  1. Kaladin traipsing, spying and pulling all impossible missions around enemy, coming out to spoil their plans all while battling is depression is legendary.
  2. In RoW chapter 54, we see Renarin 'summoning' a vision which depicts the following: Dalinar standing tall wearing stark-white Shardplate, pierced with a black arrow. Odium is a window of yellow-white light breaking into smaller and smaller pieces, into infinity. Dalinar's 'sword' is facing the wrong direction, not fighting Odium. Odium cannot predict anyone's future who are close to Renarin. I'll start in reverse order, From Oathrbinger itself, Odium as noted by Taravangian has a black fissure in his future seeing sanctum which is Renarin and those who stay nearby him are also shrouded by this. I think Sja-anat knew 'enlightening' Glys would grant her to 'take a secret' from Odium. His biggest secret- His destruction. Dalinar is a Radiant without Shardblade but his 'sword' here could be his champion i.e as we know, himself. But its pointed in wrong direction which could imply that either Dalinar loses in contest of Champion and surrenders his soul to our new Odium, fighting wrong battles in Cosmere or maybe even though Dalinar wins, this current bargain will grant him only endless feuds as Everstorm-Fused-Regals keep coming back and the war goes on. I believe until and unless a loophole is discovered in this bargain, neither sides would gain anything. The second one is vital I believe. Earlier I thought it was Big T's Nightblood-plunging ascension but the vision shows 'Odium' breaking into smaller pieces 'into infinity'- Splintering. Bondsmith may not have blades but they can have Shardplates as Stormfather had mentioned in Oathbringer. It means Dalinar might swear his 4th Ideal in book 5...and then there's the black arrow thing. Could this be that anti-Voidlight/Stormlight which was used to kill Phendorana by Vyre? If so, then clearly El has a knife and this arrow could mean someone striking Radiants with their own invention. If we sum it up, I think the contest of champions is bound to fail and KRs have to find another way to sneak around Odium and Splinter him. Maybe they could reassemble Honor but that seems very farfetched and we don't know Cultivation's true motives yet as she can see future 'better'. Her involvement is also vital because so far she has been strangely neutral to both sides, granting Dalinar and Taravengian their paths. Reforming Oathpact also seems like a temporary solution and until and unless Kaladin-Szeth kidnap Ishar from Shinovar and haul him to get more insight about what the heck it was in first place, we can't be sure if that's even a perfect solution. There's also whole BAM thing which disrupted 'Roshar'. What do you all think about Renarin's vision in accordance to Contest of Champions and end of war?
  3. (This I mentioned in another Thread) Even I was terrified when he went on full berserker mode of anguish-radiant rage, and his eyes started glowing...I think this was the moment Odium wanted to corrupt his soul because if I recall correct, Odium/Rayse wanted to have Kaladin as his champion and there were fracture in his soul which could be expanded so that Odium could Connect...but also, I remember Odium mentioning that they (Vyre/Moash) has to do something about Kaladin since he was a 'bigger problem than anticipated' and 'will continue to do so' so, they have to 'deal with him'. And Odium foresaw something/s about Kaladin which clearly rattled him. Rayse/Odium failed to claim Dalinar, lost the Tower and Stormblessed. Vyre keeps repeating a single line that Kaladin 'can't be killed' because he's 'Stormblessed, the force of storms' and 'you cannot kill a storm'. IIRC, this line was repeated...more than 10 times in book. Which brings us back to part that Kaladin has some influence over highstorms, as proved by him deflecting in whole windspren-archangel manner which made Syl surprised. Earlier I thought he made a pressure vacuum using Adhesion but then Syl said that this was something she never recalled of having which means this could be something else? To add, Syl does mention that there are a lot of things Radiants were never able to discover about their powers due to constant wars. But Kaladin seems to have extreme control even during rage that he brandizes Reverse Lashing-Full Lashing combo to ripp Pursuer. That was terrifying to read. But I would be wrong if I don't admit that there are a lot of things about Kaladin that is not 'normal' for any Radiants. For example, his spidery senses while creeping in silence through Urithiru. Cryptics were clearly wary of him, as Elhokar mentioned the 'shadows go away' whenever only Kaladin appears. (In WoR) He's always symbolized with storms, something not even Dalinar has been mentioned. For all I know, he might become a grander character traversing through Cosmere.
  4. Yeah, as far as I know, Kaladin's the only character who is called as 'Child of Tanavast' and 'Son of Tanavast' and BS himself confirmed it had some cryptic meaning behind. I don't think that he could be descended as Tanavast's bloodline because that would just be any mundane fantasy trope- slave soldier, becomes hero, becomes a revered figure and then becomes a god. But this has to kept in mind- will he somehow be able to reassemble Honor? Help to splinter Odium? Even I was terrified when he went on full berserker mode of anguish-radiant rage, and his eyes started glowing...I think this was the moment Odium wanted to corrupt his soul because if I recall correct, Odium/Rayse wanted to have Kaladin as his champion and there were fracture in his soul which could be expanded so that Odium could Connect...but also, I remember Odium mentioning that they (Vyre/Moash) has to do something about Kaladin since he was a 'bigger problem than anticipated' and 'will continue to do so' so, they have to 'deal with him'. Earlier I thought he made a pressure vacuum using Adhesion but then Syl said that this was something she never recalled of having which means this could be something else? Spoilers: To add, Syl does mention that there are a lot of things Radiants were never able to discover about their powers due to constant wars. But Kaladin seems to have extreme control even during rage that he brandizes Reverse Lashing-Full Lashing combo to ripp Pursuer. That was terrifying to read. Cryptics were clearly wary of him, as Elhokar mentioned the 'shadows go away' whenever only Kaladin appears. (In WoR) He's always symbolized with storms, something not even Dalinar has been mentioned. BS mentioned his fundamental Stormlight Archive scene/moments he has been waiting to write was in WoR, Book 4 and 5, then 8 and 10. WOR- Kaladin Speaking Third Ideal and gaining Shardblade. RoW- It was mentioned that the scene takes place from Chapter 105 to 110. Earlier I thought it was Navani and Sibling thing but it had begun way before. The scene he wanted was Kaladin swearing 4th Ideal and gaining Shardplate, like defeating Pursuer then having people chant 'Stormblessed' with glorysprens around then finding Teft dead then falling into darkness then snapping and going whole beast-mode to bludgeon Pursuer and two more Heavenly Ones, then jumping to storm, then having SFTV live Connection with Tien and then swearing. This must be that scene. So, its natural to assume that in 5th book we could possibly see Kaladin swearing 5th Ideal. I also think being 'far enough into oaths' doesn't explain much because even Teft came close to 4th Ideal but remained uh, unconscious until Lift woke him up. Although I don't know if Oaths also have individual levels themselves but even in that case Kaladin seems to be fluctuating, plummeting down and down as grief, depression and fatigue caught up which meant he should be 'bumped down into oaths'...don't know what else to think about. Also, there is hinting of some Cosmere futuristic stuff dealing with our certain special character. Adonalsium knows what's gonna happen next.
  5. Kaladin also used Stormlight but he is the only Radiant using Stormlight who doesn't get unconscious because he's far enough into his oaths (Plus whole 'Child of Tanavast' thing) and he can use Honor's true surge aka Adhesion with Stormlight. If Venli wouldn't be having a voidspren in her gemheart, then she would be just of 1st ideal and could possibly be affected by Tower's corruption.
  6. She can use both the Investitures, so Voidlight is not affected by tower's corruption because that's what corrupting it.
  7. Lirin is heavily emotionally constipated, something I genuinely witness along medical personals but you're right, I do hold severe dislike for this character. That's the best thing about Sanderson that he wrote a character whom we could hate. Despite the fact that Kaladin tries hard to overcome his depression and battle fatigue and make himself an apprentice of Surgeon to continue learning medicine but then calling your own son a good slave is not going to earn you good parenting points. Far from it. Kaladin's second ideal came remembering his father but Lirin...I don't know he has this self-inferiority complex which manifests in form of impassive self-rumination that is projected in moral dilemma to handle your child's reverence among people. Lirin contradicts his own points that he doesn't care who is what but at the same time submits discord for Kaladin being a solder and saving lives which involves killing. Didn't Lirin order to not work on Roshone's son because he would die? What ripped me was when he said Kaladin was a monster while trying to protect Teft from the Stormform Singer. I am like---I so so hate you Lirin. But yeah, even Hesina is rather stuck behind and silent. We don't know anything about her but she sacrificed a lot of things to marry Lirin but then when Lirin was like yeah, lets shove Kaladin to Fused-pit because I've disowned him--what the freaking heck? Your son who is half without his powers is trying to protect the tower and its people and you want to have him killed? Nope. There you are. Nothing can come around even though your paint shash glyph on your forehead because I expect Lirin to return back to his colors in Book 5. Guess what, I hope we don't see much of him in book 5. That would be surgically healthy for all.
  8. I think there is more to that after reading his interlude with Odium and then, further along the parts especially Part 5. I'll have them noted in spoiler section below. At first (with severe reluctance), I thought in some sick twist way Moash was trying to protect Kaladin but after reading the interlude, it made me wonder that of course Odium will have plans for him. Kaladin is revered as a hero and we do know that his powers are different from typical Windrunners (remember when he deflected the highstorm in Oathbringer?). And then Odium foresaw something about Kaladin. Perhaps he wanted Kal to give him so that Odium can claim his soul and just like Dalinar chose to be better and refused to be Odium's champion, Kaladin tries throughout the book to overcome his grief. Odium mentions that he cannot strike Kaladin directly which means he is a threat, a threat for something we don't know about. I don't think Kaladin was Dalinar's champion but I truly think Odium was trying to make Kaladin his champion because not only it would be the winning move but also would crumble Dalinar's resolve of losing Kaladin and then fighting the very man who protected him numerous times. But I think Moash knows Kaladin's grief would kill him, and Vyre wants to be Odium's champion instead. It could possibly be that, like Moash clearing his path to be Odium's champion. Another is Kaladin referred as unbreakable storm- something to do with Honor? There is also that whole 'Child of Tanavast' theory going on which we must keep in mind. But why would BS repeat a single line throughout the book? There must be some meaning behind it which could be in accordance to what Odium saw about Kaladin's future that scared him enough to demand having his soul.
  9. Kaladin's beast mode unlocking was terrifying. Genuinely downright damn good and terrifying. At this point, there is no redemption for Moash. I have a support thread pinned in Character forum, feel free to destroy Vyre with words and predictions. So, yeah, one of the interesting moments was when Kaladin just blows the fuse after seeing Teft dead and the way he kills Pursuer...uh, like ripping his head apart and then goes to killl two Heavenly Ones without wasting a breath and then jumping down the storm...I don't think my heart could take that much. Wait, what's up with his eyes though? Venli noticed that they blazed with yellowish-red colour? Was it just Radiant Rage or Odium/Honor meshed interaction? (Someone should make an art of it, I'm sure someone would!)
  10. Yeah that's great! Thanks!
  11. KALADIN STORMBLESSED! You beautiful man, love you from Almighty's tenth name!

  12. DO IT! POUR IT ALL OUT HERE. Earlier I thought this 'Voidbringer' would come around but now, uh, no way I would see that happening anytime. But the way he talks about plans to Odium, something is really unsettling about him. Anyway hate him with Damnation's name. This man can only be redeemed in form of death.
  13. You will have Venli/Eshonai flashback from part 3.
  14. He was not being hunted by an evil force. That's all I can say.
  15. Just went through a 18 hour Rhythm of War marathon and its not yet over because my eyes started hurting and I had to pull on covers with anticipationspren hunting in my dreams. Edit: COMPLETED! Overall Reaction When I started watching reviews, it made me worried the way they spoke about limited character movement and groupings and arcs being convenient and all, and while I don't wholeheartedly agree to them, it did have its drawbacks but they were easily taken over by the way narrative shift transfected in all 'right' directions. RoW is the most unique fantasy book ever written to my belief because there are so many things, so many freaking things which BS defied and incorporated into this story. It seems to break the barrier by bringing the most prevalent issue forth which has been meagerly mentioned in any other book- Alignment of mind and heart. And that just won me over. Even though this book was supposed to be narrations from our main Listener/Parshendi sisters - Eshonai and Venli, I believe this is equally the book for Kaladin and Navani and boy, they were just phenomenal. Eshonai is dead but it was good to experience the world from her mind way before Warform and war with Alethkar had begun. Venli is a character you would love to hate but I abosolutely symphatized her cause. Sometimes some chose to relish in glory and some to let go, and Venli eventually realised that she might have taken a path to one route but her destination was something else. And Kaladin....Winds Alight, no words for this man. No words to describe how brilliant his character was. He was always my favorite and now he just breached that threshold to just soar up beyond limits. His arc was executed so brilliant, so fascinating, so apprehensive...it just makes me wonder even though this is an epic fantasy series, we do know who our real hero of first arc is and it doesn't comes from words or actions- it comes from heart and acceptance. Navani, a scholarly, searing surprise who just shines. I can't speak much without spoilers so hence, I'm gonna focus her stuff down below. We do have Adolin and Shallan, and their group heading to Lasting Integrity, and Danilar, Jasnah, Renarin and others fighting at Emul but they were restricted to certain parts and they were...not that refined compared to Kaladin-Navani-Venli arc. Part 1 Part 1 picks up with high-paced action, setting the world after Everstorm and Fused Returned to Roshar. A lot of stuff have happened in between, a lot many Radiants have been found and some bonds have strengthened and some have weakened. This was more of a conclusion itself, setting arcs for rest of book to follow in different directions. I wouldn't say I loved the first part because a lot of things were deliberately 'pushed' to move in certain directions which seemed too calculated to not be ignored by our main characters yet they fell into that lair and separated themselves to different journeys. Alright, part 1 spoilers (WITH MY SCREAMING REACTIONS) A LOT OF SPOILERS! Interludes: - Syl Finally, so glad to have her prespective in this book. This was something I've been looking forward to even after reading it before in newsletter earlier this year. Syl appears to be feeling helpless to provide aid for Kal's battle fatigue and PTSD but it also seems she has a darkness within her which scares her but she wants to explore it so that she can understand Kaladin. She talks to stormfather and mentions that Kaladin is Dalinar's champion which our rumbling spren scoffs and grumbles away. She then goes to Dalinar and they have genuine conversation about his nature as Bondsmith and asks his help. He does something to her? I'm not sure if the memories were because of her strengthening bond to Kaladin or Dalinar's Connection influence. - Sja-anat Once nice Unmade, seeking a path for herself. I like her. She is planning something against Odium and...I don't think she exactly is evil? She just wants to feel....makes me wonder if BAM was trying to deliver justice for freedom before she got trapped. -Taravangian Go to hell and burn like you burned Diagram. Creepy, cunning and caverning old man. Part 2 We get the 1st group and 2nd group story continuity here. The characters get split to their arcs, Kaladin-Navani stay at Urithiru, Adolin-Shallan to Shadesmar and Dalinar-Jasnah-Renarin to Emul. This was one of my favorite parts because we got to see...so much rationality going on. Especially Kaladin's arc and the beautiful development that occured to his story here. Navani, always clever devised plans to capture her unknown spanreed contact while Adolin leaves Dalinar to Shadesmar with lingering tension. This part was like the calm and storm both packed together. It was the second build up which concluded to a surprised event which we were never anticipating to happen so quick and dear boy, the surprises were shocking! Spoilers pillage: Interludes: - Vyre I speak again. I do not like this man. I absolutely do not like him and I'm just out from second part of book. There is something terrible inside him and that 'hollowness' he expresses is really worrying. Alright, I don't feel good for Kaladin here. Why does everyone is busy tormenting him! HE HAS ENOUGH ALREADY! And now Odium says to Moash that Kal is a bigger problem than anticipated and was forseen to be one. I don't understand what this is but if he kills you #$@% Odium-Moash-All horde of bad singers-lunatic Fused then so be it. HE WILL KILL YOU ALLL! Wait, why does Moash says that Kaladin can't be killed? Intriguing....makes me wonder...yeah, just what you are thinking. UHHHH! They want Kaladin out of picture. Must be because his nearness to Honor which makes Odium wary. In that way, all Windrunners are of honor but there is something special about Kaladin we all know. #$% you Moash. He's gonna create trouble. - Lift She isn't affected by Radiant-power-outrage! And wait, where are these chickens coming from? I know they are...aviar maybe? Haven't read Sixth of the Dusk properly to deduce anything. Mraize....I hate you. -Taravangian Skipped it. Part 3 My second favorite part behind Part 5!!! Help yourself with the spoilers Part 4 was well, my least favorite of the whole book. There could've been a lot of thing spared from Lasting Integrity arc because even before half of our book, we had to ignore majority of the crew to go back and just focus on Shallan and Adolin and I swear, even if they are married, it makes me cringe seeing them together. There is something about Sanderson that just...never resonates with any romantic arc. Also, Shallan's secret was completely unappealing to me. That thing got birthed in this book and ended in this book as if BS was forced to have a personality absorbed and that was needed. I didn't see Kelek part coming and MAYA WAS THE MVP of Lasting Integrity arc! "WE CHOSE!" Navani's plot was headlining in this part but I swear, you don't need to repeat few lines about frequency and axons over the pages. We get what we are seeing, we get there is matter-anti matter annihilation, we know light-energy correspondence with frequency and the tones of Roshar felt a way off for Navani who for half-decade of her life has never given damn about tones and rhythms. But her inventions were great. More interesting was her own plan backfiring. Bridge Four here were amazing. It was good to get perspectives from Rlain and Dabbid, the latter was someone who surprised me but that's Sanderson's beauty. It shows how tight-knit they are together. Venli's helping to save Kaladin's life against Lirin's wishes was also great. And the Kaladin chapter with Wit was amazing. I wasn't expecting Kaladin and Wit to interact again but as usual, Wit swooped down into Braize with a great story and empowered Kaladin. IIRC, this is third time when Wit told a story to Kaladin, more than any other character and I wonder if its a setup for something else. The Dog And the Dragon story was wonderful. &^%$ Odium for torturing Kaladin during his worst states. Teft's POV was sweet and his interaction with Phendorana was super funny. Did I mention Kaladin has become a reverence figure by now? Everyone's painting shash glyph on their heads to support him. Plus, you get tonnes of, like tonnes of fanclubbing Kaladin parts in this section. And even the whole book. Part 5 BEST PART OF THE BOOK! P.S- Kaladin was cosmically phenomenal in this book but we kinda know. Nothing wrong in knowing more. What to expect now for book 5? Honestly, I have no idea what's gonna happen but these speculations are what I can derive after reading:
  16. YEAH! My Kal baby does it! I can die in peace, embraced in arms of stormblessed!
  17. Kaladin doesn't speak 'Fourth Ideal'?!!!!
  18. I have started reading already. Wish me all stormblessings for this unquenching, unknown and undulating path! Journey before Destination!
  19. Starting Rhythm of War now! Wish me for the storm I am going to ride this whole day!
Can't wait to start sharing with you'll!

  20. Of course, however am I not aware of a English word for 'discrimination against eye color'!
  21. I don't think so...And I guess I'm not allowed to say anything beyond that in this thread. It's a good finding though!
  22. The forerunners of foreboding feelings are killing me regarding this. I don't know what to speak about Kaladin's arc anymore after seeing/reading reviews. In fact, everyone was pretty much talking more about Kaladin than any other character. Everyone unanimously voted that his arc, plot and character was brilliantly executed- in fact the best delivery in whole Rhythm of War so I was certain everything would fall into our 'expectations'... Until, I heard the podcast by Legendarium. I hope these are just jitters and we do get him to speak!
  23. I disagree with your asseveration. Shallan is not written as an inverse of Kaladin. Every character is an unique representation of nonpareil traits, flaws and plots. Also, your comparison between Kaladin's hated for lighteyes and Shallan's misconduct regarding darkeyes is not justified. - Kaladin did not hate lighteyes since beginning. As a surgeon, his father taught him to never be partial for a patient. He liked Laral, who is lighteyed girl and they even had great friendship until Roshone came and messed up. His views towards him in particular soured. Even then, Kaladin looked up to Amaram as a honorable lighteyed soldier. And then, that battle with Haleran Davar changed everything. Of course, watching your friends being killed and then being branded a slave by the very man you admired will swell violent hatred for them. Added to that, he was a lighteyed who took advantage of power, just like they always have and that was the main reason for his hatred which is condoned. Despite his hatred, Kaladin protected Dalinar and Adolin without hesitation, knowing the consequences. He is not racist towards lighteyes...in fact, I don't think Vorin nations have racism amongst themselves but they do have class difference. And as a person who comes from a country where class system is fairly an abundant differential factor, I understand (My 'class' a century ago ruled over 'lower classes') - On many instances, Shallan has behaved in a manner which could be called 'abuse of her title' Calls darkeyes as peasants on many instances. The moment when Adolin states that 'bridgeboy has Shardblade and he's a darkeye.' Takes Kaladin's boots which is by far the worst introduction between two main leads. BS wanted it to be humor-filled and while initially I felt that, if we peek from Kal's POV then it was unwise of her. Refuses to 'acknowledge' Kaladin's presence despite his ranking. The carriage scene. Refers him as 'bridgeman' instead of captain, tells him to 'go away and clean his bridge'. But, again this is 'expected' of her as someone doused in Vorin indoctrination and having slaves in her house. Also, her household wasn't stable by million miles. I do not hold severe dislike for Shallan. She was good enough in TWoK, ignoring her mirthless jokes. Her arc became even better in WoR and continued for Part 1 and 2 of Oathbringer but after that, she became really annoying to me. Kaladin at least acknowledges his fears, his flaws and tried to be better. Shallan does no such thing and even after years, she chooses to hide in her lies rather than confront the truth. And don't get me started on their trauma levels because again, that cannot be 'compared' but we do know who had faced more trauma than the other but tried to better at every given chance. Shallan is someone I cannot relate myself to as I do with Kaladin or even Jasnah. And it's not because of her multiple identities. I hope she manages to overcome the lies and face an eventual truth. Edit: After seeing reviews, I think I'm gonna be disappointed in expecting any improvement on Shallan's character.
  24. Shouldn't we add David and Mizzy's name on list as well?
  25. The plan sucks. It's like you're making green ducks wear heels to do ballet.
