  1. In one Q&A/interview/whatever it was stated that Worldbringers and Worldsingers have more in common than just a similar name. I would say that they're basically the same thing but that's more opinion. They do seem it though.
  2. Sci-fi: Hyperion Cantos (although the loose ends really bugged me) Fantasy: Black Company (god-tier low/dark fantasy) And to contradict my second choice and honestly not fanboyism here, the entire Cosmere is my favorite series because a meta-series is everything I've been looking for in a book series. When I found out the books were all connected my first thought was, "I didn't even know I HAD this fetish!"
  3. I wouldn't say SA would be completely before AoL since we don't know what exactly the gap between 5 and 6 will consist of. AoL could happen in that period. Maybe modern Mistborn will occur after all of SA.
  4. I believe Kaladin hates shardblades because of their association with lighteyes. I don't see too much further into that. Maybe in the future if shardblades are revealed to be Odium-born but now? Not so much.
  5. I can't find the post where it was mentioned but does the e-book version have a deleted prologue featuring Hoid? Also do you have any idea if we're allowed to add a timestamp beside the book and take a picture of it or something? I'm not very photogenic and don't like taking photos of myself.
  6. Lost... they could have done so much with that show. The first two seasons, and some of the third, were brilliant and then the show just completely went who knows where. Season six felt like I was watching something completely different. Anyway. I figured the next Stormlight books would be shorter since there isn't as much mandatory worldbuilding so I'm okay with that. Then again who knows what Part 2 will even contain.
  7. That was bad wording on my part. I meant that climax events seem to far outshine normal events throughout the book and while it's an obvious conclusion that that is supposed to be a typical occurrence in storytelling, it just seems that there is such a large gap in quality and significance. But that could just be me. I agree that we're seeing character development in SoIaF. It's just not with every major character (example: Dany pining after Daario in A Dance which was just tedious to read, teenage girl or not) and the plot overall feels as if it's crawling along at a snail's pace. A lot has happened but at the same time it feels like it hasn't. If that makes sense. (I'm bad with words so bear with me here.)
  8. I think that TWoK (and while I'm on the topic, Mistborn trilogy and Warbreaker) all suffered from pacing problems. I didn't notice this while reading Elantris nor during my re-read of the Mistborn trilogy but I am noticing it while re-reading TWoK. Don't get me wrong; he writes great climaxes.. but it's like everything leading up to the climax is empty. Anyway, I'd be perfectly content if Brandon's ONLY major issue was pacing which I'm sure is something he'll improve on. And while I suppose I can understand his praise towards other major authors, the only 'epic' series I've read have been the SoIaF books out. And I just.. lost interest hard in them. It's slow, the plot is going nowhere, Dany hasn't even met any major characters, and her Dance chapters were a joke. As a reader I really cannot take SoIaF seriously anymore. But that's obviously just my opinion. It's nice to discuss it with others from time to time. Eesh this became a big tirade.
  9. IIRC, in an interview it was said that the Dadradah is what inspired the religion in Warbreaker but it's not THE religion... if that makes sense.
  10. Really? I figured Dalinar's would be 3rd.
  11. Oh wow that should have been obvious to me. These pictures are exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
  12. Where might I be able to find them? I've found some maps but I don't know any website to look for other illustrations like animal drawings and whatnot. I figure they may be on one of the illustrator's websites but I obviously do not know which one.
  13. Made it up whenever I first began playing WoW over six years ago. Used it for most stuff since then.
  14. Are you interested in mostly Cosmere books or anything he's released in general?
  15. Since there are several instances of thrill being capitalized and in lowercase, I'm positive that they are different.
  16. Szeth just experienced normal thrill; no Thrill.
  17. Oh yeah didn't Warbreaker happen around the same time as WoK/AoL? That Chronology page must be wrong then. I was going off memory. Sorry.
  18. Elantris, maybe Warbreaker, and the Mistborn trilogy all take place around the same time. Alloy of Law and Way of Kings take place 341 years later. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Chronology Also iirc, a year on Roshar is 1.1 Earth years. (500 days per year and 23 hours per day)
  19. I wonder if any other Shardworlds we visit will be modern-time technology-wise or later. I think that Mistborn is a special case since we'll keep revisiting Scadrial over the course of several centuries. I don't see Nalthis becoming advanced since it will only have one more book. Same with Elantris, except two more books. Roshar seems doubtful but then again, we don't know -why- there's going to be a gap, do we? And that leaves Silence Divine world, Taldain, Yolen, and whichever other future books that take place on different planets. I'm just musing at this point. I really need to dump all these questions in a .txt file the next time a Q&A presents itself. Edit: Looking over some Q&As, he said that the entire cosmere would be 36 books, but I don't think side stories (like Emperor's Soul, Alloy) are going to count toward the total because it would put it over the top.
  20. (Won't quote because length) That's good. I think it's amazing that there are such in-depth theories already despite the small amount of material so far (eight books) but I just can't wrap my head around some of this stuff and comprehend it. It's just too much, haha. But I do enjoy reading it all. Cosmere fascinates me to no end.
  21. You guys seriously gotta publish a "Cosmere Theories for Dummies" someday.
  22. Was Elantris going to be a trilogy? I thought it was just supposed to have a sequel (like Warbreaker) until obviously Emperor's Soul was wrote up.
  23. I think another thing to add would be for people to not include spoilers, or allusions, to a specific spoiler in the thread title since that shows up on the forum front page whenever a thread is updated.
  24. Mhm. Tin's heightened sense of awareness could correlate into one of a Breath's heightened phases. Been a while since I've read Warbreaker so I don't exactly know what I'm talking about here. But from the Q&A, I expect most the worlds/magic systems to converge eventually. Guess we'll find out then.
  25. I'm currently re-reading Hero of Ages, and I remembered this post because I just finished the chapter where Spook was escaping from the burning house. He was describing how the world felt dull without tin, and one example was colors losing their crisp edge. That specific remark made me think of Warbreaker and the prominence of gaining/losing colors. So maybe Tin is related to Breaths somehow, in the Cosmerian future. I don't know.
