  1. Oh yeah, apparently it was already in tWoK
  2. Szeth is 37? Did we know that? Is this a typo? Am I bad at Math?
  3. If Dalinar ascends to Honor, then loses the conflict/dies in the conflict, I don't think he will be the Shard anymore, as he will be dead and the shard will drop again.
  4. Doesn't seem implausible, considering this WOB: So there seems to be a connection to Honor
  5. I don't know if you are familiar with an Alcubierre Drive. But it's basically a mechanism to warp the spacetime around you (the space in front of you is contracted and the space behind is expaded). If you employ two opposing speedbubbles correctling, at least that is the line the questioner was thinking along, you could mimic these effects. Of course these bubbles need to be large enough to fit a spaceship in there, but with correct usage of primer cubes this could work out pretty well.
  6. Brandon doesn't want to confirm if Hoid has Feruchemy or not. But the way he answeres these questions feels to me, like Hoid does have it, or at least something similar.
  7. The most infurating to me is Shallon.
  8. I think the time, that Kelsier is a CS is too short, to have a "turn into a spren" effect on him. A lot of the Fused, even though they get more ans more crazy, are not sprenlike, ans they didn't have a physical body for over 4500 year. And they have been killed over and over before, what progresses the crazyness more than just being alive. If he turned into a Spren, I don't think it would be a/the Survival Spren, because he wasn't made into a CS with the intent/command to survive, but by the overwhelming amount of Investiture in the WoA. From the short time Kelsier held the Shard of Preservation, we know that his personality doesn't align well with Preservation, so the time in the Well did not leave a huge mark on him. I think in term of mechanics, they should behave like Spren, I'm thinking of sentient Spren like the Radiant Spren. The different types of Spren have own cultures and personalities, etc. so that should work for anyone who is a cognitive entity. Imho, the main difference between a CS with and one without physical body is their power level. Because of their missing connection the PR their lack a huge portion of power, like Kelsier in the fight against Ruin.
  9. In Oathbringer we learned about the content of the Eila Stele, a fragment text written in Dawnchant, the old language of the Dawnsingers. Through the translation of this text, we got to know that the histrorical Voidbringer were in fact humans who came from Ashyn, one of the other planets in the Rosharan System, and not the Singers. As the Radiants of old learned about this, and about what led to the disparture from Ashyn, they were worried about their powers leading to another destruction. This alone would not have led to the Recreance, as this has happened before and through Honor, the Radiants often managed to cope with their feelings. The problem during the time of the Recreance was, that Honor was dieing and going mad. Instead of comforting the Radiants about the past, he was ranting about history repeating itself and the supposed destruction of Roshar through the hands of the Radiants. Because of this desperation, the Radiants and their Spren agreed on letting their oaths behind and to part ways. Little did they know, that this would kill their Spren leading to a Genocide among many Radiantprens. Now it gets a bit difficult, because as of now, the Oathpact is still "working". The Heralds are still Connected to each other, what we see in them reacting to the death of Jezrien. Furthermore, Taln was able to give the Humans on Roshar 4.500 years of peace, which would not have been possible if the Oathpact was broken. Well, the pact is really almost broken down, but until now it still stands. Iirc, Jasnah wanted to kill the Heralds to seal the fused back on Braize, like it was before, not out of spite for breaking an Oath
  10. Yeah, this always bothered me. I really don't like the book title. And I wouldn't be surprised to find out, that they didn't notice it by themselves. On the other hand, most of the German book titles are really bad and do not fit the english ones, so it doens't surprise me either, that Edgedancer got messed with.
  11. "Die Tänzerin am Abgrund" is also only the title for the Shortstory and not the Edgedancer Radiants. The Radiants are called "Grattänzer", where "Grat" is "ridge" in English, but it has an awesome nice ring to it.
  12. I want to throw in this WoB to the argument: If the Misting can hear the Rhythms, they must be playing in the Background, like all the time.
  13. Yes Okay, so after all, I think I have to agree with you. And thank you for the short digression. But where do you think we should put Investiture in the equation? Is Investiture another form of Energy, or is everythink just a form of Investiture?
  14. Oh I'd never dare insulting Maths. Maths is awesome. Just the Maths in Physics are often, let's say interesting. I'm studying Maths myself, so that was never meant as an insult. That was a typo. Should have been "or". Possible that I confused the terms, I'm not a native speaker myself, so a bit gets lost in translation. But what I meant was the inner Energy of a closed system. But I didn't want to get too technical here, as I'm not an expert myself. I know that the total energy of a system also includes the mass of the matter. Is it called rest energy in english? Iirc matter can't just be converted to energy and vice versa. Like you can't just destroy protons, neutrons and electrons and gain energy from that. But as I said, I'm not deep enough into that, so I can be wrong about this. After further reading I'm even more confused than before and I'm kind of getting the feeling, that these are all just different forms of energy and that matter equals the rest mass energy. In top there are other forms like heat, kinetics, potential, etc.?
  15. I'm not 100% certain on this topic as I'm fortunately not studying physics (It's super interesting but the Maths is a pain in the ass). But we know from the relativity Theorie that E=m*c^2, with E being the inner oder free Energy of a mass m, and the lightspeed c. With this equation we are able to calculate the energy that is "produced" by nuclear fission and fusion. As in our universe nothing can really be created, but only converted, that energy needs to come from somewhere. This energy results from the massdefect from nuclear reaction. So in our universe there are two states. Energy vs matter. They can be converted into the other one, but they are definitely different things. This can then be applied to the Cosmere. The only difference here, we have three states. Energy, matter and Investiture. They can be converted into each other, but something cannot be two at the same time. So a stone is made up of matter. The Energy of it's atomic bonds is keeping it together. And it probably has Investiture to some degree. I hope this makes sense. This is the WoB I was referring to. So in conclusion matter and energy are different "forms", maybe the wrong word but can't think of something better rn, of the thing the universe is made of. And the Cosmere there are three of these forms.
  16. Probably lots of red, if it exists.
  17. But it is not the same
  18. To the glowing of Stormlight in Gems we have this WOB. And I remember a discussion about whether the light a perfectly cut gemstone emitts can charge White Sand or not. But basically. The glowing effect comes from the SR. So maybe it's like a mini Warphole or something like that.
  19. This is a bold assumption. If we apply this to our universe, everything would be Energy. But this is definitely not true, because matter exists. We have a WOB stating that in the Cosmere the laws of our universe are enhanced by adding Investiture to the equation E = m*c^2. And we also know, that Shardblades, an example for solid Investiture, do not have the same properties as normal swords. Invested objects or pure Investiture resist other Investiture, because they are saturated. Brandon once said, it's like pouring water in a glass, that is already full. Let's take Steelpushing as an example for the use of Investiture. You can push on normal metal, because it has no special properties, e.g. it is neither invested nor Investiture, as stated by yet another WOB. Metalminds can't be pushed on under normal conditions. That's because they store Investiture. If your Investiture surpasses the amount of Investiture in the Metalmind you can push on them, as seen in Mistborn when Vin inhales the Mists. The next step is pure solid Investiture, like the Godmetals. These resist Investiture and cannot be pushed on by allomancy. A special case is metal embedded into a human. It's a lot harder to push on these, because the innate Investiture of a living being blocks other Investiture. But again, if you are strong enough, you can break through this barrier. Another example is soulcasting. Living beings are supposedly harder to soulcast than inanimated things, like stones (except for Stick, which is known to be stubborn).
  20. We don't know for sure, but often the most simple options turns out to be the right one. Which doesn't mean I would be surprised if it turned out to be an Unmade wispering to Szeth. I'm still waiting for a possible Unmade Radiant. This could lead to awesome powers only matched by those of a Bondsmith.
  21. That said, it’s possible an Unmade could have been involved somehow. I think he is talking about the first spren he was about to bond. That which led to him being named truthless.
  22. My main issue with this is, that the metal acts like a key, access Investiture from the SR und form it. It is not invested or anything. The same happens on Sel through different means. I know, the Dor is in the CR and not in the SR, but the concept stays the same. On Nalthis Investiture is endowed to everyone on birth or rebirth, aka the Returned, you don't need a key to access the SR, because the Investiture is already there with you. And SL acts the same, the key to accessing SL is the Highstorm. To me it functions like a huge well pumping Investiture from the SR to the PR. As SL is not "sticky" like Breath, or VL on the Fused, is evaporates quickly, if not adequately stored, and sickers back to the SR. It works like pumping water in a bucket full of holes. If the pump is storng enough, you can have plenty of water for a short term, but as the time goes on, the bucket will be empty, unless you catch some water. The flora and fauna on Roshar is dependant on this cycle, which seems similar to the water cycle on earth and this analogy works pretty well. Back when Honor was still alive, the Heralds could tap SL directly with no need of Spheres to store it in them. Maybe the Fused have a similar link to Odium, but only to some degree. We know, that the Fused are a pretty perfect container for VL, like Humans for Breath. Maybe this increases their efficiency on using it to a degree, where it seems like they don't use any of it. My pet theorie is, that there is a certain part in each surge, that they can pull the Investiture for directly from Odium. Like Odium is powering their flight dircetly, but for healing and lashing, they need an extra source. All in all, I am convinced that indeed the stored SL is used by Radiants and no external radiation created by Stormlight beeing there. But if you are right about the Radiantion-thing, then a spren should be enough to fill in the part of gems. But this still leaves us to the issue of getting the Investiture back from the Sand, doesn't it? IMHO, this will be the biggest step to make.
  23. I was of the impression, that this was, because the Repressionfabrial that was powered by Raboniels Voidlight stopped working. Wasn't Urithiru described as boosting Radiant powers? Although this could be a crossover effect from Towerlight. I like this a lot. Maybe we will see something like this in the series. This should work. Connection is their power. And as we have seen from Ishar, you can do some crazy stuff with it. As Investiture is pulled from the SR and in the SR every place is the same, Dalinar should definitely pull Stormlight. Allomancers can burn metal anywhere and will still be powered by Harmony. This comes from their Connection to the Shard. Should be no problem.
  24. Yeah, this is something that is solely possible for the Sibling and their Bondsmith. You see, Towerlight is the Essence the Sibling is made of, and as well THEIR Light. The only entity on Roshar who is able to create it, is the Sibling and their Radiant. So you are right, that Navani basically turned into a Investiture generator. But only they can use it. We don't even know in Navani can Surgebind with Towerlight or if it is just usable by the Silbling to Power Urithiru. I think, this is kind of an interaction from a Rosharan Rhythm, something like a Rhythm of Growth or similar. But this som kind of natural interaction between SL and Music.
  25. I'm not sure if I agree with your idea or not, because it has some pretty valid points and I think you can fit many of the examples of Surgebinding/Farbrialtech in it, but only if certain conditions turn out to be true, which I am not sure about. But first to your assumptions regarding the Sand: Do we know for sure, that the Sand from Taldain can detect Fused or perfect gemstones? So far as I understand it, the Sand is able to detect kinetic Investiture, ergo Investiture that is being used oder leaking from something (this can be an imperfect Gemor a Radiant holding Stormlight) In this Scenario it could definitely not detect Stormlight in a perfect Gem. If it can detect perfect Gemstones, by what you are calling Spiritual Radiation, this would mean, that the Radiant could get more Storlight from a combination of Sand an Gem, because the Gem doesn't lose anything, but the Sand still charges. This process would create more Investiture by itself, without any outside force like a Perpendicularity or natural Investiture distribution like the Sun on Taldain or the Storms on Roshar. So this means, that using a multiple lashing would be like flaring a metal, and by that it would be used up faster, am I right? Another thing is the rate that Squires, Radiants from different Ideals and Honorbladewielders use Stormlight. We know that Radiants are a lot more effective, but why is that so? Do Squires and Honorblade work on Stormlight and progressing Radiants on the Spiritual Radiation provided by the former, which would be more effective? You are mostly basing your theorie on this WOB: Brandon says, that the leaking is not what is causing the Glow of the Spheres but that it is more like a lightbulb, that is screwed in the SR. If we take this by word, it only means, that investiture in Gemstones glows. But not that this radiation is made up of Investiture. I'm saying this, because Lightbulbs don't emmit the electricity they are powered with, but they glow as well. I'm reading this more a current flowing from an infinit battery and the light in the gem is the wire that creates the glowing. When SL leaks the wire gets thinner an thinner until there is no wire left to glow. Even the Fused need Investiture supply, even if they are not leaking any Voidlight at all. We have seen this on many occasions: They use their Voidlight for healing from wounds and they get hit often enough they need to retreat from the fight. They can Lash thing, like Windrunners do sometims, which costs them VL as well. The Pursuer uses up his VL pretty frequently when creating new Bodies. And I belive theis Soulcasters cannot Soulcast indefinitely. Well, these are my ideas to your theory. But she would still need Investiture to start with. Navani cannot create the Light with the Rythms, only attune certain Investiture to different tones, in this case the normal Tones and the Anti-Tones. But she cannot convert Investiture into another one. But I think they are on a really good track to "invent" some kind of purified or distilled Investiture that is Connection-less, or has the full Connection to all Shards. Even though Brandon has said, that something like unconnected Investiture doesn't exist.
