  1. I mean, an Honorspren can use Plate, so I think this isn't too implausible.
  2. Question, what do we think about Allomantic copper hiding a Mistborn from the senses of an Unoathed/Radiant's Plate and Blade Spren?
  3. I'm curious- did we see one of the Unoathed turn their Blade into a shield or otherwise show they had shape-shifting comparable to Radiant Blades? It's been a bit since I read WaT.
  4. I did try to say Odium was Splintered- though maybe not very well. Otherwise that Shard would still be a major problem to deal with, and it would be harder to justify my convoluted little scenario.
  5. As of yesterday, I have been a member of the 17th Shard for five years.

Man, time flies. Hope to keep coming up with lots of crazy ideas for years to come.

    Merry Christmas!

  6. Thank you. That means a lot to me.
  7. What if Rashek survived Vin's attack, allowing him to retake the Well of Ascension and maintain his empire? Then, in a turn of events, Nightblood ends up killing Taravodium before he can pick up Honor. Dalinar is encouraged by Wit and Cultivation to take note of other worlds now that Odium is no longer a threat (Cultivation maybe Shattering the unmanned Shard), and so he sends out a Radiant of each Order to Scadrial. Basically, what would each typical Radiant type think of TLR's Final Empire, and what would they do to interact with it?
  8. What does the arena look like? How much metal does the Mistborn have, and can they conceivably grab more (i.e. go out of bounds to snag a stash, can they use Ironpulling to steal metal trinkets from the audience)?
  9. Honestly it doesn't bother me either way, though I like your idea better. More consistent, and it's not like things were spelled out in the books themselves, so it could work that way.
  10. Work with? Thaidakar. But not with Iyatil or her lackies. Pretty sure their personal goals/methods don't 100% align with the core Ghostblood's.
  11. Yeah, true, I suppose.
  12. We have new WoBs! This one was really interesting to me, because it tells us that Ashravan's actual consciousness moved to the Beyond and what Shai put in his place was a form of sapient Investiture. This sounds a whole lot like a Lifeless, but more filled with life. Use Investiture to create a "false soul" that puppeteers a deceased body. Makes me think, Forgery could be used to reanimate bodies, provided you knew their history and personality to some reasonable degree. It would take a lot more work than just using Breath, but has the added advantage of not needing to drain a person of their innate Investiture. It would be cool, I think, to see a Selish organization utilizing this with some sort of immortality protocol where their soldiers or other agents could have their histories rewritten if killed to create a kind of skilled Lifeless.
  13. Nice! I don't really follow sports, but I hear that BYU is supposed to be pretty good this year.
  14. I'll be getting my Roshar world guide for Christmas, but I had the opportunity to read my uncle's copy when visiting for Thanksgiving. The Nightwatcher boon ideas were pretty neat, and I was wondering if people had some fun, creative ideas for more boons and accompanying curses.
  15. I think he could survive most aluminum hits since his gold could keep the rest of his body going, but it can't heal the surrounding area. I think that the aluminum wouldn't be pushed out like other bullets either. It's possible this will change and healing magic will be able to eject at least some portions of aluminum (and I'd actually prefer that, since it keeps Bloodmakers more interesting), but right now I think aluminum is a soft counter to healing magic.
  16. Honestly, anything that keeps doing damage to him WOULD kill him eventually if he couldn't escape. His Goldminds are sizable, but finite. What's more, he has no other abilities that give him strength or mobility, limiting his options for getting away. It's basically just as Wayne said- you can beat anybody, provided they can't fight back properly. That being said, a well placed aluminum bullet in the head or a proper Hemalurgic theft would be the most efficient methods to take him out, I believe.
  17. I still don't think I was clear in my communication. Sorry. What I mean to say when the Era 1 Oracles using Atium would have "tweaked" powers is that they were using an Atium/electrum alloy. They should have been able to use their standard power by burning mundane electrum as well (presumably, since they were still Oracles), but when burning a Godmetal alloy they produce a new effect using that metal's Investiture. It is my thought that by doing this you could get a new Resonance, since the kinetic Investiture flowing through your Spiritweb is different from what that Misting/Twinborn would normally have. Kinda like how I postulated a while ago that Compounders like Miles who focus a lot on only producing their Feruchemical effect rather than mixing in their true Allomantic effect probably won't have a Resonanance- only it's the reverse here. Basically, I think that Godmetals work by overwriting the "frequency" of the Allomancy or Feruchemy using them (also fueling the process with their own substance in the case of Allomancy), very similarly to how a Compounder's Metalmind has an overwritten frequency, which then produces a new effect when Compounded. This is what makes me think that using Godmetals/Godmetal alloys effectively turns one Allomantic/Feruchemical power you already have into a new one on top of the original, which could then produce a new Resonance, as there is a new effect flowing through the Spiritweb (and in the case of a reusable Godmetal Metalmind, it could be done a lot over time without a large reservoir of the metal being needed).
  18. Sorry about that, fair criticism. I was thinking of an electrum/Atium alloy they could use as a Metalmind to store youth. Basically along the line of how Seers were retconned into being Oracles burning an Atium/electrum alloy to get, effectively, a different power. So, under that reasoning, any Twinborn who used an alloyed Atiummind to tweak their Feruchemy would get a completely (or at least somewhat different) use of their power. And if the effects are different, I'm assuming the "program" the Investiture uses is different, which I think would therefore change the Twinborn's Resonance.
  19. While thinking through a scenario for a Pewterarm/Pinnacle Twinborn using an Atiummind (trying to think of ways a person could live between Eras), I had a thought: if a Twinborn uses a Godmetal to refocus one of their powers on a regular basis, would they develop a new Resonance? On one hand, they're using the same powers that were already a part of their Spiritweb. On the other, one of their powers is now providing a very different effect. Personally, I'm thinking that this should create a new Resonance, possibly one combining three powers if the Twinborn uses their Godmetal tweaked power in its normal state too.
  20. The relative value of weapons in the Cosmere.
  21. It seems that gemstones are capable of holding Investiture, particularly Rosharan Investiture, regardless of origin. It makes me wonder, could Rosite function as gemstones, even if they're made of Investiture (similar to how Godmetals are Investiture but can hold an additional charge)? They've been compared to quartz before, which might be workable- after all, amethyst is a type of quartz with a smidge of iron. So there's some strong similarity to at least one type of Polestone. If pink isn't close enough to one of the ten essences, we know that coloration can be tweaked directly by an Aetherbound, at least to some extent, so if I'm correct in my Googling, maybe you could make it red, purple, or yellow, all of which require iron with differing levels of oxidation (which pink quartz also uses). If the Aetherbound or Sprouter were skilled, perhaps you could even encourage the Rosite to form more perfectly, making something that holds Stormlight better than most gemstones naturally found and cut. It might also be interesting to see if larger Rosite structures could be maintained on Roshar if they could capture Stormlight, then use that same Investiture to sustain its mass.
  22. It really depends on the specifics of each way it's set up, I think. Aristocratism is actually pretty good the way the Radiants have it set up, albeit not infallible. They have great power, yes, but it comes with an inherit responsibility baked into the system via oaths. These oaths are generally pretty good, what with protecting the innocent (Windrunners), looking out of the downtrodden and forgotten (Edgedancers), preventing those in power from becoming corrupted (Skybreakers), and being reliable supporters (Stonewards). There are definitely Radiants and their Spren that are exceptions, like Nale's Skybreakers and many modern Dustbringers, but overall I think this is pretty good for the wellbeing of all. A capitalistic approach has perks too. Being able to buy Breath or Unsealed Metalminds means that anyone has the potential to expand their abilities and effectiveness, and it opens a greater field of agency since anyone can work towards obtaining it, I believe. I feel like this is a best-case scenario though, and is not very realistic. Most likely only the rich, lucky, and/or morally ambiguous will get access to the magic, at least early on. If production of Invested Arts becomes cheaper to make, the general population could begin to directly benefit from holding their own Metalminds like a smartphone or an artificial Breath. Even then, it's probably not entirely "fair", since the highest quality of Invested products will always flow in one direction with only the overflow seeping back towards the poorer section of people (ahem, cyberpunk Scadrial, I'm assuming). Still, having the freedom to work towards betterment of one's self and one's power is inherently inspiring, in my opinion, even if kinda screwed up in certain ways. Socialism. . . yeah, I'm not familiar enough with real world economics to say whether it would slow down advancements for Invested tech when compared to a capitalistic or aristocratic approach. But at least within the context of Nalthis, yeah, it's safe but lacks real progress. Nobody is going to discover key Realmatics without creating a stockpile of Breath, at least on Nalthis.
  23. It's my first semester at BYU Idaho, and I think it would be cool to get to know other folks who frequent the Shard who also know the interesting stuff on campus.
  24. In BoM Wax mentions how his actual Investiture reserves, his ability to use empowered Allomancy, is draining at a furious rate while tapping the Bands. I think it's chapter 29 that goes over this, wish I could validate this since it's been a bit, but I won't have my books again until I visit my family for Christmas. Aren't we all confused by their operation. Can't wait for the document explaining their function to be released. I do not believe that the nicrosil portion of medallions are actually tapped (instead using a bonding mechanism), but that this was only the term Brandon flowed with at the time because it made for an easier response. Humans are human and it's not reasonable to pick apart every tiny thing that comes out of a person's mouth. Here in particular, with him signing books and giving the response inside, keeping the answer short and sweet makes a lot of sense, and even if it can be extrapolated incorrectly it gets the main idea the questioner was asking about delivered. That's my own take on this WoB, anyway. It's been proposed by other Sharders that we don't see medallions being used for both storing and tapping because it's a restriction of Intent, where the medallion can either store or tap, but it's hard to do in field because the medallion itself has the desire to do one or the other, not both. Get heat inside a Brass medallion probably requires some extra step, I'm thinking, maybe to do with the Firefathers and Firemothers, maybe with the Excisors. Perhaps they can be recharged with a mechanical device, but we just don't know right now. Wax's method does create the pure Atium type, but it's tweaked by the Kandra giving it to Marsh before he burns it. It's also been confirmed that pure Atium's effect when burned is to give a more expansive vision of the SR than what the alloyed form does. Allomancy table: As for the idea of more permanent longevity being provided by pure Atium, I don't know. One one hand, it's very similar to what the electrum alloy does, which matches fairly well with how the Allomantic effects of Atium/electrum and pure Atium work very similarly, but with pure Atium being a more expanded version. On the other hand, this does feel like they should have either picked up on this possibility and gone with that instead of the alloy, or it's just a little overpowered and makes the electrum alloy feel redundant.
  25. Yeah, copper's my #1 go to. It's probably better suited for long-lived beings as well, since better memory and resistance to insanity would be useful for a person centuries old. Iron is my second, since it allows a Kandra to retain significant strength without the need for tons of muscle mass. Flying should be much easier with this Blessing, since any muscles powering wings would be greatly enhanced. Iron could also just be useful if you do ever get in a physical confrontation in your millenia-long lifespan, as you could run, jump, or attack better than any regular person even without sculpting your body for battle. Tin is probably good for something, but sculpting better senses doesn't seem as hard as sculpting a highly muscled body for combat. I just don't think it's very good compared to the others. Zinc might be better than copper for shielding your mind, but it might not. Plus, copper gives lots of other perks.
