...I was writing some worldbuilding notes but it turned out like an advertisement for a military spacecraft...
SpoilerOne of WHIM’s latest technological developments is the Wyvern-class Starfighter, named after a highly adaptive apex predator on the planet Wahatan. It relies heavily on Starshaping technologies, being propelled solely by gravity drives and utilizing high tech force dampeners and redirectors to effectively null g-forces.
Highly modular and customizable, the Wyvern consists of a spherical cockpit that forms the core of the craft. The cockpit is specially designed using special Starshaping technology to give the pilot a 360 view around them, gathering electromagnetic and gravitational data and displaying it on the screen that covers the entire interior surface of the cockpit. Other holographic displays provide other information. The cockpit also has a hovering control seat capable of rotating 360 degrees along three axes within the cockpit, giving the pilot free view and access around the spacecraft. The cockpit is equipped with advanced life support systems that can keep pilots alive for long periods of time.
Attached to the cockpit exterior is a specialized chassis to which any number of modular components can be added - weapons, engines, surveillance instruments, et cetera. Most customizations of the Wyvern have large metal portions capable of folding into a high number of formations for vacuum combat, though oftentimes an atmospheric setting is also added to the loadout. The fact that the Wyvern can fold itself into a high number of shapes and formations, and the fact that the cockpit is spherical , eliminate the concept of a “front” and “back” to the spacecraft, making it a formidable and adaptable force in vacuum combat and maneuvering.

Anyone else just randomly be like
...but what if instead of having a normal career I make money off of being a professional mermaid/princess
I mean, I'm currently majoring in theatre, so that's not really a normal career, and tbh it'd probably still be really helpful if I decide to be a professional mermaid/princess and I could still do theatre...
I'd have to take more swimming lessons for the mermaid part. I love swimming but tbh I'm not the most impressive swimmer by any means and I'd probably have to get a lot better lol.
I just don't want to grow up ever so instead I try to find the most childish of careers that tiny me would be like OH MY GOSH THAT'S OUR JOB???? THAT'S SO COOL!!!!!!!
-
not necessarily a mermaid but sometimes i hear of really niche careers and I'm like '...but what if i was a cartographer instead?' or '...but what if i just lived in the middle of nowhere with a cat and a garden'.
being a professional mermaid sounds super cool!!

i love that midwest emo exists as a genre
like, imagine growing up in iowa or somewhere
you’re just standing in a field of corn
all like “bro i’m so bored there’s nothing to do….guess i’ll start an emo band.”
and apparently enough people had that exact thought process because it’s become it’s own genre
the midwest is so boring that it spontaneously creates angst

the midwest itself is a genre tbh
also a great modifier
midwest fantasy? you immediately have an image in your head
midwest dystopia? same thing
midwest thriller?
midwest murder mystery?
midwest enemies to lovers?
midwest high fantasy?
midwest harry potter?
midwest shadows for silence in the forests of hell?
midwest steampunk?
these are actually all great prompts for a setting

no tlm spoilers:
steris is such incredible autistic representation to me
like i don’t speak for all autistic/nd people and i don’t even have an official diagnosis rn (am working on jumping through those hoops) but the way she’s portrayed really makes me feel happy bc it’s showing this woman who does some really incredible stuff and is clearly functional within society also having trouble with thinking you think differently than everyone else and that you need to change that to fit in and struggling with understanding social cues and facial expressions
and her character is so much more than her being autistic and we’re not being told that she’s done the incredible things she’s done in spite of her being autistic because that’s not how that works. she’s done incredible and noteworthy things, and she’s autistic. idk if that makes any sense at all but seriously it means the world to me when i see representation like that

So, the past weeks I haven’t been as productive in my school classes as I’d like (online homeschool type things, I set my own pace) so a few days ago I deleted some games on my phone and rearranged my desk to remove distractions to try to set myself up for better success
Nothing has changed :|
Help xD How does one be productive

yeah sort of like wiz said, i use the pomodoro timer to get tasks done and i try not to do anything other that schoolwork in the place i do schoolwork at home. i usually just block out, like, 4 hours on a saturday to get through stuff i need to get done and nothing else. i use pomofocus.io but you can also just set timers of 20-30 minutes for tasks and 5 minutes for breaks, alternating until you get a task done and then taking a longer (10 min) break before starting on the next thing.
rant-ish thing abt adhd and forgetting my meds below lmao
Spoileralso meds if i don’t take my meds i hardly get anything done lmao
i will sit at my desk and stare at a piece of paper for an hour or so before wondering ‘hey, did i take my meds today?’
but then it’s too late in the day to take my meds cos they do the same thing coffee does where it makes it hard to sleep
and then i’m like ‘i’ll just wake up early tmrw and get in done’
but nooooooo that never works

I work in the toys section at Target
it’s pretty chill. I pick things up and I put things down. If I finish that early I organize the shelves.
One perk is that I get to hang out with the legos all day. They are objectively the greatest toy ever created, and ever since I was a child they’ve pretty much defined about 72% of my existence.
But recently I’ve been curious. I used to buy only Star Wars legos as a kid, which I guess worked well enough. I never bothered to worry about the prices because I would always just save up until I could buy the one I wanted.
Nowadays it’s not so simple.
I’m going to college soon, and money is suddenly something I’m very conscious of: both as I get my paychecks and as I spend it on scud. For the past year or two I’ve never bought any sets other than the 3-in-1 Creator ones.
Why?Because, comrade, they are simply more cost-efficient.
Observe:
Each of these are $50, but you can tell just from these photos that they aren’t created equal.
I’ve noticed that Lego Minecraft is usually less expensive than most IPs, so I decided to use that as my control group. Turns out it works great in that position, because that first set up there comes out to almost exactly 10 pieces a dollar, which is such a great ratio that it makes me smile.
Next up is Lego Creator. For this one it comes out to just over 15 pieces per dollar - another remarkably brilliant ratio that I love and adore. But what’s even crazier is the fact that it’s almost twice the ratio than the Star Wars set, which comes out to just 8 pieces per dollar.
I continued this line of research down the price range:
20 dollar Lego Minecraft. Comes out to almost 12 pieces a dollar, which is close enough at this level.
20 dollar Creator. This one is almost 13 pieces a dollar - about par with the control.
7 pieces a dollar.
While the control went up in value for the cheaper set, the Star Wars one went down.
So you get my point. But what does that mean? Just stop buying Star Wars sets forever? But what if you’re a collector? What would 8-y/o Fadran say?
Don’t worry. There still might be hope.
Behold: the hundred dollar section
Control is 8 pieces per dollar - that’s worse than Star Wars at 50
What’s this? 9 pieces per dollar? Almost on-par????
This is the paradigm that I’ve been noticing as well: expensive IP sets have better value than the cheaper ones. And I mean, just look at that thing! It’s awesome! Who cares if it’s not quite 10 per - that’s just worth.
Some more examples:
Even from a young age I think I understood this, because I would always save up for the big sets instead of blowing it on the cheapos. I got the AT-AT for 120, that 80 dollar X-Wing, and also the MASSIVE fire temple set from Ninjago.
Basically: if you want your money’s worth on these, go for the expensive sets for IPs. It’s more worth.
Right?
…
…right?
this is a 1200-piece, $100 set
and it’s incredible
TL;DR - go for Creator, kids!

i am proud of myself
look at this code
x = int(input('What number would you like to take the facorial of?\n>> ')) z = 1 output = x while x > z: output *= (x-z) z += 1 print(output)
7 lines
and it took me like an hour to write
but it's so simple
so elegantmost graceful code i've ever written (in my whole 8 weeks of programming experience)
