could be an intentional choice that he cut out Adhesion and made himself 9 instead of 10. Which would explain the sudden 9 in a system of 10s. Or it could be due to the currently unknown system he originated on being 9-Based. Either can make sense. I also saw people add together the idea that he makes people feel a void of emotions to say that it is like the 10 being added to a removal of -1, the void, making it be 9. Forgot where I saw this theory.
