  1. QF52 Cycle 2: Open Floor, Locked Door "That was dreadfully rude, good sir," said one of the nobles. The discussions quieted as more sensitive ears picked up the word and whispered it along. This was a societal ball; rudeness was highly frowned upon. Even Lord Hasting himself drug his gaze up from the fine wine he'd nearly doused himself with. "I would contest that assumption," replied Trollten. Hasting nodded to himself. The High Prelan had the power of his rank, but he also had... eccentricities. "Contest that assumption?" Liranil said in what sounded like a tone that was well and truly concerned. "It is not your place to contest what you believe my feelings are. And I am offended. Gravely." Her companion Illwei quickly began nodding along. "I apologize, I meant no offense, but you see-" The rest of his voice was drowned out by shouts. First Sisar denounced him as posturing, and then finally the newcomer of Kiel added in his voice. Hasting gripped his head. Then closed his eyes as a gong went off in the distance. "High Prelan Trollten. As much as we appreciate that you decided to come... we cannot have our guests causing such a ruckus no matter their station. I must ask you to leave." Trollten began to say something, but the words seemed to die on his lips as Hasting gave him a drunken glare. This was his keep, after all. The Final Empire's servants may have more jurisdiction, but that never seemed to correlate with real power. Especially after the Elariel incident. "I understand. Or, I claim to. But I may be forced to file on this, Hasting. This is unprecedented." "We live in unprecedented, good sir. Now, will someone please escort him out?" he finished. A guardsman stood up from his post, but he was quickly pushed aside by Liranil. She still looked angry for having her evening ruined. "I'll do it. Myself." * * * "OUT!" Liranil shouted. Trollten jolted, then began walking into the mists. He was noble, not afraid of them. It impressed her, somewhat. It wasn't often you saw an obligator without a carraige, but it seemed Trollten valued a different aspect of himself than pride. And Liranil was still creeped out by the mists... they swirled back and forth, but never seemed to go into buildings. It was so odd. Click. Liranil turned around at the noise. The side door she'd come out of... hadn't she left it open? "Hello?" She walked over to the door, put her hand on the handle. It wouldn't budge. "Hello?" She slammed the knocker, the sound reverberating. A flash of some reflection, and she turned around. The mists were coming closer. "Hello?" Was that something moving in there? "Hello- HELP!" The Unknown Order was uninvited! They were a Hasting Host! Liranil was killed! They were a Hasting Host! Vote Count: The Unknown Order (4): Liranil, Archer, Illwei, Bridge-Four Liranil (1): Matrim's Dice Matrim's Dice (1): Quintessential Dannex (1): The Unknown Order Bridge-Four (1): Kings_Way Your selected PMs have been created! (Or will be shortly.) Other than these, all PMs are closed for the rest of the game. Flyingbooks has decided to drop out of the game, so they will be replaced with a pinch hitter. Everyone welcome @xinoehp512 to the game! In addition, @Jondesu did not post last cycle, so this is their official warning to post or be replaced. (And I've only got one pinch hitter left... if anyone outside the game would like to pinch hit, just PM to let me know!) The cycle will end at 1:00 PM PST on April 17th. Get your votes and actions in by then! Player List:
  2. QF52 Cycle 1: Welcome One and All! Welcome to Keep Hasting! Hang your coat on the wall, or simply hand it to the nearest Terrisman, then sit down and enjoy the show! We have a large selection of appetizers, salads, and champagne, but best of all is our main course, a young pig raised especially for this day. Four out of five Tineyes said they'd never tasted anything better! And, of course, there are the festivities - dancing, reading, plotting, scheming! There's fun for everyone! In the interest of hospitality, I must inform you we have Seekers among both or guests and staff. Not that Allomancy is forbidden, of course, but it may attract... undue attention if not used discretely. We wouldn't want anyone to have an unfair advantage, would we? Oh, and stay off the third floor corridor. We've got more than Seekers up there. Cycle One will end in approximately 23 hours, at 1:00 PM PST on April 16th. A few reminders: The execution, in addition to being anonymous, will kill all tied players and has a 2-vote minimum. You can vote around in red and green in the thread, but I won't be counting it. Or looking at it, for that matter. Remember to vote in your GM PM! PMs are closed. You can request one PM in your GM PM, but that will be made by the GMs at the start of next cycle. Because I forgot to put them in the PMs... the wincon of the Hasting Hosts is to execute all of the Elariel Eliminators. The wincon of the Elariel Eliminators is to reach parity (equal numbers) with the Hasting Hosts. If you haven't got your GM PM yet, just PM or @ me. The inactivity filter is for 2 cycles (48 hours). Have fun! I feel like I'm forgetting something... if I forgot it it probably wasn't important. Yeah. Player List:
  3. So, it seems that the Long Game is finally coming to a close (or is it well it's close enough anyway). List is currently: Wilson + Elbereth (but no pass for KKC... and I think that's usually a summer thing anyway) @StrikerEZ x2 - Striker's currently marked as busy but I think he said he wanted LG76-77 for his two games... somewhere? Matrim's Dice - guessing you don't want two in a row @Sart @Elandera @Experience @Ventyl @Straw Ashbringer - am going to be running the QF, so not yet @TJ Shade
  4. Continuing on the topic of jest:
  5. "Aluminum, Internal Pushing Enhancement... except it doesn't really enhance, does it. It removes any speck of metal from your system, like chromium but only on yourself. Mostly it's in demand for weapons, not Allomancy... I suppose having it in piercings would slow the effects of Leeching, but it would still have the effect." Something clicked. "But chromium doesn't just affect metals, does it? It can work on Stormlight, and others. And it doesn't rip all the iron out of your bloodstream. Just the metal you can use Allomantically... and you're essentially self-Leeching any of that out of you, at all times," she finished. "You're canceling any Investiture besides your own." That was very interesting. NullBlade... she could see where the name came from. A lone man with a Shardblade could decimate an entire platoon of footsoldiers - but even a 2nd Oath Radiant stood a fair shot. Take away that edge, however... and suddenly that Shardblade becomes a much larger factor. The Ghostbloods would love to hear this... although Cassie was becoming more and more aware of how much they already knew. Well, she'd led them to a deposit of Hemalurgic spikes. That would satisfy them for a good while. "It's... funny. Allomancers practice and practice and break their barriers, and their savantism just makes them so much stronger. But a Soulcaster..." she rotated her shoulder, stiffly, "we get the short straw of all things."
  6. "I've been before, but I'm not really used to the outside of it... the few times I've been I'm usually out cold. Get knocked out, someone panics and sends me here, and then I have to deal with that... not the best. But I'll probably make a better navigator." Poller didn't know what to make of Folorian. He was a Lightweaver, that much was clear. And his bane made it so he could only focus on one thing at a time... he hadn't offered any hints about his boon that he could remember, but what little Poller knew about the Nightwatcher was that her gifts were more subtle then her curses. Still... it was intriguing. "If you're looking at me, does that let you see where I'm going or how does that work?" he asked.
  7. "Thank you," she said, letting her arms relax a bit. "Poller... it's not really my place to say, but he has a condition that leaves him a bit off-balance at times. I think he just hit his head. A Truthwatcher could fix that easily enough, but he may have just been fed up with it and wanted a professional to look at him." That still didn't feel like Poller, though. Narcolepsy wasn't something that science really knew how to fix, and as far as she could tell Poller just depended on bronze instead of any medical treatment. He seemed exhausted with it, really. So why try again now? It wasn't really her place to say, was it. "He should be all right. He was fine enough to leave a note, and I'm pretty sure one of the customers around was a Truthwatcher. So I'm not too worried, but I still want to check on him. In the meantime... those braces you wanted. I probably shouldn't Soulcast for a while if I can avoid it, but I can forge them manually. I must say I've never really seen someone burn metal through their skin, much less aluminum. Who knows, I may try it with my iron some day." She'd have to be careful if she did. If she could use her own skin to fuel Allomancy... heh. That would be an interesting fate.
  8. Poller steadied himself. His bronze was running low... or, it seemed... something was different. Had he drifted off? "We should go, then... I guess," he said, rubbing his forehead. Wait, would Folorian have heard that? He wasn't entirely sure how to get the Lightweaver's attention. Aln knew how, most likely. "I don't know the Einladung that well, but I can probably find my way around if I need to. Get in, get my head checked out, try and find anything relating to the Dark or memories going weird. Meanwhile you guys sneak in and look for anything they're hiding." Well... here goes nothing. Poller took a step forward. Toward... who knows. @Rushu42 @mathiau
  9. Um... yes. We're technically in the middle of an era, but we're trying to wrap it up in some fashion. After that would probably be a new era, but you're welcome to join in now if you want. As to what is going on, there are much more qualified people than me who can explain
  10. Cassie blinked, mentally checking that she had in fact put her gloves back on. "I..." Best to be honest with this one, or at least mostly. "I... over-extended myself at the Trader's Heaven. I don't have the luxury of a Nahel bond to channel my Soulcasting, which leads to... complications, if manageable ones. And my assistant apparently is at the Einladung. I think... I'm going there as well. Two birds with one stone and all that." She paused her step. "I can manage, but... I might appreciate the company."
  11. Cassie gripped the door handle. It was more difficult than she was anticipating. She had to shift her burden to her left arm to open the door with her right. All the metal she'd Soulcast in Lord's dungeon... she wasn't one to let it go to waste. Not that much mercury, silver, steel. And not when she desperately needed a break. The Emporium was dark. Too dark. Cassandra stepped over to the front desk, where Poller was usually snoozing. Instead, there was a small note, inscribed in... metal? Had another episode. Fell over. Head hurts. Went to the Hospital to get it checked out, but it should be alright. Make sure you remember. That wasn't like Poller. Cassie didn't really know what to make of the kid - he was genuine, and good with his Feruchemy. But he also seemingly couldn't control it. Or... no, he had narcolepsy. That was it. Rusts, what was with her? Either way... he always had things under his own control. Progression didn't work on his type of chronic condition, especially when it had been so interweaved with his own Investiture. He shouldn't need to go to the hospital for that... and he'd been with a Truthwatcher customer, who would definitely be able to take care of a head wound from him toppling over. So why the Hospital? Cassie sighed. She'd go check on him soon. But first... she pulled off her gloves. The sight of two hands greeted her. One pink, tinged with the tones of flesh. The other... bronze. Nearly entirely. Well, not bronze. Cassie had done some tests, and she still didn't know what metal her body was turning into. It was strong, and had the not-gold shade of a bronze plating or an overly tanned Shin. But it was stronger than any bronze ought to be. Perhaps it was a freakish alloy of every metal she'd ever Soulcast. She could also still move the limb. Her metal fingers responded just as naturally to her thoughts as her living ones, if quite a bit slower. Less precise. Perhaps it only covered the surface. She burned iron. And gasped. Her left arm appeared blue. Brilliant blue. That was to be expected, but there was hardly any not-blue left in her hand. And the lines... tendrils snaked down through her shoulder, twisting through her body. Cassie's free arm - her right - almost instinctively moved to across her chest. The place the Coinshot had hit her, where she'd shaken it off, her dress was torn right through - but the skin was unbroken, for there was no skin to break. Even her bones glowed. What had changed? Her nervous system? Arteries? Tendons? Did this just happen from overexerting herself, or had it been happening this whole time? How hadn't she noticed? She knew the answer to the last one. She'd never thought to look. Okay. Focus. Don't panic. Cassie quickly grabbed her gloves, pulling them back on. She hesitated before strapping on her Soulcaster as well. Perhaps going to the Hospital may have another benefit. But... no. No one must ever know. Not until she had a plan. What to do. Ten minutes later, Cassie was out the door. Gloves in place, cursed fabrial held proud. And an aluminum lined dress. Just in case. Off to the Hospital it was.
  12. If you need any large objects or armies dismantled, I know a guy....
  13. Checks DM in a blind panic Oh, wait, you meant role-blocked, didn't you. Okay good RAFO Voting is a very important part of our society! Though... probably not Alethkar society. Ash being elim is, unfortunately, not for sale. At least, I'm pretty sure. Mat, are there any secret Market items? I think Quinn is a good candidate for a tie. I mean, look! Four people just blindly followed her judgement with absolutely none of their own! Last I checked we didn't agree at all... So... How's everyone's week? Mine seems to have been busy. Wonder why.
  14. ... dare I try to bring Faleast and AraRaash into the Alleyverse. No. No I don't. (Not for now, at least... hehehehehe...)
