Seattle signing: RENARIN WILL HAVE A BOOK!
Asperity replied to JamHeretic's topic in Stormlight Archive
>One of the ten characters I don't understand the significance of this statement, sorry. I'm assuming it obviously pertains to the ten major characters who "get their own book" although I wonder why Renarin is so special. We already have Dalinar getting a book (unless it's changed) so that's a second Kholin family member heightened to such importance. -
I have nobody to talk to as I read WoR so I don't want to have a heavy discussion with possible spoilers as I'm not yet finished with the book (so I hope people REALLY read this) but here are some rambles: Anyway, Damnation being Braize makes some sense but I like how it was spelled out for us. Braize must be a terrible place if that's where Odium is currently chilling. Also makes me wonder why the Heralds remained Heralds for so long if they're forced to stay on Braize between Desolations (correct?) so if they travel between Braize and Roshar regularly, I suspect they travel through the Cognitive Realm and should (key word: should) be Cosmere-aware? Maybe. And if Braize is Damnation, I figured Ashyn COULD be the Tranquiline Halls but I severely doubt that. Braize makes sense; Ashyn doesn't. So I have no idea where they are right now. If any of this is debunked in WoR, please don't tell me. I'm fine with no replies; I just wanted to ramble to people who will read and actually understand what I'm talking about. I'm on page 515 right now and I'm enjoying the book very very much.

**Spoiler** The Sword towards end of WoR **Spoiler**
Asperity replied to Tybou_14's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I closed the Recent Topics sidebar so I wouldn't have to deal with spoilers. I don't know why you would post on a forum if you don't have the barest amount of respect for others. -

The concept of sickness = power has intrigued me since I first heard mention of the story.- 21 replies

Aww, that was the biggest single novel I was looking forward to. Ah well.- 21 replies

True. If Odium didn't tamper with the Shards after Splintering them, that would be the only world we've seen that I would consider having sentient magic.
-
I wonder if we're getting White Sand right after all of SA unless the Hoid trilogy is something completely different because other than White Sand, I think Dragonsteel is the only other long series as far as a prequel or heavy-Cosmere-related goes.
-
As far as Cosmere, I believe SA 3 is next. The next Mistborn trilogy won't be until after SA 5 and I think Shadows of Self might be after SA 3?
-
I wonder if Sel's magic is sentient now. Nevermind, Odium probably controls it now.

I don't read the Steelheart series but any sufficiently advanced technology would be indistinguishable from magic, regardless.- 21 replies

I misclicked new reply instead of edit or something. I don't know why I can't just delete my own post.

Wait, can you elaborate on this? Very interested. That's the Shard on Ashyn (iirc.)

Remove WoR Discussion from Recent Topics sidebar
Asperity replied to Asperity's topic in Tech Support
I didn't even know you could collapse it, sorry. And yeah, that was my concern. I broke my promise of not coming back until I finished reading so it scared me, haha. -
What do you consider the bay area? Because I've lived in Florida my entire life and this is the first mention of "bay area" I have ever heard in reference to Florida. It's usually California.

I completely forgot all about that short story. I need to read it. And are the humans from Scadrial called Scadrians? I've always gone with Scadralians for some reason. Not saying you're wrong but I'm ignorant in this case and honestly do not know/remember.

Do we know how big the glass beads in Shadesmar are?
-
Would that be possible? Even without viewing the new WoR Discussion board, possible spoilers in titles can still be seen in the Recent Topics sidebar thing.

I'm about to go to mine. I live five minutes away from the THIRD largest Wal-Mart in the Land of Brandon and I will be pretty butthurt if they don't have it.
-
I have located a copy and now own both a .pdf and a .mobi format file. Is it bad now that I have a readable copy on my desktop that I can now get to typing a summary for class due in less than 12 hours? Still going to Wal-Mart tonight in hopes of finding a physical copy too.

I, along with many others, are waiting patiently for an uploaded mirror of this iBooks edition.
-
Do you think they would really put it out around midnight, though?
-
Nein. He wasn't able to. I think it has something to do with him needing to own some type of rights for the e-book and Tor owns that, not him. Or something. It may happen in the future, though.

I'm not touching one link to this website from the time I have a copy of the book until I finish reading the book.
-
It should be perfectly acceptable for me to flash my signed AoL copy to get into the stockroom and walk out peacefully with my copy of WoR. BUT NO!
-
B-but that's already our biological goal! But that's a whole 'nother story, regardless.
