"Yes, si - Fadran. Thank you." Kailer saluted again and left the tent. "Sure, sounds great!" -
"Yes sir. If it's all right with you, I'd also like to reorganise the men into squads, platoons, companies, and so forth."

"Thanks. I know it can be hard to change your habits." She wearily stood up. "So, drills?"

The soldiers began to disperse, finding places to train or gather while they waited. Kailer walked into the command tent and saluted. "Sir, I've found fourteen more ranked officers." So the more I learn about them, the better we'll be able to fight them... or the better they'll be able to fight us? Do I count as one of Wyrn's people now? "So how does it work?" "Yeah, I got one!"

Melody blushed. It was true, she was acting like her mother. "Sorry."

Andante smiled. "Go learn how to blow stuff up, of course! Well - preferably other magic, but blowing stuff up is fine." Herate twisted to see him, somewhat awed. "So you bonded one of these?"

"Sounds good. But for anyone we can, no killing."

The soldiers nodded and started to stand up taller.

"I mean, I'd rather not... but if it's best. Sorry we didn't listen to you earlier, Gerald."

"Oh." Minuet smiled, not sure what else to say.

"So you think the magician is the antagonist? I suppose it's not too implausible, given what we've seen."

In answer, he receives a resounding "No sir!" Kailer jogged back with 14 men in tow. When he didn't see the new general, he took them instead to the command tent.

Because... like... I can't explain it well, but he almost kept going because he's got the thing for both the magician and Melody. "Well, I guess it's probably best to start soon. The sooner the better."

"Thanks," Melody puffed. She sat down on the ground and dropped the sword. "That thing's heavy!"

"Yeah, let's hope." She looked away, feeling kind of guilty. "So, Val, what are you here for?"

"Oh, her? She didn't seem like the type to just willingly give herself up without a good way out, but I guess looks can be deceiving." Andante looked around. "This isn't as many people as I'd imagined." "Thank you, sir. And if I could be excused, I can find another captain, some lieutenants, and some sergeants."

She jumped back, catching her foot on a rock but quickly recovering. By now, she was breathing heavily and arduously.

"What about your group? Can't they do at least some of it? Most of them look quite experienced."
