  1. We have an example of the Nahel bond being used by Aviar to not only share their powers with a human, but a human being able to sharing innate power back with those Aviar. Naturally, this got me thinking about Roshar's Nahel bonds. I'm sure their would be some weirdness if a Spren bonded a Metalborn or other Invested person, maybe granting them some slight difference in their innate abilities (though this would be small given that they can barely use their own Surges- presumably because, like Kelsier stuck in the CR, they lack a tie to the PR). What I think would be far more interesting is if a Radiant squired another Invested person. I'm assuming that it is the same kind of mechanism as the bond between the Radiant and Spren (though I personally think it's more a bond directly with the Radiant, which in turn gives lesser access to the Spren's power). If so, then I think it's quite reasonable that the Radiant gets some access to that other Investiture, as Nahel bonds are two-way streets. It does make me wonder what Metalborn powers would prove especially effective for Radiants. Gold Feruchemy might make a nice backup reserve for healing and Pewter Allomancy would synergize well with Radiants who haven't earned Plate yet. Steel Allomancy might be good for those that lack Gravitation, granting way more mobility (I'm looking at you, Dustbringers and Edgedancers). Copperclouds are of less use to Lightweavers than other Orders for sneaking around, but the cognitive defenses might be nice, especially when dealing with Unmade. Tin is just amazing for Lightweaver spies. Gold Allomancy might be a useful ability for Elsecallers as they specifically must self-improve, and what better way to do that than to see another version of what you could be? Iron Feruchemy would be nice for Stonewards in particular for holding the line. Steelrunning is busted in nearly any way you look at it, especially after being handed to people who can regenerate from great injury. It would also be interesting to consider just what are the limitations of sharing your powers via Nahel bond. I'm assuming there must be some limit, as the Investiture itself is limited.
  2. I do a lot of guesswork and form hypotheses myself, but your wording feels extremely certain and doesn't show that it's a hypothesis, at least to my viewing. Personally, I think it would be best to indicate that so that people like the OP don't get confused and close their mind to new ideas on the subject, particularly when we get Canon material. I do agree with most of your points however. A suppression Fabrial could almost certainly be made to work on any Investiture- it would simply need to be built right, and using a Spren comprised of the Investiture of the Shard who's magic you're trying to suppress would make a lot of sense.
  3. Source? This sounds like it could be correct, but I don't recall the mechanics of the Suppressor Fabrials ever being mentioned.
  4. Uhhh. . . Getting the books and reading them? Haven't actually gotten to run the thing yet.
  5. This is an interesting idea, but aluminum is not a Godmetal. It can be Soulcast into existence with relative ease while Godmetals are made of a Shard's pure Investiture and are extremely hard to create.
  6. Worst one? Trying to let my siblings use characters and abilities that very much come after the True Desolation in the Stonewalkers adventure. Then postponing the thing until I no longer has time to play had to fly out back to college after Christmas break. Whoops.
  7. Probably judge. I tend to do better in that regard, at least in my opinion.
  8. I'll give it a go, friend.
  9. Sounds about right. Good for the soul, and all that. Perhaps. I think it could work. I could also see the pool trying to put more power in the spike as well, giving it a slight boost over time. Not a ton most likely, but maybe a little given its alignment and the pressure differential between the two.
  10. I gotta say, this guy sounds pretty smart and perceptive. And tall, and handsome, and-
  11. I did something like this with WaT where I wrote down all the points of interest I had with the book as I read it as well as the pages they were found on for ease of looking them up later. I know I'm quite late to the party, but in my defense I got my copy of the book yesterday. 1. 142: Crow appears to still be a Sporeater. She needs to take a sip from her water-filled silver flaggon every few minutes to survive. 2. 143: Northern Scadrian script is used in Scadrian starship controls. This hints that they are not dominated by Southern Scadrial in the future, which I'd thought about. 3. 147: places traveled frequently in Shadesmar grow obsidian ground to walk on. 4. 160: So dragons aren't biologically immortal. 20,000 years is a good life expectancy. This further supports the idea that raw Investiture alone is not an effective path to agelessness. Unless you Ascend, more must be done. 5. 176: the enormous 3-way Perpendicularity of Starlight causes things near it to move ten times slower. This easily explains how Khriss could live so long, though other factors may be involved. 6. 180: It appears that Sazed has done something than no other living Shard/Vessel has done, and it is considered impressive. 7. 181: Invested systems that can be used by anyone are still considered very valuable in the space age. Are medallions harder to make, or less enduring than I had previously assumed? 8. 190: Xisis can apparently at least double a human's lifespan with "a flick of his claws". This is another reason why 17th Shard members can live so long, apart from time dilation. 9. 193: Autonomy is known to have "old dominions". Could just be that they've been around for a while. Or, is Autonomy defeated now, her Avatars Splintered off? 10. 197: you can eat parts of Skullsnakes or worm paste to gain Seeker-like abilities. According to freaking Patji itself, only those blessed by it can eat the worms and gain this effect. 11. 199: Dusk gains what appwar to be Seeker-like abilities (291 shows that Scadrians, nor anybody else can traverse the Emberdark like he can. So it is a unique ability). 12. 199: Dusk's Invested ability translates to his Aviar, just as theirs goes to him. Even more proof of powers shared being usable by the original owner as well. 13. 211: The Evil don't like going near populated areas lest they be warped into something else. Reminds me strongly of Nightmares and sensitive they are to perception, even more than Spren. 14. 237: Dajer needs lung support through medical means. Odd, given that healing Investiture is a thing. Are Goldminds too expensive to give to someone like him? Does this feed back into the idea in #7 that medallions are still somehow not common devices? 15. 250: Dajer calls Nazh an unbound Shade. Are the silver devices used to bind and control Shades typically? Is that how they're kept safe? 16. 251: Dajer claims "any child with a coin" can now fly as dragons have. Is this a severe exaggeration? Because other signs point to medallion use being a bit more limited than that. 18. 258: Dragons use special organs to fabricate nutrients from Investiture, using Connection (presumably to the SR). Severing that is hard, but is one of the few ways to kill them. Apparently, sleeping is a way to restore their Investiture, suggesting they can run out if not careful. 19. 274: So, Patji creatures have Invested venoms and poisons? Enough so that even a dragon can feel some pain, albeit slightly. Also, does a dragon's Investiture automatically retaliate against assailants (killing the wasp)? 352: looks like they were made from Investiture to begin with, so Invested venoms are not a guarantee. 20. 274-275: Dajer says the Evil is to blame for messing with Starling's healing, and that it's prevented Feruchemical healing. How can Sak's visions work still? Did Dakwara become "aligned" with Patji's/Autonomy's Investiture? It does appears to have been feeding on it, so perhaps. 21. 279: Shadesmar gets its light from perception. Interesting. 22. 283: Dragons are too Invested to bear a Nahel bond. Technically spoiled this for myself by skimming the Coppermind, but here's the og source. 23. 294: Copperclouds seem way more useful now. Even creatures directly connected to the nervous system cannot infiltrate their minds. Other cognitive attacks like induced insanity or "phantom music" (perhaps a form of Soothing?). 301 confirms that super-powered Copperclouds can revert a Sleepless into a non-sapient swarm of bugs. WoB tells us it might be beyond human capacity, even enhanced though. 24. 299: Sleepless have a core self consisting of specialized hoardlings. I had previously assumed that their personality and self was stretched more or less equally amongst all of their pieces. 25. 300: Hold on, no Aetherbound will serve the Scadrians? Something must have gone down between the primal Aethers and Scadrial or Harmony, especially given Kelsier's previous friendly affiliation with one. 310 Okay, nevermind, there ARE Aetherbound working for the Malwish, Starling just didn't expect it. 26. 305: Seeking works by picking up the radiation of Investiture? Not quite the way I envisioned it, but that makes more sense, I suppose. 27. 310: Aetherbound can make Aether Spores, not just grow it directly. That definitely adds to their use. Speaking of which, why would Aether be used for fuel? Is it just super efficient? 28. 313: Welp, sounds like dragons can make people into Cognitive Shadows too. Why not? 29. 328: Hoid has a wife and appears to have twins. I'd wonder who, but no other evidence is there. 30. 328: Dragons are not only super long-lived, but can take millenia to be pulled into the Beyond. 31. 329: Spren may choose how they appear the the Spiritual Realm. 32. 348: Odium removed Ambition's Intent from the Evil? So, they're truly devoid of Shardic Intent, it would seem. 33. 348: Investiture free from the direct influence of a Shard is easier to shape via thought. This would support the idea that Shards act as a natural inhibiting force on many acts (the people of Canticle and the Nightmares on Komashi being examples of not having such protections, so other Investitures can easily effect them). 34. 356: Given that the Dakwara is made up of negative Investiture I wouldn't have expected it to actively feed on regular Investiture. Odd. Also, interesting to see that very large Spren or Spren-adjacent beings can be so durable against even advanced tech. 379: also, weird that it can seemingly bond and Invest a person who is Invested from another source despite being made up of negative Investiture. How much does that even mean at this point, really? 35. 388: Ed believes that extended close proximity to a Perpendicularity can change a person, granting certain abilities and adaptations. I'm gonna guess this is where the Horneater Sighted come from, at least in part. There may be another step, but surely this is part of it.
  12. Know as in how many can he use? If so, it depends on when we're talking about. Also, it sounds like you're a bit newer to the Cosmere, though that might be me misreading. How many books have you read of the Cosmere?
  13. Rusts. Fixed it.
  14. I'm sure this isn't a new idea, and there are probably reasons I'm not aware of as to why it couldn't work, but necro posting seems to be a relatively frequent occurrence to new members who don't know what they're doing yet. Would a possible solution to this be to have the system automatically lock threads after they've been inactive for an extended period of time, like after three to six months? People could still link and/or reference those threads if they wanted to continue talking about them, but they would not be capable of actually necroing them on accident. Again, I'm not well versed in the code of the 17th Shard and have no idea how to run things, so if this is a bad idea please disregard it entirely.
  15. Thanks. It's been a long standing theory of mine that Hemalurgy (specifically the type that uses metals as a focus to rip off pieces of Spiritweb and then suture them onto another. Crystal/Cosmere-wide concepts of Hemalurgy may be different) actually scrubs much if not all of the previous Shardic association the stolen Investiture had, then aligning it with Ruin's Intent and instilling anyone who bears that spike with a Connection and Investment from Ruin. Similar to how other mangled forms of Investiture turn black and have a Ruinous vibe (such as Nightmares, Nightblood, and possibly the Midnight essence- though that last one is even further removed and might actually just be coincidence). This is why I think Division stolen by Hemalurgy could work better than naturally within Hornor's/Cultivation's system, because it seems like a perfect fit for Ruin's Intent. I disagree with this, and believe bendalloy Allomancy would fit with Ruin quite well, as it's the opposite of cadmium- speeding up the passage of time and allowing erosion and entropy to progress. But like with most of my post, it's all just a hypothesis with a few leading ideas to anchor it.
  16. We know from Nomad in TSM that different magic systems have various levels of efficiency, and Raboniel further confirms this in RoW when explaining to Navani that you can grow crops more easily with Lifelight and music than Stormlight and music. I'm thinking then that different Intents of Investiture will have differing levels of efficiency with certain powers and effects. For example, perhaps the reason Pulsing is so much more potent than Sliding is because both are fueled by Preservation's power, which would stand to reason that it favors putting things in stasis rather than speeding them up (so Hemalurgically stolen Bendalloy Allomancy may be better, even after taking decay into account). Lift might be particularly powerful at healing others with Progression given her use of Lifelight. A Rioter hooked up to breath Voidlight might find themselves being particularly potent. Division in the hands of a Hemalurgist who stole it from a Surgebinder might be a very scary thing indeed. . .
  17. Hmm, probably no Stormlight from sworn oaths given their nature. . . There's still Warlight, and it probably isn't too hard to split that and Towerlight into their base Investitures.
  18. Yes, a brass Compounder has some natural resistance to their heightened attribute just like with any Feruchemist, but they could indeed go too far and hurt/kill themselves.
  19. Radiant Spren have been bound in the past, allowing the creation of the Knights Radiant instead of just wild Surgebinders. If I'm understanding my lore it was Tanavast working with Ishar and Nohadon to found the Radiants, crafting oaths that would both maximize Surgebinding power and inhibit the most dangerous of their abilities. However, we saw some other things, like Glys talking about how Radiants and their Spren don't have the same telepathic abilities that naturally exist via the Nahel bond. Perhaps even a Radiant's protection from Savantism comes from Tanavast's tinkering. In any case, we've seen that both returning Deadeyes and Enlightened Spren have full use of their telepathy- perhaps they're no longer of Honor in the same way they once were, either by largely replacing that piece of themselves or simply having it ripped out when Honor was upset by the betrayal of Mishram. I wonder then, could Unbound Surgebinders begin to exist again? I don't think the Unoathed are exactly what this would be like, as they appear to be somewhat their own thing (and most of them wouldn't want to form a true Nahel bond anyways). However, if such a Spren did choose to bond someone in that way perhaps they'd have access to both of their Surges from the get go, but maybe being less efficient, more like an Honorblade. Speaking of which, perhaps they'd be able to summon their Spren as a Blade- but probably no Plate, since those are separate Spren and I'm assuming those are more tied to the Orders and oaths than just the Surgebinding Spren themselves. Furthermore, it would be interesting since the Spren now holds even greater autonomy over the bond, no longer requiring true oaths, but is still in charge. So they could be more flexible if they wanted and probably avoid the kind of pain that would exist if their Radiant broke their oaths (though with Mishram freed, Deadeyes may not happen naturally anymore, so this may not be relevant). Savantism might even become a thing for them, assuming that a Surgebinder's protections are actually from artificial tampering and not the status quo.
  20. Probably let you heal quickly if you spam it, at the cost of essentially doing a Pewterdrag and exhausting yourself for the repeated influx of Investiture. A little like how Compounding can exhaust a person. Blow up both your retinas and your eardrums simultaneously, then be struck blind, deaf, and dumb. Maybe glean some extra information if you're psyched up for it or dampen some of your other sensory organs ahead of time (i.e. blindfold) Vin actually shows us this one. Read Investiture far more deeply and intuitively (i.e. tell everything that a Soother is trying to do rather than just getting hints), Seek further, pierce Copperclouds. Briefly counter a huge amount of Investiture pressuring your mind or counter duralumin/bronze usage (but unlikely to work given the timing needs to be just right). Become pancake. Alternatively if you have pewter or are Wax, superjump long distances and smoosh things in the process. You might also be capable of seeing with Steelsight like Wax did with the Bands, maybe even going so far as to Push on people's souls (whatever that was supposed to mean when Wax contemplated it). Die. Or, maybe with pewter survive and Pull on something very powerfully, like an jet in the sky you're trying to catch. Functionally similar to each other- break into damaged Spiritwebs, leave an emotional imprint that sticks with someone (see Straff for example), overwhelm Coppercloud protection. Yup. Create solid bubble of time essentially (though he had a full stomach of Bendalloy and appeared to be approaching Savanthood, if not having already achieved it. This is likely on the higher end of what most Allomancers could do without artificial enhancement). Skip forward large swaths of time, probably creating a shield that somewhat protects from outside influences (I'm assuming given Wayne's apparent crystal-like bubble). Seal up cracks in others' Spiritwebs, temporarily or permanently removing access to their powers. Might require them to Snap again to regain them. Probably same as chromium, but on yourself. Could perhaps be useful to remove large Spiritweb cracks to prevent Emotional Allomancy of great power from seeping in. Might be more useful to someone with a beaten up Spiritweb who just wants it gone.
  21. Depends on where they are. I'm assuming these are Era 1 Hazekillers, so it's most likely they're in a city- probably at some keep the Mistborn is sneaking into. If the Mistborn can detect them with their tin first, they can just Steelpush into the night, or attack with a spray of coins from the shadows. It would require a great deal of coordination and skill to pin them down.
  22. Humorous as this is (and, yes, I'm sure that it's just a joke), I think these have an element of mystique and foreboding. The sky is a natural thing to us. It's beautiful and can bring hope. A clouded, concealed sky could represent to the readers that something bad or otherwise ominous is going on, and that something must change. The Shroud left. The Ashfalls left. The Everstorm will blow over too, and when it does it will represent peace and happiness for us.
  23. It's a cool idea, but I don't think it quite works that way. Duralumin and nicrosil Allomancy appear to enhance one's power by burning through all of their fuel in an instant. More metal burned = more Investiture = more potent effect. If the Coinshot had more steel in them to burn, this could probably work. If it's a lot of metal, too much to be instantly burned even with a standard enhancement metal (which I think should be the case because Leeching works that way and is the foil to enhancing) could probably be burned faster if the Nicroburst was enhanced by another Nicroburst themselves.
  24. Fair point, but do we know he wasn't being controlled in some way? We never got a direct PoV from either, and Marasi was on a time crunch. Plus, we don't know how Invested he was- perhaps his surprising physical strength came from Autonomy or something else. There would also be an Intent factor, though admittedly that's kind of wobbly ground to stand on. It's a good example, but I think that there are enough plausible unknowns that it could be danced around.
