It wasn't until the plants brought the delivery when Sundew was worried. It was a package, meant to be delivered to some place in central Buffalo. She had intercepted it luckily, but it didn't do anything to make her less worried. The Reckoners were back in Buffalo. >>> An old man walks through the outskirts of Buffalo. The city, when it was moved to its position in the great lake, included parts that weren't really the city. And although many edges of the floating landmass had been developed into ports, some still remained. The old man's name was lost to time, but to the citizens of Buffalo, he was known as "Old Tom" due to his age. He had been around for a while, and was generally publicly respected. People smiled and waved at him when he passed by, and some would ask about his day. He was a secret legend among the townsfolk of Buffalo While Fish's leadership tended to squash the noisy ones who were respected in the city, but Old Tom was an exception. The water epic never really had a real reason to kill him, and there were reasons to keep him around for later. But none of Fishes reasons mattered. As soon as he was out of eyesight from the streets of the city, a root started to tunnel in from the ground. Verdant growth blossomed and grasped his ankle. The Old Tom noticed, but by then it was already too late. A dark figure had already slit the throat of the man, and was steadily advancing towards the edge of the water, out of sight. The vine shriveled and decayed, becoming little less than fertilizer for future plants. It was an assassination assisted by plants. The plant took the body with it, dragging it into the deep soil. The only evidence of the murder that remained was the pools of crimson blood, already drying in the sun and frigid winds. Despite the cryptic clues, the intention was clear: this death was to set an example.

Granted, but they come with insane tariffs and taxes I wish for bone marrow -
Correct. By the time of Edmonton, it is still unknown, and Edmonton cannotically happens after. Besides, if Sundew knew you knew Sundew' weakness... She would probably have to kill you and I want to avoid that. You have to be aware that by saying things like "Sundew tended to avoid large forested areas" that is direct godmodding. Just a thing to keep in mind.

The plants grew. Of course plants grew! They thrived, lived, and flourished. But Sundew, one of the Fractured States' greatest plant epics, changed that. She made them live with a purpose. These plants grew to serve a purpose. The waterwheels existed to defend against unauthorized sea vehicles. The gas pods existed to counter other Epics' prime invincibilities. But as all plants grew from a seed, they need a place to be nurtured. They needed a place to develop and mature. They needed a caregiver to watch over them. Even if Sundew could instantly accelerate their growth, it didn't mean there wasn't benefits to letting them grow naturally. Sundew knew she could take over the city if she wanted. But what use was that? Fish's water powers interacting strangely with her plants, and she had no real reason to expand her territory. Sundew herself was an illusive fellow. She was scarcely seen, spoken of only under hushed tones, as if speaking to loudly about her would get them killed. She was regarded as a force, bringing the wrath of nature to the city of Buffalo, rather than an epic. Some even doubted that the plants came from an epic, but all knew there was no other explanation. She had already implemented several vital hinge points of her other plans. Nearly all of the plants in and around the city were modified by her gift. She whispered to her plants, and they whispered back. The city was a large supply of information, and her plants were able to harvest that. Her plants told her all about what she had missed, and how she was perceived. Maybe she started her underwater expansion as a bit of a test toward the rowdy water epic who thought he owned more of the city than he did. Maybe it was so she could remind Fish of his place. Maybe it was part of a greater plan. Just like plants, the truth would be revealed in time. But for now, Sundew enjoyed her power. Let him make the first move, Sundew thought, show him the power you have over him.

A knock sounds on the door of the clinic. It repeats, 3 times, with a pause, and then repeats again. It is a sequence.
