  1. Taldain magic isn't location dependent, it's just that the source of Investiture for Sand Mastery (at least) is sunlight, which is only available on Dayside. It's vaguely implied that Sand Mastery is inherited sort of like Allomancy, isn't it?
  2. Hoid does think that there's a trick to getting dead dragons to talk at the end of WaT.
  3. No. Thousands. The Shattering was only about 10,000 years before Elantris. Not billions of years.
  4. Hoid is a Dawnshard Sliver (or whatever term Brandon settles on). And a Radiant. And an allomancer. And has Breath. He's kind of a special case. In any case, Identity between Hoid's own body (those cells) and, well, his own body would not be surprising and has nothing to do with changing Identity.
  5. That shows that Retribution didn't succeed in destroying Nightblood, not that he didn't try.
  6. What makes you think Retribution won't do anything? WaT ends quite shortly after he attacks Hoid, right?
  7. Nale has a history of stealing swords. He stole his Honorblade back from the Shin.
  8. I'm pretty sure Investiture affects the metal itself when it makes the metal completely disappear from the Physical Realm. You know, by burning it?
  9. I was torn, because mentioning it was a DP spoiler would, itself, be a DP spoiler.
  10. Rashek is said to have survived being beheaded, something only seen in a non-canon work SPOILER
  11. The Singers do bond with lesser spren, by hosting the spren in their gemhearts. The benefit they get is their forms, everything from nimblelform to Regal, which grant anything from greater strength (workform) to throwing lightning bolts (stormform).
  12. IIRC the ant wasn't real. It was a Cognitive (Spiritual?) construct.
  13. So you're saying that Hoid knows things he hasn't taught his apprentice?
  14. I feel like correcting myself: atium ferrings (or full feruchemists) who are also atium mistings (or Mistborn) can compound atium.
  15. They certainly know he was part of the Shattering.
  16. Navani is a Bondsmith and a fabrial engineer. She could hack the magic system. But I was kidding.
  17. It'll be interesting when Lift realizes she can give Lifelight to other Radiants, and everyone starts piling food up around her and asking her to please, please fill gemstones so they can do stuff.
  18. I assume they're old-school fabrials, like Soulcaster fabrials. Old-school fabrials have Radiant-level spren voluntarily choosing to become useful tools. (Compare to SPOILER FOR YUMI AND THE NIGHTMARE PAINTER:
  19. Both Scadrians (extra Preservation) and Nalthians (extra Endowment) have more Investiture than humans from other worlds like Roshar or Threnody.
  20. It is widely (or maybe narrowly?) believed that we see some Skybreakers on Scadrial at the end of The Lost Metal. The "coinshots" Steris meets at the end of the book during the Sanderlanche, who specifically ask about whether it would be legal to act and use a power that Skybreakers have, flinging themselves through the air. Brandon sort of half-denied it. https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?query=skybreakers+"the+lost+metal"&date_from=&date_to=2025-10-25&speaker=&ordering=-date#15986
  21. Vasher says that. I don't think he's correct in any useful sense. I am sure Brandon will never finally settle the question, though.
  22. Iron and steel allomancy are not electromagnetism any more than tineyes could possibly hear sounds that are too weak to really be vibrating air. At some point it's the Rule of Cool, as Brandon himself has said.
