  1. Ara touched the tree and tried to push Notion into it through Memory. Memory spoke. “It is not working. This branch... there is something strange about, but it does not sing to me as metal does. It is... disharmonious. It sings to a different tune.” ”I can’t, Ara said. It won’t stick.” Just to experiment, she tried anyway. A curl of blue smoke escaped her palm, but simply evaporated without attracting to the branch. She sighed. “It seems they are different after all, at least in some way.” ”So, how do you Harvest? I just need to touch someone. Is it the same for you?”
  2. Ara’s mouth was agape through the entire explanation. Immediately, she pulled out her notes she kept in her pack and started comparing them to Gal’s. “This... Ire. Notion is just one form of it... amazing. And you have some capability to harvest idea Ire as well? Could you try putting some into this? She pulls out a zinc plate with just a few etchings in it. I want to see if you use the same form of energy as Manifestors do.”
  3. “I need no sleep. My mind is made up of more than simple brain matter.”
  4. Kaesiel sighed. This would be so much simpler if she could take this child’s memory like she could have back home. Unfortunately, she couldn’t. And now this kid had seen their secret base. Things were about to get messy.
  5. Fen watched the Skywing fly off. “So... you think he’ll help us break these prisoners out?” She asked Auburn.
  6. “Notion can stick to it without Insignials, but it won’t do anything, and it’ll leak faster. It has also been tested with a lot of other materials, nothing nonmetallic works. Some scholars think it has to do with metal’s simplicity. When you try and use an Insignial to manifest something simple, like oxygen, it’s really easy. But once you get into organic compounds and such things get complicated. So, a theory is that metals work well because they’re simple. Alloys are less sticky, in that theory, as they are less pure. Of course, that has holes too. Elements which are traditionally nonmetallic don’t effect Notion, even if they’re pure. Wait. What’s the ideas realm?”
  7. Ara perked up a bit. “Sure, we can talk! I guess, with metals, I’ve never really considered it. It’s just the way things work. Notion sticks to metal. Like magnets.”
  8. If Kel had the Bands of Mourning, is it possible TLR had some knowledge about Hemalurgy stored in his copperminds? That would give Kelsier a big advantage in figuring out what he does so quickly.
  9. Dawn follows, nodding to Theen as she goes.
  10. Dawn sticks out her hand. “Honored.”
  11. I will be there until break! Edit: ooh! Is this new intro music? Spoilers:
  12. Kaesiel looks around, scowling. “Well, at least we have a place to stay, now.” She sets down her bags on a nearby table. “Now, I need to go shopping.” She brandishes the hundred dollar bill. “And I’m guessing wherever those flying machines that made that noise are is where the most advanced equipment is. Who’s up for a little outing?”
  13. Ara takes Cara’s hand and follows her. Whispering under her breath to her and Avren “Thank you.”
  14. “Sure, sure. Just wait until Dirt hears. He’s gonna freak.”
  15. Fen feigns incredulity. “What?! Auburn, wanting to do the fun option? Oh, moons, I may just die of shock!”
  16. “Yup! Everyone here is so interesting. It’s great! Except for the fact they’re chained up, that is.”
  17. “Thank you. I... I guess it’s out now. I’m not as cheery or optimistic as I used to be.” So why do you still keep me around?
  18. Seeing Auburn flying across the arena, Fen flew to catch up with her. “Hey! How are you doing? I was just talking to some of the prisoners. They seem nice.”
  19. Ara returns the hug instinctively. “I just... I don’t want you to worry about me. I cab’t do that to you. Really. I’ll be okay.” Ara couldn’t talk about how she really felt. Cara was seemed so happy, and Ara couldn’t take that away from her. Who would she be if she would do something like that? Memory seemed to sense something was wrong. “Ara. Why do you feel this way? I can’t understand.”
  20. “It is a good thing I ran into you then, sir. Point the way.”
  21. “Good, then we are both heading to the same place. You can show me where she is. To be honest, I just got here and I do not really know my way around.” This certainly was an odd man. Dawn liked him, though.
  22. “Which Zarokovian representative would this be?” Dawn asked. “I am not aware of which representatives other than Lorena are here. I was curious.”
  23. “Dawn. My last name was rendered irrelevant when I was Declared. I am sorry I didn’t introduce myself earlier. It seemed as if you already knew who I was. I apologize for my arrogance.”
