    Character

    Spoiler

    Name: Ĵrda Ŕbópi (ZHER-da ar-BOH-pih)

    Age: 20

    Gender: She/Her

Physical Attributes: About 5’10”, brown hair, unnaturally dark blue eyes, a round face and a bulky physique.

Personality: Unflinchingly idealist and, as a reflection of that, kind to a fault, but gets angry whenever she perceives someone as working against her perfect world.

Backstory: Born to a family of farmers, Ĵrda’s father was a prominent and respected member of the Cytocorps. She had a happy and mostly uneventful childhood, with the highlight being her eleventh birthday when her father came home from a long expedition and gave her what became her most prized possession: a faded and partially burnt photo of a beautiful city at dawn, undamaged and peaceful- a reflection of the old world, a Utopia she strives for. Less than a year after that birthday, however, her father died in service. She believes joining the Corp to be the best way of working towards that ideal and honoring her father's memory.

Gimmicks: Perhaps enjoys killing Faiemen a little too much.

Skills: Good at dodging, blocking, and generally not taking damage, but worse at actually dealing damage- at least, worse at dealing damage while waiting for her beam to recharge.

Other: Look. She knows that the Concentration Beam is meant to be more of a long-ranged weapon… but it’s not her fault she’s always up close and personal when the damned thing finally recharges! Well, I mean, it literally is, but you get the point.

Preferred ModulesConcentration Beam on her left arm, a Wristblade on her lower left arm, a broadshield above that, and some standard shielding.

    also lmao "bellows"
    Anyways, Character:

    Spoiler

    Name: Tevak Tevur

    Race: Witch

    Primary Magic: Potions

    Coven: Potions

Appearance: A rather short witch with pure black hair cut short, green eyes and light purplish skin, he almost always wears a pair of safety goggles and a white trench coat that he had enchanted to have far more room for his various ingredients, brewing equipment, and potion bottles.

Personality: A practical person a vast majority of the time (especially after graduation), Tevak has all the best qualities of a proper potionbrewer; patience, a sharp eye, and most importantly, a fine intuition for how things work and interact. Mostly he uses these talents to further his career, think of new potion combinations, and occasionally getting out of scrapes caused by ingredient acquisition,  but sometimes he sees an opportunity for trouble and simply cannot help himself but to exploit it, usually to spectacular effect.

Backstory: Coming from a well-off family in Bonesborough, Tevak attended Hexside and likely could've hit top of his class in Potions if not for his penchant for mischief and certain... unorthodox techniques regarding the art of potionmaking. Still, he graduated last year and got his sigil for the Potions Coven and now acts as a freelance potion-brewer, making all sorts of brews and mixes for anyone who pays. Doesn't really believe in Belos' preachings about wild magic but has such a passion for potions that it really doesn't bother him that he can't do other forms of magic (and trying to get out of getting a sigil would've been more trouble than it was worth, in his mind).

Quirks: If you look closely enough, certain patches of his skin roil and vibrate strangely. Don't spill an animating potion on yourself, kids.

Other Skills: Perhaps as a result of his knowledge of potions, he's an incredibly good cook as well, and also a certified spoondueler.

Tessa noticed her roommate quietly slip into the group, and stepped in beside her. "What happened?" she whispered worriedly.

"Is there an easier way to get around than with a map?"

"By the One, I wish there was. I think the scribes might be working on some sort of sign system, but don't hold me to it."

    @everyone

The groups’s conversation is interrupted as the most perceptive among them notice a figure in the distance, running for Group D at top speed, looking panicked.

The man—an elf with long, curly blonde hair—stopped in front of the group, panting. He wore a simple green T-shirt with GU in big silver letters on it and some  shorts. He had a small but scraggly beard and looked a bit messy, as if he’d just barely woken up. Once he caught his breath, he stood a bit taller and overlooked the group.

“[Frick]!” he yelled abruptly, then laughed. “That was crazy. I used up, like, over half my chi, can you believe it? Terribly inconvenient. Anyway. I’m Shaun, your group leader.” He paused, then added, “How’s everyone doing this morning?”

"Can't say I have any complaints so far."

Idir followed Kyt towards the portion of the tower where the Dustbringers trained. After a few turns, she quietly started humming the Rhythm of Anxiety, subtly increasing in volume for a few moments until she asked "What are the other Dustbringers like?"

"Ah. They're a brave sort, that's for sure, and often smart too. Problem is, often times they get a little too brave and a little too smart for their own good, haha. I suppose that's what their Ideals are for, anyways."

  7. 37 minutes ago, Knight of Iron said:

"No, you're fine!" Tessa said kindly. "Thank you. I'm sure you'll be great as well."

    I'm fine with that

"Ooo, another necromancer! I was worried about that, too. People are scared from this track, I think."

"It's understandable, really. With all the corpses and ghosts and stuff."

  8. 23 minutes ago, Trutharchivist said:

"Oh, yeah," said Ben. "Actually, I think the ritual is more scary, to me. Sure, as a necromancer, chances are I'm going to get nightmares a lot. But I dunno. I guess it doesn't seem like that much of a pain to me."

"Oh, you're going to be a necromancer too? Guess we'll be classmates then- I was beginning to worry I'd be the only one."

  9. 10 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

"Still, I'm sorry. Should've considered that... Anyway, why do you think so? What if someone enjoys just using the magic, does that make them masochists?"

"Well, Necromancers have the dreams and the ceremony, mind harvesters have the memories, and I said the Spiritbinders got off a little easy. I did kinda forget about Enchanters though, and when you put it like that, it really doesn't hold up all that well, does it?"

  10. "It's great to meet you all. One of the things I'm already liking about this place is all the wildly different people. Lots of perspectives, and stuff. Though I suppose university is always kinda like that- guess the whole learning magic thing just exacerbates it."

Katie gave Anmil a look that said something like you know this boy and you never told me?

“And I’m Katie. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Joel.”

    Kat waved with a paw.

”and this is Kat.” Katie said, gesturing to her dragon on her shoulder.

"Aw! It's nice to meet you too, Kat." He looks at Katie. "Sparkfinder, I presume? I have my own, though I left her at my dorm. She's been grumpy ever since we got here."

10 hours ago, Emery the Steelrunner said:

Jared turned to look at Joel with his black eyes. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Joel.” He said with a nod.

    @Goob

"Cool eyes." Ooh, maybe shouldn't of blurted that one out.

    10 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

Ben nodded. "Nice to meet you." He saw that Anmil looked... Somewhat uncomfortable. "I'm sorry, did we interrupt you mid-conversation?" He asked.

"Oh, me and Anmil here were just talking about how people taking magic have to be masochists, haha. Though yes, you did kind of interrupt us. Not really your fault, though, is it?

  11. 19 hours ago, Isabelle6060 said:

Katie walked up to Anmil and the other person they were talking to with Kat on her shoulder. She wasn’t sure if they were supposed to bring their pets or not, but it would be helpful for Kat to know her way around as well.

“Hi, Anmil, who’s this?” Katie asked, waiting for Anmil to introduce her to the person they were talking to.

Ben shrugged, and walked to group D. "Well, at least we're in the same group." He said.

Upon reaching, he saw Anmil and Katie talk to someone new. He walked up to them. "Hello!" He said. He then turned to the new person. "I'm Ben. What's your name?"

Anmil didn't notice Katie at first. "Yeah, I play the violin." Then they noticed Katie. "Oh! Hi there."

10 hours ago, Emery the Steelrunner said:

Jared signed his name and took his ID, and walked back over to Ben

“Do you think we’ll see anyone we met yesterday?” He asked.

Joel turns to greet all the new members of group D, but before saying anything to them he turns his head back to Anmil and says, "You're rather popular, huh?"
To the newcomers, he says "Hello! I'm Joleuf, though just call me Joel. It's nice to meet you, Ben and...?" He gestures to Jared and Katie.

"I'm taking Magical Creatures." Said Anmil, shrugging. "And I'm taking Mind Harvesting, because evidently everyone here, myself included, is a masochist."

"Hah! I think anyone who does magic has to like pain a little bit, though the Spiritbinders seem to get off a little easy." He winces. "Almost wish you hadn't mentioned it. Haven't had a bad nightmare in years, and now I'm going to have them semi-regularly? Not fun."

Anmil sighed. At least they were getting this over with now. "I'm Anmil."

I mean, true, but I mean just in the context of the wider world outside whatever plot occurs. No one would choose spiritbinding if there wasn't anyone to fight, and you don't go to university to train for laborious jobs that super strength, speed, and endurance would also help with. I suppose some sort of supernatural athlete could work too, but still seems a bit specific for a whole fifth of the classes at this university.

"Nice to meet you, Anmil. What classes are you taking? I'm gonna be a necromancer, myself."

  14. Quote

I'm kind of curious. There's lots of abilities for fighting, but... what would we use them for? I mean, it's a university, it's supposed to give you skills for use for the rest of your life. But super strength and weapon summoning doesn't seem all that helpful, unless there's wars going on I don't know about.

    @NerdyAarakocra
Joleuf Hadragard strolled over to the cluster of people that made up group D, humming an upbeat tune as he walked. "Morning," he pronounced to no one in particular, before focusing on... that elf looks nice. "Hello! My name's Joleuf, though just call me Joel. Can I ask yours?"
Joel looked like a perfectly average human, wearing jeans and a hoodie that was just slightly too early in the year to be in-season. He had curly brown hair, a mild tan, and a friendly look on his face.

It's probably a bad idea for everyone to start in different places, just for the sake of making sense  of everything and keeping the story on track. We can do it still if you want, just know it'll be harder for you the DM.

  16. A tall, gruff man walks into the Waiting Room, bearing both a massive sword and a heavily scarred face. Curiously, both the sword and much of the lower half of his body- clad in some form of leather armor- is covered in a sickly blue-green liquid.

He looks around, a puzzled expression on his wartorn face before it warps into a grimace. Composing himself, he turns to the multitude of strange looking people in the parlor with him. "What is this place?" He asks, his commanding voice booming through the room.

Dr. Doomie started flipping through the paper, skimming over it, before his eyes widened slightly and he set the paper down.

"Everything on the paper suggests you're an Anti-Brandon Therapist. Is this true?"

"Yes, indeed. Studied for six years at BMU- Boringheim Moderation University, as it says on my resume."

  18. 52 minutes ago, Doomslug The Destroyer said:

Dr. Doomie continued to wait for @Goob to give him the resume. This was taking quite some time. Perhaps Goob had lagged, as was common in this realm.

First, fixed. Second, slow down, I can't always immediately reply

"Of course," he says, handing over the paper, and a jolt of anxiety passing through him momentarily. He knew it should be good enough to fool this doctor. He had spent weeks perfecting that piece of paper. "I can imagine, especially after he announced those four knew books."
