  1. Guns aren't fun. They only helped popularize several movie genres. But in all seriousness, it is still nice to have a reason has to why this very useful tool isn't being used by people who may have access to it during the end of the/a world. And by this, I mean specifically worldhoppers, as I understand a civilization not inventing them during the time period we see.
  2. Okay, I refuse to see spoilers, and the RoW thread and previews are included in that, so I am fairly grateful to how Chaos and the staff handle it, and yet, there are still a few slip-ups that happen that are really annoying. The one currently on my mind is when you hover over a person's name, you see what topic they're looking at, but you don't know what forum that's in, so when you see an interesting title, you may click on it and not realize that it's on the spoiler thread and you read the post until you bother to look up and see you're in the forbidden forum. Which is always a little sad when you have successfully avoided spoilers for over two months. So what similar problems have come up with avoiding spoilers, and what solutions are there to these problems? My solution to mine would be to highlight the topic name in another color to warn it's in a spoiler thread and you shouldn't click on it.
  3. So, as my user name suggests, I like to write a lot, and I have a lot of ideas on things to write. Many of those ideas are taking your typical fantasy elements and making a new spin on them in some way, my favorite trying to bring more science in with all the magic. One of my favorite Fantasy creatures is the werewolf because WEREWOLVES ARE AWESOME! But there is one element of werewolves I have never liked all that much, and that is the one where they cannot be harmed by anything other than silver. However, in a fantasy thing I'm writing (That may or may not be connected to my Sources of the Universe series that I may be uploading chapter by chapter onto this forum in creator's corner that you should definitely read and maybe leave some thoughts or a review on) where I am trying to make more scientific versions/explanations to many fantasy tropes, my explanation for the silver weakness is that it has a similar effect lead has on humans. Now I will be doing some research on lead poisoning, but besides the fact I'm somewhat crap at researching things still, I was wondering what information and tidbits could provide on the nature of lead poisoning and if Silver can do something similar somehow (I know Silver is not toxic, as I have eaten sweets that have a thin layer of silver; what I'm asking is how to make silver poisonous to another being. Like, what would their biology have to be like to have that be the case, and feel free to throw ideas for that as Werewolves in my story are technically full on shapeshifters who don't know how to do more than one form (Do ask) so yeah, anyway to make a lifeform be vulnerable to silver will b appreciated) Now, I could just say 'magic' or that is just how their biology is and be done with that, but... that explanation makes me want to rip my eyes out, so I have come here to see that is not the case. Also, do please read my book, even if it is just to point out scientific errors. Would love that.
  4. Explain yourself. This happens way too much. Clearly, I am a chromium ferring without even knowing it.
  5. Saw it and my only two answers are 'Yes' and 'relatable'.
  6. All interesting things. Despite what some think, politics in stories are so FASCINATING. And yeah, I need to see how Kaladin being 'child of Tanavast' leads up to. Also, what's Off-key Kazoo?
  7. Here are Questions I had hoped would be answered in RoW. As we can see, I was over analyzing my brain off. 1. How is Szeth going to be integrated after his massive reputation as the Assassin in White? How are Kaladin and Jasnah going to react to him? Will Daliner have some hatred for the man despite seemingly accepting him? Will the monarchs want him dead? Will he let him go to Shinovar? Will we finally see him talk to his spren? How will people react to NightBlood? How will the SPREN react to Nightblood? How is everything going to react to Nightblood? I have so many questions! 2. How is Jasnah going to rule? What struggles will she be having, and what complications of her being a Radiant will that bring? How is the Vorin church going to react to a heretic being put on the throne? How is her rule going to look like? What's happening with Althkar; what is she going to decide to do about the occupation? How is she going to teach Jasnah (Edit: I meant Shallan!) with all of these new duties? I have so many questions! 3.What's happening with Adolin's and Daliner's Blades? Will we see Adolin become an Edgedancer? (The Spren is an Edgedancer one, right?) Will Daliner revive Oathrbinger and be a part of two orders? How will the Stormfather react to that, knowing that dead spren can be revived? And on the topic of Spren, what is happening with the Nightwatcher? Is someone going to bond her? PLEASE do, because that will be fascinating even without the possibility of Old Magic. 4. Vasher/Zahel and Azure/Vivenna need explaining. What's happened? What character drama shall I be eagerly devouring? Why is he there, why did he give up Nightblood, how will he react to seeing Nightblood again, will we see him awaken and start helping, what's Azure going to do when she finds him? I have so many questions! 5. What's happening with the Heralds? How will people react to them? What do they know? Will Jasnah actually kill them? I. Have. So. Many. Questions. 6. What letters are we going to see from Hoid this book? Are we going to see new Shards? Is it going to be responses to previous ones? Something else entirely? What is Hoid doing? I have way too many questions! 7. What's happening with Sja-anat? Will someone bond her? Will she successfully turn? How would all the Spren react to that when they all hate her? WIll the Stromfather be against it? What order would be, bondsmith? What do the Gostbloods want with her? What are the goals of the Ghostbloods? I HAVE SO MANY STORMING QUESTIONS! So those are a few of my tortured thoughts and questions. Please leave yours below. (Also, NO PREVIEW SPOILERS. If you post anything that spoils anything, shame on you.)
  8. Don't ask me why but I always thought it was spern.
  9. If I couldn't get a joke from my own book, I would stop writing.
  10. Godspeed.
  11. If a person is gender-fluid, wouldn't they change multiple times?
  12. My friend, I suggest reading all the posts, as this has indeed been brought up. In fact, an answer Is just three posts above you.
  13. YOU DARE UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF BOOKS, MORTAL?!
  14. For those of you who don't know what half of those words mean because your vocabulary is simply average, here are the definitions. Antagony- obsolete) Contest; opposition; antagonism. noun. Malignance- the quality of being malign aka evil in nature or effect; malevolent. Revanche- a policy or movement aimed at achieving the return of a nation's lost territory (frequently with reference to France's desire to regain Alsace–Lorraine after its annexation in the Franco-Prussian War).
  15. I am now tempted to hack your device. Also, same.
  16. Okay, I'm following you now, because I need more pretty stuff like this.
  17. Funny story. From whenever my last reply was in my previous staus update, my mother decided to bring some logs from a tree that fell and was being chopped up because of a recent storm. She did not realize that most of the logs were too heavy to pick up alone. So, as the strongest in my family, I ended up doing most of the literal heavy lifting, even picking up some logs completely on my own because I was impatient and stubborn. (We don't know how much these logs weigh, but they might be a hundred pounds each.) I have now ended up overexerting myself to the point where my chest hurts, I feel like I got a hernia, my vision is dark at the corners, I'm really tired and shaking, and a log fell on my fingers and thankfully just scrapped the skin (Through gloves) rather than breaking them or causing them to bleed.

And later in the restroom when my mom was applying bandages to the two fingers which I am typing with, she said to build some muscle.

I think a worthy author can describe almost any feeling, given enough time and provided they themselves are familiar with it.

  18. He still needs to make a proposal that allows him to change houses. Once that's done, he can do so. And yeah, players might need to go inactove for a while at times, and I don't want them to reset because of that.
  19. Combine these three paragraphs, or at least two. You only want to separate a sentence for emphasis, and putting emphasis on "She generally used recurves" sounds a bit odd. Delete the second "What mattered" sounds repetitive. Separate the sentence so it's like "What mattered at the moment was taking out her targets as quickly and efficiently as possible. Luckily for her, that’s what she’d spent the last eighteen years of her life doing." Explain the "Tearing the weapon away" part a little more, as it's unclear what that means or what is happening Suggestion... would it not make more sense to just check if she's dead rather than waste a bolt? Okay, so a time constraint may explain why she can't check, but that blot would've been quite useful now, wouldn't it? And forgetting to reload after doing that for eighteen years? That is almost unbelievable, in what appears to be routine for her. You could've just made her curse and reload while chasing them. The forgetting to reload part is very weird for how you just set her up to be experienced and skilled at this for a mistake I don't even think normal people would make when firing crossbows. I'm not sure what purpose it was supposed to serve, but it doesn't fit. TL;DR delete it. I think you would use clinging rather than clung here, clung sounds off. @Condensation Please confirm my suspicions. Remove the last comma. Otherwise, fine description of her surroundings. Also, you may want to describe how close the rooftops are for a chase to be happening. Fine. FIne. Fixed some grammatical errors in the quote itself this time. One comma missing that I put in. Otherwise, fine. I believe it's just 'drew' and not 'withdrew'. Also, when you use they, it might be more useful to make the character assume a gender, as it's more clear to the reader, as they can refer to multiple people and confuse them, and it is realistic for someone to assume when they're not sure. More a suggestion than a critique. Why not remove the spear? Even if it doesn't harm her, it would get in the way. Otherwise, fine. Wait, there was a first arrow? I thought she was only hit by a spear. Where did the error come from? is that a mistake on you, or did I miss something? Good. Great line. Makes sense she would use a crossbow for killing when she only has a staff, though I will ask why she doesn't have a knife for cases like that. For a first draft, it looks fine. Just needs fine-tuning, and I recommend being more careful when trying to describe where characters are, as that appears to be a slight weak point of yours, especially during fights. Your good at describing surroundings, though a little more couldn't hurt.
  20. You misspelled, "Any Cosmere book."
  21. Chapter 15 is out, sorry for being so late, and also, I HAVE UPLOADED FIVE HUNDRED PAGES EXACTLY! WHOOO!
