Inconsistencies on Roshar's Technological Advancement?
LordTheodore replied to orc's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The recreance was 2000 years ago. The Last Desolation was 4500 years ago which is equivalent to 4950 Earth years. -
Presumably Melishi had to leave the Tower to imprison Ba-Ado-Mishram since it is unlikely she would be in the Tower.
-
Well Taravangian only messed with Hoid's memories so that Hoid would still believe that Rayse is Odium's Vessel. I find it plausible that Hoid wouldn't expect Rayse to mess with his memories especially since he knows that Rayse loves to brag and show off. Bragging is most satisfying when the person your bragging to has all the knowledge required to understand why your so awesome. I honestly think Rayse would find it unsatisfying to beat Hoid because he destroyed his memories.

Zinc and Brass use in Fabrials
LordTheodore replied to Rock's Sous Chef's topic in Stormlight Archive
There is a long thread discussing this in RoW Lore, Magic, and Cosmere Discussion. -
The notion of the Fused swearing oaths is ridiculous since the shard of Honor has dominion over oaths and they are literally opposed to Honor. The idea that Odium would put oaths into the Fused would be contradictory to everything we know about him.

What about the Skybreakers?
LordTheodore replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
The skybreakers aren't on Odium's side. They are on the side of the singers just not the Fused. -
I hope Kaladin dies as reading his chapters are a chore. But I doubt he will.

Prologue made me think Gavilar may not be actually dead.
LordTheodore replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
I find it hard to believe you thought she was dead. I can understand if Shallan's POV gaslighted you into thinking as book went on. But honestly if Jasnah had actually died, in that way, it would have broken my suspension of disbelief and I wouldn't have read any of Sanderson's books ever again. I don't really know how else to put this but if a reader thinks that Jasnah is dead after reading WOK and WOR up to that point then that is a flaw in their thinking. Whenever I notice a similar flaw in my own thinking I will disparage myself for being stupid. When know that surgebinders can heal with stormlight!!! We know Jasnah has access to stormlight!!! The assassins were distracted by Shallan!!! and the most obvious and clearest indicator is that HER BODY DISAPPEARED!!! I mean how Shallan thought she was dead I will never know. -
Prologue made me think Gavilar may not be actually dead.
LordTheodore replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
Jasnah DID NOT DIE. Therefore she cannot have been resurrected. One of the biggest questions I have about WOR is why Jasnah decided to elsecall and not just kill her assailants. She could at the very least soulcast their bodies. Potentially she could have cut them down with Ivory. I don't understand why she left Shallan, alone and defenceless, and abandoned her Notes. -
The Shard of Ingenuity, Fabrials and the Sibling
LordTheodore replied to a topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just because three entities are ruling a place doesn't mean that they are ruling together. If you have two sides of a conflict in an area and one side is ruled by two distinct entities working together for whatever reason and the other side is ruled by a single entity would that not be a situation in which three are ruling. Out of curiosity how many rulers do you think are ruling during a civil war? Because I would say at least one for each side.- 19 replies

The Heavenly Ones Aren't Honorable
LordTheodore replied to ConfusedCow's topic in Stormlight Archive
So to be clear Leshwi and 3 other Fused attack a party of 4 humans including two Shardbearers Moash and Graves. They don't ambush them. They fly towards them and attack them. The fact that no one in Graves group is on the lookout for Flying voidbringers isn't the fault of the Fused. Moash only notices them because he happened to glance upwards just before they attacked giving him chance to dodge. An ambush is where one force hides so that the enemy force doesn't notice them and then proceeds to attack when the enemy force has checked the surrounding area and failed to locate the ambushing force. This results in the ambushing force gaining the advantage of surprise. An ambush is not where one force attacks another force and the attacked force is taken by surprise because they didn't have lookouts. During the Attack the Fused do in fact follow their one on one dueling philosophy. Each Fused attacks an individual member of the group and none of them interfere in each others fights. The only member of the group who dodges the initial attack by their respective Fused is Moash. Moash proceeds to duel Leshwi one on one whilst the other 3 Fused inspect the wagon and look through stuff. The other 3 Fused don't interfere in the duel between Leshwi and Moash at all except by indirectly helping Moash by giving him easy access to a spear. After Moash kills Leshwi the Fused even offer him a choice of surrendering or fighting to the death and when he chooses surrender they honor that agreement and take him prisoner. In the chapter in question Moash recalls that they used their shardblades to scare off any singers who approached them. It is plausible that one or multiple singers notified a fused or voidspren, of Moash and Graves group, who in turn communicated this to the Heavenly Ones who were then sent out to find and kill them. In addition Moash is armed with a long knife/short sword. Moreover it is possible that the Fused could see the dead-eye spren, in the cognitive realm, that are accompanying Graves and Moash. -
The sibling began its slumber shortly before the Recreance which was around 2000 years ago. I suppose a Bondsmith of the generation prior to Melishi's generation could have broken his/her oaths.

[RoW] Kaladin: Master of the Coup D'etat
LordTheodore replied to IntentAwesome's topic in Stormlight Archive
Would Odium doing such a thing give Dalinar an opportunity to Force a contest of champions? -
I agree that it is plausible that Red isn't a Lightweaver. However I disagree with the idea that this is pure speculation. Imo speculation is something that is possible no more no less for example one could speculate that Raoden is on Roshar during the events of Warbreaker. There is no real evidence to support this but it is possible. However the very fact that Red works for Shallan and has worked for Shallan for over a year and that Vathah became a squire in Oathbringer and that Red was also on the Kholinar mission. Is evidence that he is a lightwever. In addition there is the evidence in ROW I outlined above. The evidence is not conclusive but it is significant.
-
As I understand it is speculation heavily supported by evidence. Specifically That Red has been undercover in the Sons of Honor. The logic is that Red cannot stay close to Shallan in order to maintain access to his surges since him doing so would likely compromise his cover. Therefore he cannot be a squire. Therefore he must have his own spren. Technically I suppose he could be a Truthwatcher. But with Kaladin all of the Bridgemen bonded Honorspren. So since Red was recruited by and is working under shallan the implication is that he is a Lightweaver

We know that there is a lack of Elsecallers as the majority of Inkspren are opposed to forming the Nahel Bond. We also know that the Elsecallers were the order who were most active in Shadesmar. In addition as far as we know only Timbre is the only Lightspren willing to form the Nahel Bond and she was unwilling to bond a human. This means that there are no Willshpers in the coalition which is another order that was involved in Shadesmar. This means that the radiants probably have had little involvement in affairs in shadesmar over the past year which is problematic since we know that the fused were already exerting considerable influence over shadesmar in Oathbringer. They have had another year in which to consolidate their power with, I suspect, little radiant opposition. I suspect that the honorspren are actively engaged in conflict with the fused and losing because they have little radiant support and few numbers. Also its likely that the Highspren have come to some sort of arrangement with the Fused which would remove another historical ally of the Honorspren from the conflict in shadesmar

Perhaps but if Dalinar trusted him to obey him then why wouldn't he have Szeth do something useful. I suppose it is possible that Dalinar is testing Szeth's commitment to his vow to follow his orders.

Personally I don't see any evidence to disprove the simple explanation. That his treatment of Navani was due to him being annoyed that she interrupted his meeting.
