Cara finished cleaning up Orpheus's mess while Ni and Val were communicating. She heard commotion from upstairs. It sounded like someone was in trouble.
"Ni, Val, stay here." Cara whispered to them. "I'm going to go check out what's going on."
Cara sneaked out the door and started heading towards the place where all the commotion was coming from.
Cara saw Ni looking at her.
Why is he acting weird? Cara thought.
"What?" Cara whispered to Ni.
"Hi, Val, that's your name right? Anyways, um..this is Ni. I found him outside and now he's inside the tower." Cara didn't really know what else to say. It had been a weird day.
Cara cocked her head slightly when she saw Ni giving Orpheus a plate.
Cara let Orpheus pass. Sighing, she walked back into the room to clean up the mess. All of those sharp edges were dangerous to just leave there. She found a broom and dustpan and started sweeping up the shattered pieces.
Cara sighed, "Minuet is leaving because she thinks that we don't need her anymore. Ara is going with her to make sure that she is okay. They're leaving soon with Xeus."
Cara turned to leave again.
"Oh, you want to know about that. Well, Minuet and Ara are leaving me— I mean— our group forever." Cara said bitterly, eyes starting to well with tears at the thought.
Trying not show how much his coldness towards her hurt, Cara said, "Well, Ni and I were just investigating the loud noise. Now that we know what it is we'll be on our way. Come on, Ni."
Cara started heading back towards the door.
Cara followed Ni, trying to be as quiet as him. Soon they reached the room where all the noise was coming from. Cara carefully peeked her head in and saw Orpheus.
Might be able to scare him. Cara thought. That would be funny
Ducking back out of sight, Cara pointed to the room then put one finger over her lips in a shushing motion. She then made a scary face. Hoping that Ni would get the message, she began to creep into the room.
Daisy was perfectly fine with the conversation dying. She wondered how good the book was. She said that this was her 30th time reading it. It must be a really good book. After debating for a minute, Daisy hesitantly sat on Lilliana's shoulder and started reading.
