So far so good! I like the “commercials” in the middle, they’re funny. Did anyone else notice the Hydra symbol on the watch in the second one?
-
From the back of the cover summary we have, it seems like it’s going to be about the Pantalan dragons arriving in the ice kingdom and Snowfall trying to deal with that.

Yep! Book 14, March 2nd. The main character is going to be Snowfall, the icewing queen. And, yeah, dragonslayer is good. It basically shows the first five books from the perspective of the humans.

This is a thread to talk all things Wings of Fire, Tui T. Sutherland’s YA book series about dragons! Spoilers ahead! Who are your favorite characters? What are you hoping for/predicting in the next book? So far, my favorite character is Sunny, with Fatespeaker and Cricket as close seconds. Unfortunately, Sunny doesn’t get much development outside of book 5, which disappoints me, and is also why book 5 is my favorite book of the series. Also, what did you think about Dragonslayer? I quite liked it, but I think there were a few people I’ve seen who would have preferred getting book 14 first.

Ara ran up the hill, following Xeus. Both the people she wanted to talk to were up there and... wait, why was there a giant tower smack in the middle of nowhere?

How battered are your books?
JesterLavorre replied to midnight13's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Well, it’s not a novel, but my copy of the D&D 5e Monster Manual is now just a collection of loose pages. -
Oh, yeah! Imagine Vashe/Vivenna helping Taln after all the guilt Ash feels over him. I could definitely see that helping her state.

So, here’s a random thought I had. Warbreaker spoilers ahead!

Shardcast: Late 2020 & Rhythm of War Words of Brandon 1
JesterLavorre commented on Chaos's article in Shardcast
Yeah. I definitely think that’s possible. I’m just not sure why the seon can leave the box, though. Both explanations work. Also, there’s probably a non-box way to take Seons off world, just for writerly reasons it would make sense for Brandon to have a way to have radiant spren able to move around freely. Again, the box explanation could still work with that, I just think there is another solution that will be found in the future. -
“I sure hope not.” Kaesiel starts walking away. “Would any of you know the form of currency in this world?”

Well, if I calculate it out, I think I may have overestimated, but now I’m curious to see by how much . Also, worth mentioning that recently our group has implemented a policy of every character getting a free feat at level 1. I don’t remember if that was in this game, but just to keep in mind. For just a base fireball, you have 8d6 fire damage. The sorcerer also had the Elemental Adept feat that allowed him to count 1 on fire damage dice as 2. Twinned spell, after looking it up, doesn’t work with fireball. That means that the sorcerer either misused twinned spell or used Empowered Spell instead. I’ll go with the second. Meaning the sorcerer had two empowered fireballs. The average roll of a d6 is 3.5, which I’m going to round to 4 because of the Elemental Adept feat. That leaves us with 32 damage per fireball, for 64 total. So, with empowered spell and some good luck, I could definitely see that getting up to 100 or so. Not 150, though. As for me, the rogue. I had assassinate, which gave me advantage (and thus, sneak attack) and an autocrit on the troll. I also had the sharpshooter feat, giving me a +10 to damage. A light crossbow deals 1d8 damage, plus 3d6 sneak attack dice. All that, plus the times two on the dice from a crit, plus my desk bonus, which I think was 4, gets us to 44. Half of what I thought. So, actual likely damage: 44 from the sneak attack, 70-100 to each of two different targets from the fireballs (so, actually close to 200 total). So, yeah. That was a wildly incorrect estimate on my part. Thanks for catching that.

Kaesiel follows, but remembering what the illusionist had said earlier, turns to speak to the hero for a moment before leaving. “We haven’t done anything yet, hero. You have no grounds to assault us. I may not know the laws of these lands, but be assured that if you interfere, I will use those laws to ensure you never do so again.”

“Insignials, and, yeah. That’s the primary way I’m able to use Notion I harvest. Maybe we should talk with Gal.” Ara nods toward him. “You two seem to know a lot about magic. Maybe you can help me figure exactly what it is I do.”

“Well, sort of. I’m a Vessel. And not very experienced. How do you know about Manifesting?”

Trutharchivist's crew
JesterLavorre replied to Trutharchivist's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
I’ve done some research, and it seems as though there are two differing ways to mix these colors and receive outputs. Additive mixing seems to involve lights. In this case, different colored lights mix to form the color between them. White light, which may possess properties of its own, is created by mixing all three colors of one category, like red, blue, and green. Subtractive mixing involves the mixing of a physical pigment, like paint, or overlaying transparent color filters. In this case, a pigment or filter that absorbs, say, green light, will cause purple light to be reflected. This means a material that absorbs a certain color of light will appear to be a different color entirely. This makes me wonder whether magic users of each color could mix and combine their magics in these ways to create new effects. -
Ara stepped forward at his look. “Uh, hi! I’m Ara, and this is Memory.” She gestured for Memory to come foreward from where they stood against a tree, nearly invisible in the morning sun. Memory slinked out of the light and into the shadows where they were more visible, then snapped into two dimensions, fusing with Ara’s normal shadow.

The radiant could also be a sleepless. “Something Frightful” sounds like a pile of bugs to me. I still think a singer is more likely, but just a possibility to consider. ROW Spoilers:

Fantasy Authors' Guild
JesterLavorre replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Not ideally. Of course, last Friday I had to do 1000 in one day because I was too busy the other days of the week. So, sometimes it will happen. Hopefully, for those times, I’ll be in the mood to write and not have to force myself to do it. -

No, 1900 in a week. 250 per day. -

I mean... it only works out to about a paragraph a day. Which is more than I would normally do, but still, only about half an hour a day. -

I’ve made a new year’s resolution to write 1900 words a week. So far so good! -
“An illusionist, but an illusionist with little subtlety. Are you sure we should be drawing so much attention to ourselves? We have no idea what the military of this planet is, yet.”
