    Kane started running, dropping down to Cadenza's side. He looked up to Trace. "Stop! That is an order!"

    Kane turned to Trace, hands still in the air. "What part of leave don't you understand? You completed the mission. Go!"

    He then dropped his rifle, and his exo-skeleton collapsed. "I surrender!"

    Kane's red coat flew off, revealing a metal exo-skeleton. "It's part of my charm!"

    Kane slammed onto the deck, holding a semiautomatic rifle. He turned to Trace. "Consider the test, a quasi-success."

    Electricity leapt from the round, crackling, and spreading out over Trace. Quinn reloaded, preparing to fire again if necessary.

    A sense of urgency entered Kane's voice. "That rifle isn't normal! You need to get out of there now!" Quinn fired.

    Kane's voice became louder. "You need to leave." Quinn smirked. "I'm sorry she feels that way." She drew the rifle into a firing position. "Now get on the ground before I shoot!"

    Kane growled in her ear. "Get the captive, and get out. Now." Quinn stepped out onto the deck, a rifle visible in her hands. "Drop the kid! Now."

      I think it depends on the character. IMO, character accessories should be used to express the character they belong to, either through contrast/comparison or similarity/belonging. For example, Dalinar with Oathbringer compared to Sadeas with Oathbringer: it just doesn't click with Sadeas, and seems kind of not wuite right at times for Dalinar, but perfect for the Blackthorn.

      If you get my drift, that's great. Just a theory :)

    Kane sighed. "Emphasis on the word alive, and preferably not completely maimed, though that's not a requirement. Feel free to get equipment from the armory, and do whatever else you want to do." He paused, then threw her an armband. "Also, wear this, it will help us keep tabs on your location, and help you contact us."

    Kane gave her an amused look. "My men on the ground say otherwise." He looked up, staring off into the distance. "You know what? Bring the traitor alive, I want to kill him myself."

    Kane smiled. "Simple, bring me the traitor's dead body, and one other." He thought a moment, then turned back towards Janice. "Bring the other alive."

    Once again Kane fingered the trigger of his gun warily. "More of a test."

    Kane snorted, still evidently uncomfortable. "I don't want to fight, I was asking you to prove your loyalty."
