  1. She has a city to clean up, and it's her way of coping, especially after the last time she grieved she ignored a lot of important stuff and doesn't want that to happen again. She would've helped Shallan earlier if she didn't remind her of Jasnah. her husband became an abusive monster and she always loved Dalinar. And how is it disrespectful to want to move on? Should she spend the rest of her life alone because the person you want to and always wanted to be with because of your dead husband? What else are you expecting? She doesn't exactly have a target for vengeance right now, does she? (And violent death is not something new to her, mate, she's storming Alethi, they all expect to die violently.) She has more pressing issues, grieving is not something she has time for and she clearly doesn't want to think about when the shard reminds her of it and she proceeds to shove it down.
  2. When you post something, don;t post again, just edit your previous post until someone else responds. I agree, I don't think this should be in contention. She's an irresponsible scientist, but still a scientist. Navani has not shown to be worthy of a bond NOW. Whether she can improve to that is irrelevant to this discussion. She does not unify people, though she is an impressive leader. She does not show any concern for unlocking a power that will dramatically change the entire war and cause immortals to die, and now has the power that helped destroy Asyhn. The Sibling does not trust Navani for trapping spren, and Navani convinces her by saying, 'screw that I am'. How does that change the Sibling's mind? What does navani show that makes her worthy of this order? Saying Navani is worthy and then listing down her accomplishments is not changing that she does not fit this order. This would be like Szeth listing out how he listens to a rock for most of his life to try and get an Honorspren. @Bejardin1250 No, she is not. When she hears Jasnah dies, she is depressed for most of WoR. When Elhakor dies, she is upset bit doesn't have time to grieve for him. We see she is still in pain from that when she sees his shardblade. This may come up in the future still, but we have seen that she does grieve for him, just not openly.
  3. One, the stormfather seems very fine with tyrants, and that is irrelevant. Dalinar had an interest in uniting people. Navani does not. The people they were before they started the oaths does not matter to spren, that's part of what the oaths are for. The context of the two are pretty different. One is the slight immoral implications, where the Sibling had other preferences to Navani but ended up being forced to choose her while the Stormfather could choose anyone he wanted and chose Dalinar. Second is the Stormfather was begrudging, not hesitant. He didn't want to bond anyone but would out of respect for Honor, and so chose him. the Sibling also didn't want to bond anyone, but esspically didn't want to bond Navani, seeing as when they were dying, she called for Rlain, not Navani.
  4. Hmm, the birthday is strong with this one.

  5. So, I have seen people to the Sibling using they, he, and she when referring to them (I personally keep using she) and I was wondering what everyone imagines her as. I actually thought the Sibling was male when first referred to in Oathbringer but then shifted more to female in RoW. I don't know why.
  6. The Stormfather has... an odd view on unity. It was said I think by BS that he would see genociding a nation for breaking an oath as 'ok'. Uniting a nation through war is definitely something the Stormfather would be fine it. Hell, his first pick was Gavilar. And we don't know if he got the visions before that ambition. he was already reading the Ways of Kings and trying to follow the codes when he arrived at the shattered plains, now memory wiped. He could've been wanting unity already (Which is something he would want as he wouldn't want his brother's kingdom to fall after his death) and then the Stormfather decided to start showing him visions, which would only motivate him further. I see your point, but many of those Spren saw potential in those they chose, Timbre saw that Venli could move past her selfish ways, but the Sibling did NOT think that about Navani. It took dying to make her bond Navani, and even then she was hesitant.
  7. you know, you can't just say we don't make arguments when many of us have been making points or countering points and then say sorry if you were disrespectful? That's like saying you're an idiot and than apologizing if you insulted anyone. There is no if, and the apology is pretty meaningless. Also, yes your time here matters, you've had twelve posts here and you've already assumed someone's character, and seeing as you just dumbed down several people's character's to "NOPE I DONT AGREE", you don't seem like a very reliable source for that. Edit: *facepalm* Okay. I'm an idiot. I read that very wrong. You meant besides me and a few others, those are the arguments you have heard. I read it as 'besides,' an in you were referring to us, not excluding us. Yes, I can understand that frustration. Very sorry for the misunderstanding. I do hold that you haven't been here long enough to assume his character, but the rest was uncalled for and wrong.
  8. I remember very clearly he tells Dalinar that he had to 'choose a bondsmith." It is a line that stuck in my head (mostly because the way I imagine his voice when saying that line is really smooth and nice. I really like the Stormfather, every line he says is perfect.) Tone down the snark. he has provided a counter, and you haven't exactly been here long. And your point has nothing to do with unifying. I get Navani has done incredible things, but very few of them have anything to do with unifying people. Kaladin had to get a crew that hated itself to work together and think of themselves like family, which is a good example of unifying. Designing a flying ship shows her skills as a scholar and fabrailtion (I'm so sorry for butchering that word), not as a unifier.
  9. So, the Stormfather was told by Honor to choose a bondsmith, which he will listen both out of respect and possibly out of some oath?, and so he first chose Gavilar, but when he died, he moved on to Dalinar. During the battle, he tried to kill everyone including Dalinar, but when he survived and said the oaths, he was bound to accept what he chose, which is why he did it begrudgingly. If the Stormfather could, he wouldn't have picked any bondsmith, he still held a grudge against humanity, but when told to choose from all of humanity, he chose Dalinar.
  10. um, Navani. After Dalinar convinces all the leaders to at least try making a coalition, she does end up being the one to make sure they don't shatter. I still think that more shows her skills as a leader and how she is capable of organizing, but she does play a large part. One, tone down the snark. By several levels. two, some of those high princes joined him because they actually believed in him. Three, Dalinar has been trying to bring together the high princes for the past two books. his success or failure is irrelevant. Navani does not show any interest in unifying people Four, No, the Stormfather would've bonded Dalinar no matter what, he had to choose a bondsmith, which is different than what the sibling had to do. The stormfather had to choose a bondsmith from anyone in the world and he chose dalinar, the sibling had other preferences, but had only Navani and still almost said no even at her own death. Five, yes, Navani is an important factor in Dalinar's unification, but if Dalinar decided he wanted to conquer the world to unite them, I think Navani would've still followed him. She doesn't have any real interest in unification, she's just helping Dalinar achieve whatever goal his mind is set on, which happens to be unifcation. A lot. She is the one who tells Dalinar how to interact with Queen Fen, it's her letter that convinces the Azish to join the coalition, she is the one who helps the coalition get set up when Dalinar gets incapacitated.
  11. Keep count mate. 991
  12. Those are examples of her being a leader, yes, we're not denying that she is an incredible leader, but that's not what we're arguing. We're saying that she doesn't do anything that shows her being a unifier, and being a leader, while a part of being a unifier, is not enough and does not make her stand out amongst people like Queen Fen, who is also an excellent leader. We're not saying she's completely unworthy, she is just no more worthy than plenty of other people we've seen with our understanding of what a Bondsmith is supposed to be. Is she the worst candidate? No. But not being the worst does not mean she's a good choice.
  13. Seeing as his point didn't have anything to do with gender, don't bring it up. Gavilar is the one to discover anti-light first, how, we don't know, but he is the first (Unless the shards know about their anti-tones, which I believe is hinted with Odium trying to convince Raboniel to find it, but either way, he is the first Rosharon, which is still impressive.) Navani does get credit for learning the method to creating it and then spreading that knowledge, which is impressive and I feel would give her some right to call herself a scholar, she is clearly adept at experimenting and connecting data, I don't see why she wouldn't be considered one just because she focuses more on guiding scholars then participating with them. This is the only way it would acceptable after the sibling was basically given the choice bond her or die. Leading and unifying are not the same thing, while they may share similarities. Dalinar has been trying to unify forces that would not normally cooperate and needs constant effort to keep together and not shatter. Navani, while a great leader, does not unify anyone that wouldn't have worked together. She guides the scholars, but they would be working together regardless, though perhaps less productively with someone else in charge. She orders the generals, but they would been working to launch a counterattack regardless, she simply gives them direction, not something small, but not really unifying. the thing that needs to be clarified is that she isn't unworthy in general, but she isn't worthy of being a bondsmith, at least no more than any of the other leaders on the Council. To make clear what I'm saying, Szeth is incredibly worthy of a Highspren, he fits the order perfectly, but he is not worthy of, let's say, an Honorspren. Navani does not fit that order. She fits other orders, Elsecallers being the first to come to mind, but not Bondsmith. Edit: I hate myself. So there is one moment where she does do what I say she doesn't and that's with the two members of the guild who at first refuse to share knowledge of how to transfer stormlight until she manages to convince one of them. The moment is small, but still there and should be taken into account. Not sure if that's enough, but it's definitely a point in her favor.
  14. Got the second Vaccine, and I currently feel like Vin trying to use the mists with the earring on. Everything feels so... sluggish and difficult.

  15. For direction for where you can check this, go to where Wax and his uncle are in that pit trap, hs uncle mention how he cannot have more than three blessings, referring to the spikes, or he opens himself up to Sazed's interference.
  16. If the argument is about how many spikes it takes to control a human or kandra, the rules for hemalurgy have not changed and it is stated that it takes 4 to control a human and two for a kandra.
  17. Miles blew himself up and healed, and Rashek had said he survived being decapitated, burned, and flayed. That's a lot more than Stormlight, which can't healed a Radiant if something crushes their head.
  18. No on both accounts. Radiant healing is inferior to gold healing and all the Fullborn needs to do is crush their skull in a second.
  19. Not really, because we haven't seen enough of it. (Only two radiants currently have it, and one was very recent.)
  20. Metal armor is not going to help, the force with kill them the second they moved. Yes, so identity defines it's borders, meaning it is a part of the spiritweb, not the other way around. The identity is one one of the many things that make up the web. the abilities deal more with investiture than identity, mate. Well, remember this was just after he ascended, so the intents of the shards hadn't completely affected him yet to cause this. That's how Vin was able to attack Ruin. And Harmony did not awaken potential, he basically did what lerasium did to give Hoid, who is not a Scadrian, powers of Mistborn. That is not what that WoB said. It said Idenity defines it borders, which would say Spirit web is affected by Identity, not part of it. And again, tone down the snark. For the Aluminium production argument, Soulcasters will probably help Rosharans keep up, but Scadrians will have automated the production which will, in the end, produce far more than they can with their soulcasters (And the fact the Soulcasters will start turning into what they soulcast means there is a limit to how much you can use them, while machinery doesn't have that same weakness.)
  21. Nice to see your still making stuff.
  22. Well, this is new. So I was just on a podcast where I got to read my prologue and chapter one with some guys. Check it out, and there are some other cool stuff read their two from a guy who is GREAT with accents and voices.

... right, sorry, I forgot people don't tend to listen to long things. Um, the first few minutes are funny, for the guy with the great voice, just keep watching, for my stuff, skip to 33:22.

  23. Sixth of Dusk Sequel Spoilers Spren in fabrials aren't physical, the shardplate spren will be, this would change how they interact with shard plate A WoB confirms that you can't add powers to a person, so you cannot use forgery to cheat this system. You are going to have to accept that. Believe it was a week Eh, I get your point, but we have arguments for both sides, and at this point, we don't know enough about the mechanics of living plate, so maybe it's best we move on to other topics. Please reference these cases for our beneift. And this is also a good point, A lot of your speculations have some level of leaps of logic. While I will still hold to my previous point that we should move to other topics as even dead blades and plate work very differently to each other, we don't really know how living plate is going to work yet, and the fact only Jasnah, an elsecaller, dismisses it to shadesmar, we're not sure how much is unique to certain radiant orders. However, try and list down the evidence to your points rather than simply saying these are connected. I know it can be annoying, but considering your position, it is best to put in that little extra effort, and you may end up changing your mind as new evidence is revealed and you alter your conclusions.
