I am still, even now, in awe of the books that are Dune. Frank Herbert is by far one of the most amazing writers and imaginers of all time. the world he creates, the plots he weaves, just MMMM. the politics, the ecology, the religions, it just blends so wonderfully. im trying children of dune for the third time as I couldn't read it the first two because it fell apart for me. im finding it much better than before. yet somehow I still love Dune Messiah the most of all of them. Dune Messiah is fundamentally the opposite of its predecessor, Dune. Dune Messiah shows the falling of the moon that is Paul Atriedes that was so well built up in Dune. it shows his fall from the high pedestal that he built for himself. in the words of Frank Herbert himself, paraphrased "there could be no greater peril for the fremen than to fall into the hands of a hero" but I digress, Dune is the pinnacle of sci fi.
