    Yeah D&D type magic is better than GURPS type magic here because GURPS type magic is based on "mana" points and has groups of spells with a bunch of semiconfusing crossovers and all the spells fill a whole book of their own and nobody knows about them, while D&D type magic is based on resting and is better organized and doesn't fill a whole book of it's own (as far as I know.) Also far more people know about it. I may have a personal preference towards GURPS, but I shouldn't have slighted the many people for whom D&D is the best. I'm sorry.

    In a situation like this, I think that if you act like you're in charge and nobody else really wants to be in charge, the others will probably do what you tell them to (as long as it's in the area of what-we-would-normally-do-and-what-we're-technically-supposed-to-be-doing.) Sometimes even when someone else wants to be in charge, they still follow you because they might as well and you're getting the right stuff done. I've seen this happen. Though this might not always work.
