You’re welcome, but yeah it’s the opposite reason of why I think kaladin needs to die or something else needs to put him out of action, he makes everyone like lift when he is around.
-
I can agree with that, she is almost like a spren, like syl and pattern she doesn’t really work on her own but she is incredibly interesting and awesome when she can play off other characters.
-
Yeah but the magic system was a very cool concept that I think could be if executed better made amazing particularly the psychic parts and the way intention and mental image/understanding played a role in it. I also really liked the eldunari and think that it had some of the most interesting dragons I’ve read. I also think it did power scaling in a way that was interesting if it had been from a better author it could have been a very interesting look at some of the insane power level differences in fantasy, it could have had a dark lord that wasn’t beaten by some random gimmick or the chosen protagonist because he was chosen like vin and such but because of some random mistake he made in cursing a young girl that became a incredibly powerful entity because of it.(though she was also a bit derivative of st Alia from dune) so it had some good stuff but it was overall pretty bad, but a talented writer could take some of the stuff in it and make it very good.

You mean Star Wars, it’s literally Star Wars with dragons but sapphira was great
-
*syl is perfect there fixed it for you Idk why but I seriously am kinda obsessed with like weird alien/inhuman sidekicks, it’s just so inter to watch them try to understand human nature and comment on it and the character. Another good one is sapphira from inheritance cycle not the greatest series but she was amazing.

Interesting it is, it’s also interesting to learn why colder countries are generally wealthier, I’d recommend economics explained who has an interesting video on the topic.
-
It’s just an example and I’d say is a pretty good since the guy time responded to was saying he’d rather kaladin stand by his goal of fixing Vorin social structure instead of beating odium if he had to, and that’s pretty similar to my example basically saying it’s better to fix an important but lesser problem before the existential one because morality is not a fixed point that doesn’t really make any sort of sense to me id also argue any philosophical or moral framework that makes that claim has this very example as solid grounds to dispute it but that’s not what this is about
-
While I agree those problems are intertwined and we can try and find a solution to both we really should be putting most off the effort toward the existential threat, but yeah no politics that’s just an example. i don’t have a problem with gaz honestly just a guy who had a job that in his society was perfectly ok, he is just a normal person he isn’t evil he isn’t a great guy he is a bit of a coward that’s the worst I can really say. Kaladin bullies him but gaz also tried to get him killed and his crew so I understand why bridge 4 hates him.
-
So I never ever liked moash because he refuses to accept any responsibility for his actions and betrays kaladin but I never hated him not like I’ve hated similar characters in the past namely wars from agents of shield who is very similar in that we get one whole season of him not just being a good guy but the coolest good guy before he betrays them and begins systematically trying to kill them all. but for moash I do hate him now quite a lot because of the rhythm of war chapters Thanks thats not sweeping it under the rug it’s a bigger issue that needs to be solved first just like i think climate change needs to be mitigated before we start dealing with social inequality because one is existential and we can’t fix the other if we aren’t around to fix it
-
Sorry but I don’t know how to combine them and those are from posts like 2 pages apart
-
Sorry but I don’t think it’s in any way fair to compare literally being tortured for thousands of years to what happened to moash
-
I really do not understand why that’s a problem odium winning is far far worse even for a little bit then the eye color dynamic staying the same he will kill millions shatter their world. Or business as usual crappy business as usual but you and everyone you love have not been crushed into the floor by a thunderclast

Kaladins and leshwi’s relationship moving forward
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Eshonai was fighting a losing battle and trying to make peace, it could have worked they could have been left alone And survived. Venli didn’t free her people from slavery she just changed the slave master. Venli was a dangerous and frankly stupid ideologue she destroyed everything her people worked for, the listeners are quite frankly the most noble people on the entire series they are the good guys if anyone is, they were willing to lay down their lives to prevent odiums return. Venli got all of her people killed summoning the everstorm, returned a god of literal hatred And on top of that rendered the death of every single one of her people who died in their defense completely useless. Eshonai knew what she was doing she was sacrificing them so that the world could go on, Venli listened to a random spren to return a god her people knew was evil this is not just dangerous, it’s short sighted and stupid. Venli killed her people as surely as Eshonai did And on top of that started the destruction of the world.- 35 replies

If lift can generate investiture from calories why wouldn’t a windrunner be able to preform some sort of similar thing, addiotnslly stormlight fusion is just my approximation if you would rather it could be described as pulling storm light directly form the spiritual realm and that would require the same criteria just enough to pull more out of the spiritual realm plus if it was just about sucking in more storm light why woudl it just be windrunners, as far as we know it’s because of their relationship to bond smiths and therefore adhesion whcih also can seemingly pull investiture form the physical realm

It’s a weird approximation basically in order for fusion to happen right you need to put in energy first to get to where fusion can happen. So stormlight fusion is basically where you woudl use a bunch of storm light to start a “fusion process” generating more stormlight if that makes sense I’m not entirely sure that he is not generating it he seems to help stormlight more then he absorbed specific during the weeping. additionally we actually know nothing about How adhesion really works a scholar claims that adhesion is the surge of vacuum and pressure and we have 1 example of this actually working that way. We have only seen adhesion be used by a windrunner to do something that doesn’t involve sticking things together once with adhesion. So while these abilities are assumed to be possible we don’t know. if stormlight follows a law similar to thermo dynamics storm light fusion seems highly possible. In fact it could even be possible for windrunners to create black holes or small suns

Kaladins and leshwi’s relationship moving forward
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
I suspect that this is what will happen with leshwi and kaladins fight or kaladins return to the battlefield being the climax of the book or the mid book high point since almsot every Sanderson book I have read has a mid book high point like the mission to Kholinar. i also suspect their interactions may somehow result in either leshwi dying to kaladin for good or being converted to the good guys. It’s also possible that moash could kill her permanently. I agree with your thought that they will have parellel related arcs and I think that there may be a scene where they talk one to one but in a situation where neither can get at the other like in a lot of games intro scenes you have the main villain or secondary villain talk at you with a glass wall or cage or something separating them, I suspect a scene like that is how I think a conversation would be facilitated especially because now we have the stormlight draining Fabriels imagine if like leshwi and kaladin are each on one side of a window with one of those fabriels in leshwi’s hand something like that.- 35 replies

Ok so we know that windrunners are very close to Bondsmiths as an order and this is what causes their power up moments when they swear ideals and seem to not create obviously but become their own source of investiture for a brief time. Additionally dalinar seemingly with adhesion can fully power up knights with investiture. however we have a the stormfather having said that Bondsmiths adhesion is different from windrunner adhesion. however windrunner adhesion is so far very underpowered compared to some surges we have seen. On top of this from the information given windrunners Role within the knights radiant seems to have been as commandos, scouts, strike forces and quick response teams as opposed to stone wards which seem to have been the line infantry of the radiants. with adhesion being underpowered, their role among the radiants Requiring them to be self sufficient and dalinars uses of adhesion I think it’s possibly why may have access to these abilities. 1. storm light creation- this fits very well with bondsmith adhesion and with their role in the radiants, especially since we don’t hear Skybreakers filling the same role. However it’s also super op a. Storm light generation- basically in a similar way to lift just making it through calories, this is doubtful since lift is unique seemingly. b. Spontaneous generation- basically what windrunners already do when swearing oaths just becoming full of stormlight but on command this would probably be a 5th ideal thing and if it’s very very powerful may affect their squires as well. c. Stormlight fusion- this I think is a much more reasonable and balanced version of ability b and I think more in line with the 2 surges basically a windrunner would take in a bunch of stormlight and use it to basically start stormlight fuaion generating it for themselves for a while this could take any amount to start but I imagine it would take a lot. So like for example dalinar infuses a windrunner then they use all of it to start fusion. (stormlight fusion may actually be what happens when they say their oaths since kaladin in wor sucks in all the storm light on the hallway before bursting with what I assume is more light than he took in since it was during the weeping.) 2. perfect stormlight capturing- basically using adhesion to just hold stormlight perfectly without releasing any, but this may also just be what happens to all fifth ideal radiants though it does like up with adhesion. 3. A possible later ability linked to leadership and their resonance may be instant cool squires we know dalinar can use adhesion to gain information adhesion plus gravitation shoudl be able to impart it. It’s also possible later ideal radiants who would have to embody leadership may have way more squires. Essentially imagine if a 5th ideal windrunner walks into a group of 30 or even 100 soldiers and is like ok you guys are coming with me and turns them all to squires on command and grants them the knowledge to use those powers. This seems a little op especially if you can also increase the number of total squires, and I have seen it suggested they may be able to communicate over distances with their squires. overall I think the most likely at least as windrunner specific are 3 and 1c

Kaladins and leshwi’s relationship moving forward
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
1. I think I made it clear that I don’t want this to turn into a shipping thread 2. I think it’s very likely after the chapter we see her with venli that it’s not the case. Shipping yeah i don’t support it generally but she appears legitimately fascinated- 35 replies

Kaladins and leshwi’s relationship moving forward
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
That makes sense but I think personally it has more to do with the fact that kaladin managed to reforge a radiant order with no guidance, it’s even mentioned in the chapter we get with her and venli. This especially makes sense considering it’s likely that she has never seen someone leading or refounding a radiant order that wasn’t a herald, leshwi has probably known and fought a fair percentage of every windrunner to ever exist and likely has never met an individual like kaladin since u you’ll then it’s been the heralds o think personally that’s why.- 35 replies

I think adolin is due a cool title or nickname
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
That’s true but nobody did it before that like after the duel with 4 shardbearers that a lone you think would earn him moniker at least among the commoners much less among the elite -
Kaladins and leshwi’s relationship moving forward
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
That makes sense but why, do we have any idea as to why?, because the only other person we have who she has taken a similar interest in is moash/vyre who is obviously kaladins foil, is she almost like the middle point halfway between both, that’s worrying because it means kaladin doesn’t have to go far to fall.- 35 replies

I think adolin is due a cool title or nickname
Valigus replied to Valigus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah but with his feats he is pretty deserving of one I’m frankly just shocked that nobody has ascribed him one. While yes he is the “ordinary one” he really is beyond ordinary dalinar got his title while just as ordinary and adolin has down things at least almost as crazy as dalinar -
Ok so as the tag says I’m not talking about shipping them though that’s probably what this will become. I’m just wandering how their relationship will progress, it’s very clear that they have developed a mutually respectful relationship despite being enemies. I feel like Sanderson did a very good job of making it seem like they had some kind of strong relationship and spent a few chapters on it. Plus we know that leshwi is fascinated by kaladin for some reason presumably because he managed to reforge an entire order of the knights radiant with no guidance and is the first time leshwi has seen a leader of a radiant order that isn’t a herald. but now kaladin is off combat duty so they presumably won’t interact much or at all, but we had multiple chapters building up their relationship so why and what will come of it later down the road.

Sorry but kaladin is the dead one, he is literally a messiah figure, he is arguably the single most capable and dangerous radiant, and even his name sounds legendary no way he survives it’s like kelsier they spend so long building him up he has to die
-
I’m rereading words of radiance and I’m noticed that after sadeas says adolin is growing to be as big a threat as the blackthorn has been in his prime and adolin wins the duel that he doesn’t have a title. Adolin is hands down top 4 fighters in the series rn and all the other main people of comparable skill have awesome titles. szeth is the assassin in white truth less of shinovar which is a great title dalinar is the blackthorn which is also great Kaladin stormblessed is the greatest last name in all of fantasy and just such an awesome title adolin is just adolin Kholin which while an awesome sounding name isn’t the same , he really needs an awesome title or moniker.
