  1. I really don’t think containing a Voidspren has anything to do with the ability to draw in Voidlight.
  2. It was revealed in this chapter that Leshwi was interested in Kaladin because she wanted to learn more about the man who had rebuilt the Windrunners from the ground up without much support. There is nothing more to it.
  3. They can still breath it in. Just because they don’t have access doesn’t mean they can’t.
  4. I think they were bonded to non-thinking Voidspren.
  5. It should be possible. He is bonded with a Spren full of both Honor/Cultivation’s power and Odium’s.
  6. Human bonded to a Truespren: Stormlight. Human bonded to a corrupted Truespren: Voidlight and Stormlight. Singer bonded to a Truespren: Voidlight and Stormlight. Signer bonded to a cognizant Voidspren: Voidlight. All we have left see is a Singer bonded to a corrupted Truespren and human bonded to a Voidspren, which should both allow intake of Stormlight and Voidlight.
  7. I think whatever just happened was the plans for the ”dangerous operation” which the Fused received via meditation. Also, there are Fused that can take the shapes of others? Are those the progression Fused or the Lightweaving Fused?
  8. I thought that was a Spren that had broken a bond with him. Still, I was very confused about Zahel. Then I decided to browse the coppermind late at night, discovered this, and couldn’t sleep for hours.
  9. I still maintain that Leshwi and the other Heavenly Ones are planning some kind of trick or trap with this “honorable duel” thing. Something is off here, and Leshwi is in the center of it.
  10. Best overall, Emperors soul. No contest. But the best novel would be Words of Radience for me (I absolutely love Kaladin as a bodyguard to Dalinar) but Oathbringer outclassed it.
  11. I believe the proper phrasing is “Taln’s palms.”
  12. Does anyone outside the Kholin family even know that Jasnah has secret notebooks?
  13. As I have stated in another thread, all we have are (as of right now) ten chapters. And as mentioned in this thread, we are getting these chapters one a week. Kaladin’s arc could very well change a lot, and in a relatively short time. In the Way of Kings annotations, found here: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/255/#e7110, Brandon has stated how inactive characters are considered by many to be boring. You can’t have a character, especially a main viewpoint character, doing very little of interest. What I believe we will see as in the book is that Kaladin gets a mission. He will complete the mission, but will still have his depression during it. It just won’t always show. He might negotiate with Honorspren or fight with Fused, but the depression will still be there. That is what we saw in the first few chapters here. Kaladin fought, but always with a bit of tiredness with him. As with in the Way of Kings, Kaladin will have a goal. While he strives to complete that goal, he will work on his depression, and hopefully swear the Fourth Ideal in the process.
  14. Yes. I’ll fix it. You’re right. They are still considered external metals, but have some internal effects.
  15. I actually thought it was a reference to Honor’s death. After Honor’s death, the people of Roshar were left without a deity. They were left in the dark, or night. The “choice of honor is life” could be an allusion to how he fought for humanity until the very end. The Death Rattle could also be a reference to the first Ideal of the Knights Radiant (particularly “life before death”). The choice of honor would be swearing the Immortal Words, something very few have gotten away with. The night that is reigning is the dark times without Surgebinders, who glow with Stormlight.
  16. Yeah. The only problem I see with this is bendalloy and cadmium Savantism where the speed bubble is anchored to the Allomancer, despite being an external metal.
  17. Very interesting. I absolutely agree.
  18. Especially if Kaladin gets a hit on Dalinar and leeches away all of his Shardplate’s stormlight.
  19. Not entirely final, I think. There have been a few typos and mistakes (like Leshwi bleeding from a Shardblade cut), so it could be changed in the final version.
  20. If you have both zinc and brass inside a gemstone, how to you choose which one is affecting the Spren? Swapping between opposing metals is what I think steel and iron are for. I agree that attracting and repulsing could be what Navani means. Any number of theories could be possible.
  21. Exactly.
  22. I’ve always thought that the evidence we have seen is the shattered plains, made by a Dawnshard somehow.
  23. Allomancy produces effects by burning a metal to affect the burner or another person or object. Fabrials produce effects by using metals to internally make a spren trapped inside a gemstone manifest external effects. You aren’t applying Investiture to the metals. The metals are changing the way the Spren produces effects. I’m not saying there aren’t some similarities, like metal type; I’m just saying that Fabrials shouldn’t be considered a fourth metallic art and that Allomancy is not as related to Fabrials as everyone is stating. Steel and iron in Allomancy push and pull on external metals. Steel and iron in Fabrials change what metal is internally affecting the Spren. If you have both zinc and brass for a power up or power down, you will want a way to swap between those.
  24. We have a few correlations with Allomancy, I agree. However, all of the metals only affect Spren, even with external metals. You also have to stick wires of the metal into the gemstone-trapped Spren to even produce an effect As a side note, steel and iron are outliers as well.
  25. Fabrials just aren’t related to Allomancy as much as everyone thinks. Some of the metals have similar effects, but other than that it is not related. In Allomancy, a misting or mistborn burns a metal, if they are able to. Then, that metal produces effects by using Preservation’s power. For Fabrials, you need a Spren captured in a gemstone. Then you stick metal wires inside the gemstone to make to Spren manifest effects, with different metals modifying and changing the amount, range, and polarization of the power produced. To power this, you need some Stormlight as well.
