  1. Oh. Oops. In fairness, with all the smileys, it was kind of hard to tell what was actually a joke up there. Equally fair, especially without any really compelling alternatives. There's me, but there's not a lot of steam behind that right now (I'd say I'm beating you on the low-contribution front, though ). Fair warning, if he flips evil, I'm looking at you for basically creating a lynch no one else was considering. I can see the entire rationale you've laid out, but it doesn't change that you pretty much singlehandedly selected the vote this round, which makes me uncomfortable. I really should have been paying more attention, it seems, since I have no idea why you think Striker's an informative vote right now. I might or might not be able to respond one more time. I have to get to bed.
  2. That post has way too many ""s. XD Peji is the inactive I'm most willing to vote on, but that's a far cry from actually getting a vote from me. RE: Aman's votes on Striker, confirmed Village =/= confirmed right, and all that. It seems to me that Aman's votes on both Striker and Rath were primarily because they were voting on him, and he wanted out of the game. I don't think that really counts as "trust". I don't really have time to go back through the entire game right now, so I'm going by my gut impression, which is that Striker's been very reactive the entire game, and has been carefully maintaining the activity he'd need to get trust, while never actually pushing any real discussion. I'm not really a fan of that, as gut impressions go.
  3. Okay, so I finally got the time to peek in here, and catch up. Sorry to vanish like that. Umm... Kas? Striker isn't on my list at all. And since I haven't been paying enough attention to him, I'd really rather elect you than him. (Or me. I'm obviously a little too busy to give anything more than sporadic activity, so I might actually be ideal this round, if others are willing. Others besides Fifth, I mean. ) So, Kasimir. Sorry about being so brief here, but I'm hoping to get at least one more post in before bed, and I've already spent like an hour catching up. I need to post this now if I want to give people time to respond.
  4. I don't have a ton of time right now, but I needed to make at least one thing clear: I've just learned that Peji is dealing with some pretty hectic RL stuff right now, and she gave me permission to say that in the thread. There's a good chance she'll continue to be pretty inactive for a while, for completely non-game-related reasons. And while I'm here, Rath got my attention as a player who wasn't trying to get my attention. I'll say again that the elims cannot afford to skate by in this game; they need to be part of the discussion, because they need to be trusted. I'm aware that, having done this, we've now established that laying low was a way to get trust, but since no one else seemed to be thinking this way, it seemed unlikely that the elims would be just waiting and hoping that someone had the thought. From here on out, obviously, it becomes NAI, but prior to now, low-level activity that wasn't inactivity was worth a certain amount of trust in my book. And because I don't have time for analysis right now, I'll lay a vote on Fifth for voting with me on that, if for different (vaguer) reasons. I don't trust Fifth enough that I'd be ecstatic about electing him, though, so I hope I come up with something else when I've got time for analysis.
  5. I'm currently writing RP, but I'll quickly respond to keep the discussion going. Your points on Wibble are fair. I was just a little caught off guard by how he hasn't even tried to defend himself, but you're right, that very response could be the intention. I still feel pretty strongly about Bard. 7 elims is almost certainly broken, so the only elim count I could see him pulling that on is 6 elims. You have to keep in mind that there's more at risk than a lost opportunity. If there's 5 elims, and two of them fall under severe suspicion, then the elims have lost. They can't afford suspicion; they can't even afford to just skate by. They need the majority of their team to, at some point, be among the most trusted players in the game. A five elim team has exactly one caught-elim to burn; a 6-man team has two. It's possible that the 6-man team could afford throw away one member C1, but I think even that is a bad play. You're right about the IKYK potential, but I'm just not seeing that in Bard's defense of himself. If that's the plan, he has tremendous patience, because he said nothing to even suggest it, and no one else even thought of it before me. All that said, you're right -- I'm not absolutely certain of Bard, and I'm willing to consider other lynches. Aman is an option, and probably a safe one, but I'd rather spend my vote, at least early in the cycle, learning things -- like how Coda stepped in to vote Bard without any justification, making them both more suspicious. If Bard did pull the risky play, then getting him elected without another dramatic incrimination would be a godsend, and Coda certainly seems to have leaped on it. :/ I have to shoot your own argument back at you -- if you're so concerned about getting a lynch you're confident in, why are you voting Fifth? Is he really the "safe" option in your eyes? I'll admit he's been helpful, but you trust him more than Aman/Striker/Rath? Or are you, too, using your vote to make a statement? Bottom line, like you, I'll sign on to an Aman lynch, but I'm not willing to start it until much later in the cycle. I do want my vote to still do some good, though. I'll move it to Rath for now; not sure how much good that does, but we'll see if anything comes of it.
  6. Not a lot of time, barely 5 minutes left in my break. sigh. I wanted to do some RP. First, Bard's last-minute vote is so suspicious that either there are a lot more Elims than I thought -- like, around 7 -- or I think he's Village. Because of the way El changed the numbers, I don't think a sacrifice play is as reasonable this game as it was the last. And -- if he's an elim -- that's what this was. Everyone has been thinking and talking about last-minute elim vote shifts, so a play like that would guarantee that he comes under fire, enough that electing him becomes very unlikely. It's possible he was counting on this specific reasoning, but nothing about the way he's defended himself suggests that. So I'm going to go with Bard. Kas, I actually do think both Bard and Aman are village. I'm less sure about you. Between you and Wibble, I pick Wibble for the elim, but you were still the one who turned it from a random vote into a lynch. Also, if Wibble is an elim, he's not getting a lot of guidance from his team, because so far he's playing pretty much like a typical new player. Side note... Did anyone else notice that El apparently considers herself a valid lynch target? @Elbereth Is this a joke, or do you plan on letting us elect you? What will happen if we do???
  7. I've got like 10 minutes before work, so I don't have time to fill out an RP, but I will later. For now, my sample size is small, and I'm awful at judging these sorts of things, but I don't see a major difference in tone between Aranmir and Kavan. I believe Aman when he says he'd rather get out of this game early. However, I think if he was an Elim, he'd be making this same move, to get a point for his team with minimum exposure of his teammates. @Amanuensis, if you want to be elected, you're going to have to do better than "elect me, or else I might spend the time I just said I don't have screwing with the Village." @GoWibble why Stink, specifically? Did something about his RP ring true to you? Or is this vote just totally at random? It's okay either way, I'm just curious. I think you mean, "in view of that"? "In lieu" means "instead", so you had a choice of feeling better, but you decided you'd rather put a meaningless vote on yourself.
  8. Well, that happened. You'd think I'd be less gullible by now, but nope. Yeah, if there's another game, I'll play it. Edit: @Kasimir, I'll be honest, I thought about it, but I was juggling some out-of-game duties, plus PMs with THREE OF THE FIVE ELIMS. *Facepalm.*
  9. Well... Darn it, Hael, I've been telling people that I planned on moving my vote as soon a Elandera voted -- I told you that! Why did you have to go and give it more importance? I'm going to stick to my word, because I'm loathe to lose Fifth's discussion contribution right now. Elandera's vote was not what I was expecting. It calls attention to herself, in a way that makes her even more interesting to me. I want to hear more from her now, but unfortunately, I need to support a lynch, and I want her over Fifth. I have a more positive read on Fifth, but I'd rather hold onto him, since he's helping to cause discussion. So, Elandera. I'm not sure how cogent I'm being; it's late. I'm going to bed. Here's hoping Elandera doesn't turn out to be an elim, losing me any trust I may have gathered.
  10. An elim outing themselves to push a teammate through is a possible consequence, but unless there are 6 or more elims, I'm not positive that wouldn't be a good thing. At 5 elims, I honestly can't say who I think that would benefit, but at 3-4, I'm confident that it would be the Village. And that's the only possible consequence. If it doesn't happen, and there is no election, the Village loses absolutely nothing, and might gain a little information. I'm not saying it would be much -- like you said, a lynch without teeth can't be counted on to produce reliable information. But the information it does provide is totally free of cost. This isn't the age-old D1 lynch discussion. This game has one of the most unusual lynches in the history of SE, combined with a bizarre "nobody dies" ruleset. I think it's reasonable to discuss the ramifications of that a little.
  11. I'm actually not trying to pin you right now, believe it or not. You're a person of interest for me, and I'm looking to get your vote on the record for later analysis. I don't have any immediate plans for the information. Hm. I think I just basically disagree with this. Your vote is your number one tool for manipulating the game, and not using it is doing no one any good. It's always possible to move or remove your vote later, so it's usually in both your and the Village's interest to place your vote as soon as you have a reason to -- it lets you prod and maneuver people into engaging with the discussion (even in this game, though the specifics of how are different), and it's a concrete expression of your opinion, which is information for the other players. Gotcha. That particular poke is rescinded, then. Keep fighting the good fight.
  12. Oh. Uhh... Woops. Should I remove her from any PMs I've started? Hah. Okay, that would make sense. ...it says a lot about me as a player that, within 15 seconds of hearing that, I was thinking of how to deliberately exploit it. XD
  13. Hear, hear! @Coda, @Pejidot, @Aragorn, @GoWibble, I know my first game was pretty overwhelming, but I promise, it gets easier. One helpful tip is to start some Private Messages with more experienced players and ask them who they think is trustworthy. Players are often more willing to share their suspicions one-one-one than to post them where everyone can see them. Just remember to include @Elbereth in every message you start! And hey, if you've got some thoughts or ideas, please don't hesitate to share them! It's okay if you're not totally sure about them, or they're really off-the-wall. No one's going to get upset if you turn out to be wrong. I, for one, am excited to hear what you think of your first game. On a totally unrelated note, @Kasimir, how on Middle-Earth did you post that, and then edit it, without ever showing up as Recently Browsing? I was paying avid attention at the time, because I was noting that @Elandera was spending a lot of time looking at my post, without responding. So you just plopping down that post out of nowhere confused the heck out of me.
  14. Right, the first reason is obvious and fair. But it doesn't really help us get anywhere. I could accept the RP reasoning -- though I've never been a fan of RP-motivated voting decisions -- except that you didn't actually offer Bombur up. You still haven't cast a vote. This is telling, because your vote would be the second on him, making it an actually viable lynch. It reads to me as you deliberately avoiding making any waves -- a decidedly eliminator sort of behavior. And Fifth's argument is specifically that voting only on ourselves is going to lead to a non-lynch, because no one had more than one vote. Your refusal to vote, on either of you, is perpetuating that situation. Side note, and this is interesting: Because there's no Elim kill, a non-lynch is actually strictly advantageous for the Village. The only thing that would come out of the cycle is information, which -- since the Village has no secrets -- can only help them. It's less information that we get from a lynch, which is why it's usually better to push a lynch, but in this case, there's literally no cost to an extra cycle. It's on the elims to make early lynches happen, here: they want the game over as soon as possible.
  15. Since @Elbereth, no doubt wrapped up in managing this deep and intricate game, has forgotten to write me a character, I find myself unable to RP. That said, Fifth has earned a tiny modicum of trust from me for being the first to disrupt an obviously unproductive pattern. I note, though, that rather than support his own position by actually creating a lynch on someone, he voted on someone who didn't already have a vote, changing absolutely nothing about the "one vote each" problem, and he seems to have selected his vote for exclusively RP reasons. Care to comment, @Fifth Scholar? Also, @Elandera, why, exactly, don't you want to be selected? I can only think of a handful of possible reasons, and two of them involve you being an Elim.
  16. You are aware that "Elbereth" already is a Lord of the Rings reference, right? XD
  17. I mean... Wasn't there? I feel like it was strongly indicated that either he in particular, or hobbits in general, were uniquely resistant to the draw of the Ring, and that no one else would have been able to carry it that far without succumbing. "Take turns bearing the Ring" is almost certainly easier to say than to do. It would mean regularly giving up the Ring to someone else, something that even Frodo proves unable to do.
  18. Hey, question. One of us can be the Ringbearer. But we don't have to vote them onto the quest? What does that look like?
  19. I'll sign up to play, at the least. I might or might not be RPing. @Elbereth, You know me. Do you think you could assign me a character you think I could write well, but who you could run as NPC if I don't?
  20. As this game's self-appointed loremaster, I can help you out by letting you know that this image is actually impossible. Day and night don't happen chronologically in the Fae; they happen geographically. The Cthaeh's tree (which I assume is what you're trying to describe) is fairly far dayward, so it can never be night there. Also, it stands alone in a meadow; there aren't any other trees about it. I'll also be willing to help with RP, assuming I survive long enough. Oooh! This! I like this. We should do this one.
  21. *Sigh*. I never was a very good Elim. Also, we've been unreasonably unlucky this game. Alv, I blame your gods. You probably should have thought it through before letting the sister of someone called "The Necromancer" join your troupe.
  22. *sigh* Well, if the Elims hadn't thought of this yet, they certainly have now. Can we get some protection on Drought, please? I'm sure he looks like a very attractive two-for-one kill, now. Regarding the PM Chain: The entire point of this is to make it so that we can publicly reveal the information without having to trust anyone whatsoever. The point of the numbering system is to make it so that no one except the original Sithe can be certain where it started. Then, once the origin is sufficiently concealed, we can publicly reveal the information to the entire thread. We can choose to trust Orlok -- and I agree, we'd almost certainly be vindicated -- but why? Why introduce more variables? As to my suspicions, I'm still baffled as to why @Aonar Faileas continues to absolutely refuse our calls for him to post something. At this point, though, I'm more confused than suspicious; I can't see what he hopes to gain right now, no matter what alignment he is. Devotary is raising some flags by drilling into Fifth for understandably trying to prevent joke votes from winning the lynch; I felt the same way that he did. We lynched Elandera largely by luck; the only vote on her in the entire cycle that was legitimately justified was Orlok's. It seems to me as though he is trying to deflect attention from Snipexe, by offering up someone else as the almost-savior of Elandera. And now, as I write this, Snipexe has just jumped on the lifeline Devotary is throwing him. I'm putting my vote on Devotary, though I'd also be okay with lynching Snipexe, and will switch if it comes down to Snipexe or someone else. In either case, if they turn out to be Elim, I strongly believe the next lynch should be on the other. If it turns out that Snipexe is not an Elim, I'll take another look at Fifth, but for now, Snipexe seems far more likely. Both of these are reasonable. The reasoning is spoilery, though, especially in Encanis's case, so I'm putting them in spoilers. Encanis: Cthaeh: All that said, I don't think that we should rule out the possibility that there *is* no conversion mechanic, and this is just the GMs covering their bases in case they wanted to introduce one. We don't appear to have heard anything about it from our Sithe informants, after all.
  23. Fithy looked around uncomfortably. She really hated being the center of attention, but... "I guess I'm our de facto expert on the Fae, huh? Well, I once heard a story about how a peasant boy once picked a Rhinna flower for the princess of the Fae, to save her life. In the story, the flower grew upon the tree of the Cthaeh." Ralian? Did you make this place up, or is this just some KKC trivia I don't know about?
  24. Hey, can anyone tell me what's wrong with my color palette? The colors on it are all weird. I'm having to use "Strong Red" and "Emerald" instead of red and green.
  25. ...Fair. Bort. Moving my vote to Aonar, who has still not posted, despite coming online multiple times.
