What's Kaladin's secret sauce? [RoW + cosmere]
Ramona Tehradin replied to Zedseayou's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He failed. People have been speculating that Kaladin will give in and all, but I don't think they forget that way before, Kaladin was alone and now, just like he used to help people...there are others to help him. That is the importance of their Surge, to bind the knights together. -
What's Kaladin's secret sauce? [RoW + cosmere]
Ramona Tehradin replied to Zedseayou's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes. It's unique for only Kaladin. Brandon confirmed it during Stuttgart signing. Dalinar, Venli and Eshonai are called Son/Child of Honor, Son/Child of Odium but only Kal is called Tanavast. -
After RoW, we now get confirmation that spren/Voidspren can be killed by various means. The discovery of Navani-Reboniel's hybrid Light and anti-Investiture probed a new window to destroy embodiments of creations which is concerning but at the same time provides an opportunity to be explored more. However, the methods have been subjected to both sides and now its a race of distributing these Anti-Lights in form of armament in battlefield. However, we are forgetting that there are some other ways to kill spren as well, which excludes breaking of oaths because that was something done from mutual acceptance. I'm gonna list them down including something we've forgotten since Oathbringer: Using Anti-Voidlight We all know anti-voidlight destroys the immortal essence of Voidspren and prevents them from being reborn again. Gavilar had it way before Everstorm, something having gotten from Braize. I don't know how he got it from there or who gave him but clearly his plans included to hurt Odium since he wanted to bring back desolations- which means clearly someone else knew about it, perhaps one of the Fused and contacted him just the way Venli was contacted by Ulium? Anyway, we know anti-voidlight could be a great weapon for Radiant faction. Using Anti-Stormlight Just like Anti-Voidlight, Anti-Stormlight destroys Radiant spren i.e completely renders them incapable of forming again even in Cognitive Realm. This is worrying since the apparatus and instructions have been already sent to Kholinar by Reboniel to produce more amount of this violent Light. It also shows that when a spren is killed, The knight feels terrible pain as if their soul is being ripped. If sprens start dying, there would be perhaps some spren would be willing to bond back to them but the soul-trauma received would push them into a catatonic state. Which is even more concerning when it comes to usage of Anti-Stormlight.... But there are two more methods of killing spren which was shown: Bringing them to Physical Realm This is terrible. This left me tittering in corner of my eyes despite being a Biotechnologist myself. But I think bringing Spren back to Physical Realm in their full bodies kills them as we saw at Ishar's warcamp. So...a Bondsmith can possibly bring any kind of spren to Physical Realm and they'll die as they are not Connecting, without Intent. I believe this could be applied for Voidspren as well but this is a terrible method and we have only three Bondsmits- Dalinar, Navani and Ishar, and one of them is bound to Tower, one of them would perhaps not do such a thing and another is a raving lunatic. Almighty know what might happen to poor spren. Which brings us to the last method we all are forgetting- Kaladin killing a Voidspren in Kholinar using Syldagger During raiding Kholinar palace, Kaladin summoned Syl as a dagger and used it to pin one of the Voidspren that was able to cut it. The spren screamed and seemed to rip into a thousand pieces until it faded into nothingness. Syl experienced a terrible feeling for doing it but surely they killed a spren in some uncanny manner we don't know. I have no idea why it wasn't discussed further or Kaladin never mentioned it again and we just jumped around it. I don't know if it is possible only for Kaladin and Syl or other Radiants as well but this must be looked into. So I guess these methods are known to us which can be used to kill spren which is an important aspect of war. The question is, if these methods could be applicable for powerful sprens like Unmade or Godsprens as well which could be very concerning because usage of these methods on either sides would result in catastrophic consequence. I would specially like to discuss more about Kaladin killing the spren since it hasn't been discussed.

What's Kaladin's secret sauce? [RoW + cosmere]
Ramona Tehradin replied to Zedseayou's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh wait, just in case there weren't more stuff...there are more stuff. Wit's special interest in Kaladin seems to be having more than just stories to inspire. Of course, whatever Wit does its for a reason so its natural to assume that each part of the story has something to do with Wit's past experiences. We can ponder upon the fact that Kaladin is the only character whom Wit has spoken three stories, something no other character in SA was bested upon. Added to that, the Trailman's flute was given to Kaladin for a reason and it was returned to him again for a reason....And Wit coming in to Braize where Kaladin was tormented by Odium through his Connection with Moash to give in. Wit did say that it wasn't fair for Odium and then went on to propel Kaladin. This brings us to being Son/Child of Tanavast theory. We all know that Tanavast was present during which Adonlasium was splintered and then he accepted the Shard of Honor and Ascended to it. Wit was also present and seems to having kinship with Tanavast and I guess it all connected one way or another. Maybe Wit sees a fragment of his former friend in face of a special hero who seems to inspire thousands through his honorable selfless embodiment. This Son/Child of Tanavast means a lot more than people give credit for, something we need to investigate since the time of Splintering. -
What's Kaladin's secret sauce? [RoW + cosmere]
Ramona Tehradin replied to Zedseayou's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It was Dalinar. -
The Unmade were made to correspond to each Order of Knight Radiants except Bondsmith-Windrunner's Adhesion Surge because that's Honor's true Surge which none of Fused could mimic. I haven't also seen any Fused making Cultivation's true Surge i.e Progression so we can say Reboniel is naturally fascinated by Adhesion as its binding of bonds and Oaths and we know the only thing which can even depower or imprison Shards are Oaths. Note: Yelig-nar is said to provide all ten surges but Amaram tried and failed to use Surge of Adhesion so I can say they can't have that Surge with them.

El is a lunatic Fused, a kin interested in Reboniel's invention. My bet is he's a former member of Nine and did something during Desolations that cost him to be stripped off his title.

Kaladins and leshwi’s relationship moving forward
Ramona Tehradin replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
They have mutual respect for each other, bound by Honor's code. That's it. Personally, I've never shipped anyone with Kaladin because he's a character who doesn't need a partner to make progress in his arc. I used to think Shallan and he might have some potential but was happy when things turned find for them later. So yeah, Leshwi and Kaladin are more like honorable warriors fighting in different factions.- 35 replies

What's Kaladin's secret sauce? [RoW + cosmere]
Ramona Tehradin replied to Zedseayou's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That is a plausible theory but then as far as I know, Cryptics tend to remain away from prying eyes which could mean they should've stayed away from Dalinar/Shallan or even Renarin who'd already bonded to Glys by that time but Elhokar only mentions that when Kaladin comes, the shadows go away. Again, there might be nothing to this or there must be some politics stuff as you've just mentioned. See, we know Stormfather created Syl and nine others and only Syl survived. Earlier, Syl being related to Honor would've been discarded but we do realise that Stormfather...either has been lying about a lot of things or isn't aware of a lot of stuff. For example, he constantly nagged that humans killed spren and started recreance but in RoW we realised its spren-humans together who made that decision together. So I grow wary of Stormfather's revelation now a days...and remember when the Honorspren were accusing Adolin that Stormblessed tried to kill Syl, I do remember that honorspren mentioning 'the most precious of our kind...Ancient Daughter'. You theory must not be discarded. He's natural with grace. BS said a lot of Spiritual Realm Connection might manifest in weird ways. Thanks for mentioning this! I had completely forgotten! yeah, nobody bothered to invest more into this. -
Which was "the scene" Brandon mentioned
Ramona Tehradin replied to Czernobog's topic in Stormlight Archive
It is Kaladin's path to 4th Ideal clearly because it is the only sequence that begins from Chapter 105.....unless Brandon was wishing Moash to drop Teft's body and keep dropping it for next five chapters or Navani (Who was not planned as a central character) and Roboniel (Who is fairly new) are conversing about passions. -
I might be reading too much but it appears Kaladin is the only character whom Hoid/Wit has told three stories in total and even gave him his Trailman's Flute to play it and master it. And Kal lost it but eventually it was found by end of book....along with that wooden horse of Tien. It genuinely made Wit worried that Odium was using hi visions to torment Kaladin on Braize perhaps? I wonder if it a set up for something grander...

I also think BAM's imprisonment has to do something with lunacy in cases of Heralds. Kelek's notes in part 4 epigraphs made me realize that trapping BAM did a lot worse than expected and it afflicted all over Roshar. It can't be a coincidence that Singers lost their Identity and Heralds began losing their sanity, so I believe they all are connected. I think BAM is somewhere is Shinovar, and those mysterious people know almost everything about Expulsion and Desolations. The possibility of Ghostbloods wanting BAM has to do with Kell's freeing himself from Scandrial as stated earlier.

Forgive me, I used the wrong vocabulary here. I meant his arc was one of the core aspects of this book because he gets second most screentime after Navani. See, we have varied opinions of our characters but I don't think BS will write something which would be waste for his plot. It might not satisfy us, for example I was left unappeased by Shallan-Adolin arc but that is absolutely integral to our story. It might not be our passion, but clearly it is needed for the story. And removing Kaladin is going to bring castastrophic disability to this book because by now, he's become more than just a Highmarshal but I'm not gonna spend words and time explaining the obvious. Brandon decided to explore the theme of mental illness in this book, something which has never been delved in many fantasy novels and I commend him for doing something so fresh and unique. You can't keep fighting and shrugging the screams and killing off just like that without facing the eventual blunt trauma. No book addresses this. This book does and that was amazing. Some of us prefer action, some prefer emotional aspects and some prefer nail-biting intense moments. This book had it all. And deep down, we all are bound by our similar bond for being Sanderson fans.

[Discuss] Windrunner 5th Ideal
Ramona Tehradin replied to Mason Wheeler's topic in Stormlight Archive
There's always more. We are forgetting his ruthless edge that crept out after Teft died. We don't know what Odium did to him at that moment, and Kaladin clearly mentions that while he is not shameful of his failures...he hasn't forgotten them completely. I think he's the only character whom Wit has met and told three stories so far so there's definitely Wit's fascination. So far, we never even saw how Kaladin works on diagnosing mental illness in accordance to his own self and there's whole Sylphrena's darkness pending. We also have whole 'Son/Child of Tanavast' thing that is clearly intentional. We have Kaladin to figure his new direction because clearly he can't always end up without jumping out of war. We have the Champion thing which isn't cleared and IIRC, Sanderson would come up with another crazy plot that'd blow our mind. Ex. Were any of us expecting him to become a therapist in this book and start helping people? We have his spidery senses that alert him in a special kind of way. He's even a great spy without Lightweaving as shown when he snuck around a Tower full of Fused. The Honorspren thing has yet to be solved so well, while Kaladin might not get that amount of screentime like RoW in Book 5, Sanderson's not gonna let him become Adolin of all books. -
We are going to have different opinions, your Passion for disliking Kaladin has been heard but unfortunately, his arc was the best- the core of Rhythm of War. For me, he's the best character of Stormlight Archive and I pretty much believe in same spectrum of your 2nd line.

The whole 'Child of Tanavast' title being dedicated solely to Kaladin makes me wonder if we are going to come to reassembling Honor in book 5.

Stormlight: The Next Generation
Ramona Tehradin replied to Use the Falchion's topic in Stormlight Archive
I want Kaladin to remain single. I think he's a character who doesn't need a partner. I used to ship him with Shallan but she became absolutely annoying and weak, and oh yeah, let's not forget insulting. -
for fun "Called It!" Thread [Support]
Ramona Tehradin replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Let's line what I theorized and managed to Call it! These came after reading preview chapters: Gavilar's spheres are more than they seem to be. (Super correct) Lirin and Kaladin are going to clash over their idealogies. (Kinda expecting from Oathbringer.) Shallan will get another personality and continue to be annoying than ever. (Forgive me, but I can't help it). Two more lunatic bananas called Heralds might show up to irritate. (Well, we got three Heralds.) A bromance moment between Adolin and Kaladin. (no matter how small it was!) Kaladin taking care of Gallant. (Would have loved that) Adolin will revive aid Maya in front of Honorspren but will die in process. Some interactions between Kaladin and Laral. Jasnah and Kaladin ship. Navani's phantom spanreed user was Sibling. (Had it coming) Leshwi will defect to Radiant side, so will Venli. ( I guess it middle ground) Venli will kidnap one of Radiants to learn more about her abilities, some Stoneward perhaps. Stoneward sprens are called Peakspren. (YEAHHHHH!) Lift will sneak her way along Honorspren Fortress. Dustbringers will be very prevalent. Navani will bond to Sibling. ( We hard it coming) Kaladin will not speak 4th Ideal. (In my life, I've never been so freaking happy to be declared wrong.) Lirin will die. (oh, I so wished!) Might see thermonuclear version of stormlight-bombs being dropped from Fourth Bridge over enemy forces. (Maybe we could see Anti-voidlight stuff dropping in book 5?) Dalinar-Jasnah will lose their battle in Emul because Jasnah makes a rookie mistake. The Mink is a Dustbringer. (honestly I thought there would be lot about Dustbringers) The Reshi King would be 'good' Dustbringer for Radiant faction. (clues where he vanished?) People remaining at tower would be Kaladin, Szeth, Navani, Renarin, Taln, Ash and Zahel. Taravangian will die not before betraying Dalinar and co. The power-sucking fabrial used on Kaladin will be used again. (HA! I KNEW THAT SO MUCH) We will learn about Cultivations Vessel. ( We do!) Will get a Rock, Chiri-Chiri, Axix, Odium, Nale, Lift, Lirin/Hesina/Laral interlude. Kaladin will defeat The Pursuer. (OH YEAH!!!!) Sylphrena is more than what it seems to be. (I guess...?) Additional theories that didn't came true: We will learn how Shard Honor was splintered by Odium and somehow, get more into Shardic formation and destruction. It has been said that a Shard cannot be ever completely be destroyed so I was thinking Dalinar might learn to reassemble Honor. (this might sprout in book 5?) There will be more information embedded in Elia Stelle about human arrival from Ashyn and cause of Desolations. I find it difficult to perceive how nobody even muttered a single word about the single most important information that lurched Recreance and shook foundation of Knight Radiants. Kaladin will wield Nightblood. (Just a personal wink) Rlain will become a Stoneward. To conquer the tower, Reboniel will use a violent form of plague which she managed to inculcate only to humans, not singers and that would cause people at tower to slowly perish as the epidemic spread. Things I was NOT expecting. Lirin to remain alive. (xD) Jasnah and Wit! (I absolutely do not rust them. Forgive me but it makes me cringe to see anyone with Jasnah) Teft dying. Moash living. (Should have died after everything.) Taravangian freaking ascending! (nope, nope nope) Kaladin using Shardplate to save others, including Leshwi. Rlain a Truthwatcher. Kaladin becoming a therapist. Ishar and sprens (the biotechnologist inside me was intrigued but the reader was digusted) All different kinds of lights. Lift is powered by Lifelight. Taidakkar is...Kelsier! Truthwatcher spren are called Mistspren -
I think the first part would be taking place in ten days, and we'll get a similar RoW jump-start direct into action. Kaladin and Szeth would fly to Shinovar and search for Ishar. Dalinar would try to delve deeper into the contest of champions. I think we'll not get Adolin or Shallan/Jasnah-Navani arc in part 1 because we already are getting an very essential plot taking place in ten days. It's only fair that the first part remains dedicated to Three-four characters without any flashbacks. On the contrary, maybe the part 1 will be divided into 5 days, involving Ishar and Shinovar plot and part 2 will be of rest five days of Kaladin trying to have therapy session with Isi and Dalinar learning more about his powers? Either way, I think Shallan-Adolin plot must take a subsequent backstage in book 5.

[Discuss] Windrunner 5th Ideal
Ramona Tehradin replied to Mason Wheeler's topic in Stormlight Archive
Odium/Toadium- I win this contest of champions!!!! Dalinar- NOOOO!!!! A blazing white figure fell down from darkest skies, like a falling star, like the heralds from Tranquiline halls. A brilliant Shardspear gleamed brighter than the sun, brighter than the day ever saw and his body scintillated with hundred thousand pinpricks of light, like stars illuminating the blackest night. His eyes smoldered as the birth and death of star, brighter and brighter until pure white energy wafted over his skin- Almighty's true essence. And when he spoke, it wasn't Stormlight that puffed from his lips. Kaladin (giving some signature pose) - I.....AM.....HONOR! The Stormfather grumbled in surprise- Oh, damn....I have been missing that all along!- 178 replies

Which was "the scene" Brandon mentioned
Ramona Tehradin replied to Czernobog's topic in Stormlight Archive
I swung between Kal's 4th Ideal and Navani's bonding with Sibling but then I realised that Brandon hadn't orginally planned Navani to be a lead character but the scene he was painting has been with him for quiet a significant amount of time. Plus, Navani's bonding with Sibling was...less amplified than Kaladin's 4th Ideal. I mean that scene was freaking, freaking stormfreaking awesome, the whole sequence actually! My favorite scene from the book, no matter how much it was predicted! -
I absolutely need an interior map of this place. Good luck to Issaik.
