  1. It's like a recording, but the people can interact with him in a limited way. Dalinar himself is positioned as one of the characters in the memory and if he acts out of part, the other people act confused. Mostly he won't be albe to get much information, because they simply don't answer if he falls to much out of part.
  2. Part German reader here. So in the OB epigraphs: Chapter 13, book 2: 70 in the english version: Etwas geschieht mit dem Geschwister. Chapter 11, book 2: corresponding to 68: der Geschwisterteil habe sich absichtlich zurückgezogen. It seems like third person singular to me, but German can be confusing. So to the translation of "them": This translates to. And this is very confusing to me, because in the first sentence he uses "ES" which is the third person singular neutral pronoun. In the second part they translate it to "SIE", which could be either third person singular feminin or third person plural. "IHNEN" is without doubt thrid person plural, but could refer to the Sibling AND the Nightwatcher. Otherwise this translation would be very inconsistent and I don't know what to make out of this. Just found another oddity: The last epigraph from the gem archive in Urithiru: In german the " sweet Sibling" was translated to "lieber Zwilling", in englisch "twin". Now I'm even more confused, but it is singular again. Maybe the german book is no good reference.
  3. Yes. That's my conclusion after listening to the stream myself, too.
  4. His exact wording is, that by the time RoW comes out, they will have canonized all 16, or nearly all 16 shards. It's by minute 57 on average during a writing advice to foreshadowing. So all in all, he will have canonized them, but we will most probably not know all of them, but I'm fairly certain, that at least a few will be dropped in RoW. Probably on the Epigraphs.
  5. I'm not a fan of the theory, but he could have been avatarized after their arrival on Roshar, couldn't he?
  6. If you want to say that Hoid is Adonalsium then I have to disappoint you:
  7. I think this should depend on how highly invested the Splinter is. Spren ans Aons are also considered splinters and a shardblade is able to kill Spren. This was confirmed via WoB and we actually see Kaladin destroy a Voidspren in OB. So after all, Nightblood is like a Shardblade so destroying and absorbing Splinters should be no problem for him. To Larkins and other Types of Investiture On Scadrial: I'm not 100% sure, but when a Feruchemist stores an attribut it is stored via Investiture. It is called End-neutral because the Investiture doesn't come directly from a Shard, but is provided by the Feruchemist himself. AND it isn't lost, the metalmind will hold the charge forever, unless it is tapped. That the metalmind really holds Investiture can be seen in Mistborn, as Wax isn't able to push on an charged metalmind, and the fact, that a metalmind could block Shardblades, because Investiture resist other Investiture. So theoretically, as Larkins feed of Investiture, they could simly "eat" the charge from the metalmind. Considering this WoB, it came to my mind, that maybe a Larkin cannot feed off Identitiy-locked Investiture like metalminds or awakened objects. On top, I think that a Larkin could be able to drain the Investiture from a Hemalurgic Spike. If this is really possible, would they loose their Hemalurgic use ans simply return to a normal metalspike? The third metallic art, allomancy, only uses Investiture when the metal is burned and I think this is where the Larkin will interrupt. So an allomancer starts burning his metal, but with a Larkin nearby he cannot use allomancy. But the metal per se should not be effected. On Nalthis: I see no problem in Larkins draining Breaths from people and I think that Returned should really fear the presence of Larkins. Would people from Nalthis end up as a drab when they meet a Larkin? Seems pretty nasty to me. Other question: Can it feed off awakened objects? If yes: Nightblood vs. Larkin seems pretty interesting to me. Also, could a Larkin drain Breath from a Lifeless? Imho this could be working. On Sel: This is exactly would I thought of too. On Taldain: Could a Larkin drain Inverstiture from the Sand? We know that there are microbes in the Sand that turn it white and they can hold the Investiture that is "raining" down from the Dayside sun. So I assume that a Larkin could eat that Investiture as well.
  8. But didn't Ishar create the Oathpact? In the Coppermind he is even described as having had powers before he became a Herald. Honor and Cultivation locked away Odium, so it kind of seems logical, that Tanavast would help in locking away the Fused too. But I believe he just granted Ishar and the Heralds the power to battle and bind theis enemy.
  9. Iirc, there was a WoB where he said, that he considers everything that is printed in the books as canon, and things that he has planned are not canon per se, because he tends to alter them aftewards.
  10. I just reread the scene and this seems more likely.
  11. Could Radiant have soulcast the wine? I know that Shallan isn't skilled in Soulcasting, but Radiant could be. I'm not sure how exactly she could have done it, it's just a theory.
  12. The drainage systems they need to build would have to be really huge with all the water coming down during a highstorm. Or you had to seal them very tight from the outside. Possible but this will take a lot effort.
  13. It's a "Heyne" cover. Don't overthink this too much. They are handling covers very freely. The artist do seldom get a glimpse at the book so no wonder they don't depict a scene from the books. But the red cape guy is a theme in these no doubt.
  14. This is a very difficult statement, as the differnce between Syl and other Windspren, at least in the Physical Realm, comes from her bonding Kaladin. Otherwise she would just behave like her cousins. So I see not that a big diffrence, at least in an unbonded situation. This comparison is a bit difficult, because you make the assumption, that Neanderthals were "lesser humans", which, in fact, they weren't. But this is a different and difficult topic. But let me just say this, Neanderthalensis didn't disappear because they were more undeveloped than the modern human, but because they were fewer Neanderthals than Homo Sapiens. In fact, they lived several thousand years in coexistence in Europe and the Middle East. But I think I get your point. The whole topic is especially difficult when you have the origin of spren in mind. They are Investiture given a form, created by human perception/imagination of the world, the older spren of the perception of the singers. So is it unethical to use a product of universal perception to fuel or direct fabrials, which are just another idea of how the world could work? An other idea that came to my mind right now: In the interlude with the scholar researching flamespren. Is it unethical to draw flamespren, because they become locked in the drawn shape? In my understanding this limits their freedom as well. So over all, come to the conclusion, that using lesser spren in fabrials is simply an other way for the spren to fit into its role as a product of human imagination. With higher spren it gets more tricky, because they can gain sentience in the PR and HAVE sentience in the CR
  15. Honor and Cultivation didn't create the Singers, that's right. But both were worshipped as gods before they turned to Odium because of their conquest with the humans that arrived on Roshar. So they could have been influenced by Honor to an honorful behavior. Sadly, we do not know much about the First Desolation and the time before. I hope, that the back 5 will partly deal with this topic, at least in the flashback sequences of the Heralds.
  16. It's not like I'm living on the website. I've been absent for over two month I think. But I'm really into the small details and lore. And if you know what you are looking for, you can just search in the arcanum for it. I haven't nearly read all the WoBs myself. I just want to know a lot of things, because it helps sorting the new stuff stuff and it's easier to draw conclusions. And sometimes there is not much to do at work, so browsing the forum and the arcanum is all I have left to do.
  17. In this WoB it is clearly stated as a Bondsmith power
  18. I think all of the Bondsmiths were able to infuse Spheres, but wath Dalinar did, was opening a Perpedicularity. And that is something new. It even surprised Odium to that point, that he fled the battlefield. But the Sphere infusion seems like a natural Bondsmith thing to do.
  19. Wasn't the Taldain System created by Autonomy? I'm bout not 100% positiv on this but I thought Khriss wrote something like this. So do you mean that the EMR functions as a sort of catalyst similar to the metals in Mistborn. That would make sense to me, because in this case, the color doesn't need to carry Investiture, but is indeed crucial for awakening. Edit: I know you stated this in THIS post, but in the other post you have linked, it seems to me, you say that photons/EMR carries Investiture. But this is against your statement that Pathways are not Investiture, so I'm confused.
  20. Jup. This will definitly become very important. I think it will be a combination of multiple time bubbles, the Harmonium Cubes and something we haven't seen yet. Someone was pretty close to solving the allomantic FTL, but we are still missing one piece. There are certain WoBs that are thinking along the right lines. Primarly This, this and that one. While the last one mentions an Alcubierre Drive, I think this is a solid start for further theorizing the FTL
  21. It can be released as fast as you want, but you need more charge for higher effects. Let's say you have stored enough speed to go twice as fast for four minutes. If you want to go four times as fast as standard speed, it would hardly last for 1 minute and not 2, because the cinsumption rate isnt linear but exponential. You want to go 8 times faster, only lasts a few seconds. And so on. So the amount of Investiture you need to have stored is so high, that you probably couldn't move, because if the weight of your metalminds. And of course there is relativity stuff going on that prevents you from going faster even in friction free areas.
  22. I think it's the consumption rate at which the metal can be burned/tapped, which should be at an exponential rate, especially in the higher rates.
  23. I see some problems with this theory. First of all, as I see this, there is so net gain from running downwards with gravitational aid. So one is ultimately stronger than the other one. You can either outrun the gravity or the gravity “outpulls” your running speed. The second thing is the combination of the Friction-Surge with the Steelrunner ability. This WoB clarifies that a steelcompounding Edgedancer could not outrun a nuclear bomb, so they do not get that fast. Now it gets interesting. A bendalloy savant can, as you said, move his time bubble with him. But even though there are different problems with moving bubbles. Items moving in and out of a bubble will be deflected in strange angles. Furthermore you will need more energy when this happens, I think this means that the metal will be burned faster. With enough supply this isn’t a problem but one to be dealt with. Let’s assume we have nothing in our way. This is from the coppermind. An explosion can have a velocity of up to 10.000 m/s. In combination with the timebending coefficient of 8 this would even lead to a speed of 80.000 m/s, which isn’t even a fraction of the speed of light.
  24. For the awakening process Color is necessary, so the conclusion, that the Investiture Comes from photons is logical. On top of that, the investiture eating sword nightblood leaves darkened wounds behind. My main problem with that would be, that awakening can be performed everywhere in the cosmere, even the cognitive realm. That would mean, Endowments invested photons are everywhere in the cosmere, and not limited to Nachtisch. While this alone isn’t a big issue, the other thing is, again nightblood. NB Feeds of the investiture of its holder. We have seen it consuming Breaths from Vasher and Stormlight from Szeth. This obviously leads to the conclusion, Breath = Investiture. IMHO the difference between SL Awakening and Breath Awakening is the affinity of the Investiture to the object holding it. While humans are leaking Stormlight, Breath is being held perfectly. We see the same with the Fused holding Voidlight perfectly. I read a WoB where Brandon said, that Breath kind of holds the “Ideal” for the shape of a Human based on the divine Form of Endowments Vessel. That’s why I believe humans can hold Breath perfectly unlike Stormlight. EDIT: on Taldain I believe that it is in fact the sand, more precisely the microbes in the Sand that are invested. I think this is similar to the invested worms on Patji on First of the Sun. The only difference is the way these organisms gather Investiture. On FotS I think it had to do with lake on Patji that acts like a Perpendicularity in some way. On Taldain it is in fact the Sun that provides the Investiture. Iirc the Taldain System was designed by Automony as it is. To back up my believe concerning Taldain I can only bring up the Sandlings that seem to feed of invested sand to survive without water (It seems to me this works just the other way round like Lifts ability to create Investiture from food.
  25. We know they destroyed the planet with their magic. But the term "Surges" is the word, that the Dawnsingers used for just Magic, so its like a synonym to them. The exact means by which Ashyn was destroyed are unknown.
