  1. I was wondering this too, but also why salt is never really mentioned again after we leave the rock? You'd think there'd be some uses for it, assuming it's more plentiful/cheaper than silver as it is on our world
  2. Yellow glow: "These words are accepted"
  3. Upon listening to Brandon's reading of the secret Project one chapters, I'm glad I did. It basically just sets up the story, and I feel like I would run into the information gleaned inadvertantly sometime in the next year anyways. And the full release is long enough away that I think it will still be fresh and new when I read it for real. Looking forward to the next ones!
  4. Yes after reading the description I might end up just reading the chapters after all haha. Then I can enjoy all the RAFOs on the live streams too haha (so much for willpower)
  5. I've decided I think I'll look at the titles and inspiration but not read the chapters. Thanks for the input!! It's so hard to not talk about it, but I think I'll enjoy them more reading fresh
  6. They'll be coming out on YouTube/print over the next few weeks
  7. I'm curious as to how many of you are planning to read/listen to the sample chapters for the Secret Project books and start theorizing, and how many are wanting to go in fresh when they're released next year? I am undecided and see merits to both. Please comment on your plan (Yay or Nay) and why!!
  8. Sel: Magi-doodles Funky chicken karate Scadrial: Belly Smelting Jewelry Juicing Needle Sharing Roshar: Stone sniffing
  9. I agree storms is the most versatile/easiest to say, but rust and ruin is my favorite because it just works soooo well with the world and what is important/relevant to them
  10. Lol as an audiobook listener, I've certainly been surprised at the spelling of some names. I usually check before I post so I don't look doofy, but here are some of the Vorin Man Spellings in my head: Caladin Chandra Kai (the city) Rheoden Sorini Scion ... I'm sure there are plenty more, but those are what I can think of. I have to say the Elantris ones are the worst because you don't expect the long vowel Aon spelling when you're listening to it.
  11. Oh really?? Haha I don't think I caught that. I'm listening on the audiobook though so maybe it was corrected. I also keep making connections that I thought were original, then searching in here finding out is definitely old news lol. Like the mention of a flute in the Lord Ruler's room (Hoid's?)
  12. I'm doing a re-read of the cosmere, and am enjoying finding things I totally missed the first time. For example: I'm reading through Well of Ascension again and I'd love to hear some of your big realizations!
  13. Haha I ran out of rep for today too going through this thread. @FeatherWriter your keteks are incredible!! Here are my attempts. The first is a minor spoiler for Oathbringer: This one is more personal, exploring how dedication to my goals can allow me to dedicate my body to good. Also a haiku (which was the original assignment, thus not 5 seperate thoughts): Dedication be Embodied, wondrous body Be dedicated
  14. So can Hoid eat roadkill? (Or it's Rosharan equivalent... a hog that got out into a highstorm and was freshly crushed by a boulder?)
  15. Did I completely miss Tien having a spren? It's talked about in the stream like it's common knowledge, but I definitely didn't make that connection.
  16. I agree the name Hoid likely predates the shattering too. The point I was trying to make (unclearly haha) is that I get the feeling that he doesn't widely use his original name, so if people post shattering know him by a name, it likely isn't the original. That's pure speculation though.
  17. Oh could be! I haven't read dragonsteel
  18. My understanding from that WoB is that Cephandrius is old, but not the original. It seems to be the name the shards are most familiar with. Is liar of Partinel considered canon? The Heralds call him Midius, which would mean he used it after the shattering. On the subject of Cephandrius, I can't help but think of the Greek routes ceph (head) and andro (man). Do you think this implies a title that he was the "head of men" or "leader of men" at the time?
  19. I'm thinking I'll try publication order this time. I'm going to take a short break to read a few other things though. I'm really excited to read Mistborn again now that I have the whole cosmere context though! Thank you!! Haha better a little correction up front than wandering around the forum looking like one of the ten fools
  20. Very interesting theory! The phrases using "command" are especially interesting. And "survive" is very close to what I was thinking another of the commands would be.
  21. Hmmm that's a tough one. Roshar has a lot of the action right now, and an abundance of investiture which would be neat. But I think I'd have to cheat and say Silverlight even though it's not technically it's own planet because a university in the cognitive realm sounds dope.
  22. I *think* I'd say Hero of Ages because I loved watching everything resolve and Mistborn was my introduction to the cosmere so it was pretty intense. Sazed's ascension and all his knowledge coming together for a purpose was epic. Having said that I'm planning to do a cosmere re-read and now that I have everything to compare it to that might change.
  23. I did wonder about that, but I wasn't sure there was confirmation it actually ended up happening as it wasn't listed in the text given in the chapter. I may be looking for secrets where there are none It just stood out to me that he mentioned it specifically
  24. When Hoid meets Odium in the epilogue, he says that he put his name in the contract he drafted for Dalinar. Do you think Hoid's original name is hidden somewhere in the text?
