"I wasn't joining them," he protested, "I just wanted to use their catapult. I've never been launched out of a catapult before. Instead I got a dragon ride."

Cavalier gaped in awe at the display, and shook all the snow off of him. He briefly considered trying to whack an ironclad in the face, but decided against it.

Exodus nods at the man, trusting he would not tell, gently closed the book of prophecies.

The guard gritted his teeth at the way she talked, then pushed his way back into the room and grabbed a hold of Cruz, and yanked him back to the cell, barking orders. Cruz noted the treatment and sat back in his bed, with at least a small hope of what was to come.

"There is only one way to fight off this Great Calamity," said Exodus, "That whoever would save us would take on... great power, a power like unto godhood. I apologize for how I have treated your book, but the time is soon coming. I can't share too much with you for the same reasons, but I feel I can trust you. If any knowledge of this gets out, and falls into wrong hands, then the power will fall into those wrong hands, and we'll be living in a world worse than it has been for millennia, possibly the actual end of our lives as we know them." He brings his voice even quieter. "I know you don't like me, as a destroyer of knowledge. But trust me when I say that there is some knowledge that cannot be widely known, for the protection of the world. And that prophecy has some vague information related to it."
-
Cruz smiled. If it came to that, he would have to give up on the justice system. But for now, he would have to have faith in Ms. Delacroix. "That'd be very preferable, thanks."

Exodus stepped forward until he was closer to the librarian, and whispered, "If I told you, answered you honestly, and then let you live, would you keep quiet?" He was afraid that if he killed the man, it would be too suspicious.

"I thought myself enforcing God's law where he could not," replied Cruz, "And what do you take me for? Of course I went to the local authorities. Unfortunately, when you're tattling on their boss, they don't look into it much."

Exodus hovers a foot into the air and blocks the stone with his arm. "Final chance. Let's just forget this ever happened."

Exodus grunted and an explosion of fire materialized around his hands, shattering the ice to the floor. He stomped his feet, shattering the ice around his feet with a superhuman strength, and Exodus stepped away and swatted the fire from his face. "Don't make me kill you," Exodus chuckled, "I don't want to. I only tore a single page. I can let you go." @Channelknight Fadran

Exodus had anticipated a reaction from the librarian, and had resisted any Harvesting of information, but he hadn't anticipated the floor. He began to slip but attempted to stabilize himself. Owlsons, he cursed, thinking themselves guardians of knowledge. "I know what you are, Owlson," said Exodus, "But I'm afraid that some knowledge is better left forgotten." Exodus brushed back his jacket, and placed a hand casually on a sheathed sword.

Exodus continued scouring the accounts for any more useful information, but most of the information was from accounts after the Great Calamity. He carefully rolled up the scroll again and set it back into its wooden case, then stood up from the table and walked over to where the Wanderer had said the books of prophecies would be. He opened the book and looked through some of the ancient cryptic poems. The thing about prophecies was while they seemed to predict important future events, they were often wrong. And even if they do happen to be right, they were unnecessarily cryptic to the point where one shouldn't bother with the prophecy to begin with. Exodus noticed two prophecies that were cryptic enough to mean nothing to anyone, especially since it was never clear if an ancient prophecy was ever fulfilled or not. And, perhaps a better example: Prophecies were of varying lengths as well. Some were a single sentence: And others were much longer and made no sense. One such prophecy was marked as probably made up rather than an actual prediction. There were those who claimed to be prophets for fame or recognition only, and made up nonsensical prophecies, like: But one prophecy was of particular note to Exodus, one that was noted as likely already fulfilled. But Exodus knew better. He carefully committed the prophecy to memory. Once he was certain he had the prophecy in his memory, he ripped the page out of the book and held it up in the air with his right hand, victorious. He willed the paper in his hands to burst into flames, and instantly it did so and crumbled to ash. Exodus closed the book and begin to march out of the tower.
