  1. The round starts. Team Tempo is known for their quick plays and they do not disappoint in this one. Pace Kallian has a super-speed Aspect that he plans on using to get a number of quick attacks on Lloyd before he can react. Topaz Antipode, is close behind, using his one-of-a-kind aspect to convert our shields that protect the audience into a temporary launcher, sending him at Jay ready for a strike. Jay, seeing Topaz come at him from up above, takes the hit on his staff and uses that force to blast Topaz to the other side of the field.
  2. Was that a rope walking around? Draped in a cloak? Maybe it was some kind of AI machine he didn't understand. He'd like to study it, but humans were touchy, especially about their technologies. So instead he tried to hide himself behind his book on Allomancy.
  3. See, I was right
  4. Just like when we got into a huge argument over whether Fish was really a Fish
  5. "I think you should take speedy boy and I'll take the dude with the broadsword." Jay settles into a combat stance as the match starts.
  6. Alvyer sees a bunch of people walk in the front door and groans inwardly. Yet more humans
  7. Jay turns around and smiles at Lloyd. "Let's give them a show." He walks out onto the field. On the other side Tempo is coming out too
  8. That's why I still have to say it's admirable to stick to those beliefs. Both of them (all the Stormlight characters) have to be given some amount of allowance for what they've been taught and indoctrinated with. Szeth sticks to what he's been taught even though it's really hard. It's not admirable for most of the Alethi and Shallan who just continue the cultural norms that have already been established, but you have to give them some amount of leeway the same as we do Szeth. I think the point of books is that you can see inside someone's head, and since we can, we should use and see the story from everyone's point of view. And maybe my argument is inconsistent, but I'm also arguing this over the course of a few days so forgive me if I forget what I posted last time
  9. I'll admit, while I'm looking forward to the fifth book (Knight of War Torn, is my idea for the title), I'm not looking forward to a whole lot of Szeth. While both can be thought of in a similar way I guess (both just follow what they know rather than trying to find something new), that's a whole different level and really not comparable. I suppose it is admirable to stick to those beliefs like that, but it would have been more admirable to throw it away (not as good of a story though). Personally, I don't think that we should hate on any character. Every character Brandon writes is really well written and deserves some appreciation. Even if you don't like Wayne or Shallan or Lopen (who are the three I hear most about), I think you still have to appreciate how much work Brandon puts into them and how they change the story. Even Moash is a character I really appreciate and yes, I even enjoyed his chapters and character arc. I think the only characters Brandon's written that I didn't like were Hrathen and Sarene, but I still loved the story of Elantris and know it couldn't have gone as well with different characters. It's more fun to like things than to hate things. Just saying
  10. Nakagawa and Kumiega are going at it. While Kumiega would normally be faster than Nakagawa, she's able to absorb the light he would use to lightspeed around, which means he has a severe handicap in this matchup! It's going to come down to whether he has enough skill to overcome her before she can land a hit. Kumiega is swapping to his twin daggers now, better in this close range contest. Nakagawa is hardly giving him a chance to make a mistake though. If she can land enough hits with her staff, it's over! They've been dueling back and forth for almost 30 seconds now, and it looks like Kumiega is going to try something. Is it... oh yes it is, he vaults over Nakagawa's head using a similar move to the one he used to take down Derivan, but he might have a harder time with this one. It looks like Nakagawa instinctively shot a bolt of light at him, which he could use to superspeed away. As he comes out of his lightspeed, he's going to try and get a shot off, but the time it takes for him to drop the daggers and pull out his rifle is long enough for Nakagawa to block his shot and one, two, three hits and he's down! Victory goes to Renegade! Up next is a special round, with outsider Team Joy versus Team Tempo from Cutlass. Because Joy is comprised of two professional Dusters, this will count as a by for Team Tempo in the tournament, but will still be quite a show for all of you!
  11. Vulcane and Nakagawa are dueling, staff to halberd. He's got power, and with his aspect he's creating small earthquakes to keep her off balance. But Nakagawa is blindingly fast, literally, since she fires beams of light at him in between attacks. I think she's got this one in the bag, folks. On the other side of the arena, though, Kumiega might be the first one to take down Derivan. With his Aspect he's just too quick for Derivan to hit, and unlike other competitors, he's also got the power to back it up. Oh, here he goes! With a swing of his rifle he fires down to launch himself into the air as Derivan takes an ill-timed swing downward. He's going to come back down on Derivan's back and oh! There it is, his strike was perfectly placed to pierce Derivan's Veil and he's waved off the field. It's down to Nakagawa and Kumiega now! Jay leaves the room, unaware he's apparently being shipped. He couldn't think of a better name anyway.
  12. "Not since the 42nd Festival when 12 people got injured from a mistossed grenade. Ok, Lloyd, what's our team name? I'll go sign us up."
  13. Vale walks into the Rusty Vial and looks around for signs of the Fellowship, like explosions, shouted conversation, or rips in the space-time-continuum. Seeing none, he sits down at the bar and orders a meal. He hasn't eaten in what feels like weeks. Patch usually can't feel pain, but the story of the dagger is full of what it must be like. He drops it on the floor and tries to get further from it, but is overwhelmed by the psychic onslaught it presents. @xinoehp512
  14. "I mean, I guess we could register for a match. I... there's no reason why we couldn't." "Edgewalker starts off the match with a bang! Escunse Kumiega uses his light-speed aspect to zip behind Renegade before they even knew what was happening, while Carbune Vulcane chooses to support his teammate with more ranged attacks, using the powerful sniper rifle attachment to his halberd. Renegade isn't out of it yet, though. Reina Nakagawa is a force to be reckoned with, since she can absorb the light Kumiega uses for his aspect, and we have yet to see anyone take down Diocanel Derivan without some serious damage. Kumiega is narrowly avoiding his warhammer, and it looks like Nakagawa is gunning for Vulcane now, as she tosses a flashbang grenade to blind him."
  15. "And the Talon doesn't take Dusters prisoner unless they have something they want either. It's a good idea, but it's too risky and may I point out, puts everyone except the supposed Talon deserter directly in harm's way." "Well, folks, sorry about the delay, we had some technical difficulties up in the recording booth, but now we are live from Halcyon Stadium! We just finished a searing match from Faraway and Dawn to start off and send Rapier into the second round! Our next duel will be between Team Edgewalker of Katana and Team Renegade of Falchion!"
  16. "I think we need to move away from explosions, just in general"
  17. "That... sounds like a terrible idea."
  18. Jay looks expectantly at Lloyd. @A Windrunner
  19. "To fight and overcome your problems, I suppose. Obviously you have a past that's left scars. But I don't think that your past has to define you. I know you can become more than that if you want. I think that fighting for something can help you."
  20. Well thank you I'll share my nachos, completely relatable, and the official radiant quiz is always worth a mention. 9/10
