"That isn't quite what I meant Partier, but you can be that kind of productive and I will focus on a different kind of productive."

What in heck is 'pog', I thought. Since this language was made from direct mental concepts being sent in addition to speaking my mind instinctively understood that it was a positive thing. It was definitely not a word used often in the monestary.

What is the connection between all these people? Is there any connection? I wonder. There was a monk, eldritch beings, and now this reveler?

The closest I had ever come to a party within my memories was the day once a year when we monks could break our vow of silence.

I have no idea what monks in Thailand do, and I mean no offense. They probably throw great parties

"People, can we party later? I mean, it sounds fun, but could we maybe, uh,  don't know at least make a house first or something? So we aren't just in nothing?"

"Exaclty," I told the Dreamer, "Balance and harmony are good within oneself, but in the outside world you must create, destroy and progress. We cannot have harmony yet. First we need a world to have peace and balance within. Now is the time for action."

    "We could make a paradise."

The more I think about the actual situation I'm in, the more I like about it. A permanent lucid dream? Where you could do anything you want?

"Ideas must be known." I display curiosity. "But perhaps not?"

"An existing body for an existing world is useful, yes, but not for one such as this."

Why was I debating this with a disembodied ghost-voice from another universe. How had my life gone downhill so quickly.

"But it does exist. There just isn't anything here except us. Here, try to catch this." I pull out the spoon from my pocket and underhand throw it in the general direction of the Inventor's voice.

  7. 7 minutes ago, Channelknight Fadran said:

"Looking is from the world of yours, not mine."

"Er, okay... But a body could still be useful. I don't know if your world had objects but this one does, and a body is helpful when manipulating stuff. You don't even have to place your consciousness in it, if you don't want to. You can just use it as a puppet, Inventor."

I decide to ignore the Philosopher for now. This entire experience already gave me a headache.

"Hi, I'm Devin. Well, I used to be Devin, I don't think I want to be called that anymore." 'Devin' is a giant purple monster with twenty-one tentacles, one of which has many small tentacles coming off of it, creating 'fingers.'

Oh another person! This one seemed normal from their voice, though it was coming from behind me.

I turn to greet  the newcomer and at the sight of the thing I sharply inhale. "Ah, hello. It's nice to meet you. Though I think I'll let someone else give you a new name."

I turn back, and then there's another new person. Where were they coming from?

If we are all trying to accomplish our own purposes, this world will stay in balance. This is fine, but to bring about change we need to combine our forces to tip the fundamental balance of the universe."

"Do you see the universe at the moment? It's empty. You can't balance anything if there's nothing on the scales."

"Melt is your term for... the change of energy states, yes?"

"Yeah. Also you being a disembodied voice is... a little weird? Like I would like to know where to look when I'm speaking with you."

  10. 7 minutes ago, Channelknight Fadran said:

I congratulate the Person on their ability to understand me.

"Thanks, I guess. This might be a bit much to ask of you, but could you maybe not melt next time? It was rather unnerving."

I proffer my new language to the other beings here.

I peak my head out the door. The Inventor is... speaking? But not really. It felt like language of some kind, but... not. I couldn't understand it, that's for sure.

Remember, me. I think. I can... wait. Me? That felt weird. Something's... missing.
I try and remember what I've forgotten, but it's no use. I shrug, thinking it's probably not important and continue my previous train of thought.
Even if this isn't a dream, you can still create things, like that spoon. I'll just... make a translator!
So I concentrate, and in a moment there's a small electronic device attached to my head, sort of like a headset, but somehow attached to my cheek.
I continue to listen to the Inventor and realize that I can now understand them!

Each of the seven made an object. The youngest, who knows nothing, made a light so they could explore. The next, who knows little but excepts it, made ground, so it could walk. The third, who knows little but believes they know all, plants of all kinds, but also flowers so that they could appreciate the flower's beauty. The fourth, who knows some but thinks they know more, made fire, so they could do many things. The fifth, who knows some and excepts it, shaped the ground to have many forms, from shifting sands to solid rock to life-rich dirt. The second to last, who knows most, made books so that their knowledge may be preserved. The last, who knows all, made nothing, instead molding all the creations together into a cohesive whole.

"I think the one you call the inventor, is simply trying to reach the fullest potential of what is possible in this place. That can't happen when he is constrained by a physical body. This place is a limbo of sorts. A blank slate, upon which we are artists. Creating. We do not have all power, despite what some may think *cough*Frustration*cough* but there are many things we can do. There is peace here in my meadow. But there is potential outside of it. They are not mutually exclusive though."

As my memories kept returning, I realized that I was a monk in the life before. If that life existed at all and was not some sort of fabrication to rationalize a spontaneous beginning of existance.

    Quote

Well, if we're naming each other I'm the Dreamer, Fadran's the Inventor and you're the Meditator. I actually really like this naming scheme

"Well, I initially thought this was a lucid dream where I had infinite power- after all, it was all in my mind. Maybe that isn't very far off?"
This was like a strange collaborative project, except the project was... everything? And we had to live in it?
That could be... fun. Yeah, that's what I would call it. Fun.

Oh, I see. You aren't acting as a god of a universe- you're just characters, with mildly god-like powers, at least for now. I didn't clarify this in the OP (which I probably should've) but you can't actually create any new intelligences.
I pictured this as more of a city builder, with us as the founders. If you saw before, our powers will weaken as influence of LIMBO is divided up between more and more people entering into the world.

I opened my door to the Philosopher/Dreamer and recreate a physical form.

”Hello. I think I have this place figured out. Maybe... we began existing here, and imbedded within our consciousness was memories. Perhaps real. Perhaps fake. Of a past as a mortal. You simply regained these memories quicker than I. You still think of yourself as a mortal whereas I got used to the idea of being a Limbo entity. My memories however are returning and it is disturbing.”

I resumed a non physical state. I had projected more confidence than I felt. I really knew nothing about this strange existence. Hopefully it gave some direction to the poor man though.

"W-what?" I was getting more confused at the moment. Maybe this wasn't a dream...
For now I decided to assume the worst. If I woke up suddenly, all was well. But if this wasn't a dream... well, I'd despair over that later.
"Can I stay here, for now? The Inventor melted, and I think he wanted me to melt as well."
I decided to call this one the Meditator, as he seemed rather... monklike.

Woah woah woah buddy slow down. You can't just be the one who does all that- especially the power of minds part. That's just an inherent part of LIMBO.

what I'm saying is that you can't be god. LIMBO, as a universe, is a collaborative project, yes?

    @Mage

I yelp at the sight of the Inventor's melting body. "No thanks!" I say, beginning to blink rapidly, desperately trying to wake. Nothing. I start to scramble backwards, away from the thing- If ai couldn't wake up, I would just have to run until I do!

But where would I run? There was nowhere to hide and I don't think my stamina would outlast whatever this Lovecraftian being is.

Then I remember. The meadow guy! I run over to the fold and begin to bang on the metaphysical 'door'.

"I must go now, but if you wish, I can return at a different time."

"Fine. But first you must return the stolen goods and make an oath you won't work towards your plan until we can come to an agreement. Oh and an apology to the scholars would be in order as well."

"The Stormfather kills thousands a year, The Nightwatcher causes immense suffering in dozens more, yet you would not imprison them. How many people has Nergaoul actually killed? None. This has nothing to do with the Unmade causing pain, it is because thay are of Odium."

Kyt sighs, but behind that sigh was a sea of anger. Odium was a deity of hate and destruction and had caused nothing but that since he arrived to Roshar.

"I feel like we should discuss this in a more appropriate setting. Maybe not standing at the heart of the Tower holding stolen scholarly instruments, yes? And maybe with someone more qualified than me and Idir here."

  20. Just now, Frustration said:

"So," Nak said to Destruction. "You stand by what Melishi did. You agree with him. We have nothing more to gain from this."

"Wait wait wait wait. I apologize for my sudden outburst. I am just... curious why you are so steadfast on the  freeing of the Unmade. They have just caused... a lot of pain for some people, is what I'm trying to say."

  21. 14 minutes ago, Frustration said:

"The Fused are gone, they are the Heralds equivelent. The Unmade are a neccesary part of Roshar, they will be freed, this is not negotiatable."

"A name? A label. An identification." I think. "From what your 'soul' believes, I am called God. An all-powerful being; but all-knowing. I don't know everything... or perhaps I do, as there aren't many things for me to know here." I send off the image of confusion. "Perhaps for now you could call me what you please."

Alright, enough was enough. I reach out using my dream powers to... I don't know make this guy less creepy and existential? I mean, this still was just a figment, right?
But nothing happened. I tried again, closing my eyes and concentrating. But still, nothing. I open my eyes and step back, looking back around at the land of Nothing. Was this some sort of nightmare, luring me in with promises of lucidity before descending into fear in a couple moments? Was this some sort of fever dream? The first question that appeared in my mind when I first arrived showed up in my head again.
    Was I dead?
No, no no no. I wasn't coming to that conclusion, especially when there were other explainations.
I turned back to... the person. I wasn't quite comfortable calling him God so I decided to keep calling him the name I made up for them. "Inventor! If this isn't a dream, where is it?!"

  23. 17 minutes ago, Channelknight Fadran said:

"Then why is it that I can think? Or what you call 'thinking'?" I frown, my soul displaying in my own language the idea of confusion. "Am I, perhaps, unreal?"

Okay, this was getting creepy. "I... Uh... I mean... this might not be a dream? I sure hope it is because it would destroy my worldview if it wasn't. Uh... who knows, this might be YOUR dream, ha ha." Desperate to change the subject, I ask, "So... what's your name?"
