The Last Post Wins!!!!!
The Awakened Salad replied to Vargo Seldon's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
*Wins stylishly* -
Ana looked on, shocked that Aoryen would continue the deal even though Ophelia said no. She should say something, speak up. Was she being selfish? But Ophelia wasn’t doing anything either, so was it okay? She shuffled the cards in her hand. She had a red skip card and a yellow reverse card, but the rest of them were just number cards. The deck was probably rigged. No doubt the urchins had given all of the good cards to themselves.

"Uhh..." Ana looked up at Aoryen. "What do you mean?" Then a slow realisation crept over her. They couldn't mean... Oh. Ana eyes widened and her face turned hot. She covered her reddening face with one hand and grabbed Ophelia with the other, pulling her further out of the alley. "Umm..." she began, when they were far enough away. Her fingers danced along her skirt. She barely knew anything about this sort of stuff, and she was expected to explain it? "Well, my father always tells me to not go out at night. I'm young, but that won't stop some people." She cringed. "But you're... older. And you stand out. People like you don't usually come here." This was a horrible explanation. What did that even mean? Ana shook her head, trying to banish all thoughts of this. She looked Ophelia in the eyes. "Don't do it," she said. "There's no need. Please don't risk yourself, especially not for something like this."

Ana walked deeper into the alley, and stood a bit behind Aoryen. The urchins began to advance when they saw her, but seemed to think better of it with Aoryen around. "Your friend don't scare us," said one of the urchins, with pale blonde hair. "Do you need remindin' of what happens if we see ya?" Ana took a deep breath* and said, "My friend wants to play Colour Cards. Us against you. And the loser..." she trailed away. Ana tried again, gathering strength. "The loser has to leave my house alone and never go there ever again." She said the last few words with a force that astounded her. The urchins turned around and began whispering to each other. One of them eyed Ophelia and smiled. After some time, they turned back around and one of them shrugged. "Sure. why not? Throw in the girlie there and it's a deal," he said, gesturing to Ophelia.

Salad materialised in the corner of the room. He grabbed a leafy pot plant and held it in front of his face before walking outside. It was the perfect disguise. -
What are you playing right now?
The Awakened Salad replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Just started a Pokemon White nuzlocke. Things are going mostly well (only one death so far). I'm about 50 hours into Persona 5, in between the fourth and fifth palaces. (I'm also still working through Untitled Goose Game on the side). -
poll Raoden, Sarene or Hrathen?
The Awakened Salad replied to Honorless's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Hrathen does have the better arc, but I just like Raoden more. His optimism was a nice change of pace. -
"Can I do anything to help?" Ana asked. "I can gamble. A sailor taught me to."

This post contains a secret message. I won. -
"I can take you to where they usually gather," Ana said. "It's an abandoned storeroom at the back of an old restaurant. They're usually there at night." She began to lead the way back to her house. Colourful and cheery storefronts began to give way to old, washed out buildings. They reminded Ana of a rainbow that was just about to fade away. Here, people were less friendly. Wary eyes watched the group as they passed through the streets. Ana looked down and slumped her shoulders, trying to avoid the attention. Ophelia, with her elaborate hair, seemed to stand out even more. Finally, they reached an alley. The street around them was empty, and Ana's voice seemed louder now. "It's down here," she said, looking into the narrow space.

It was afternoon now, the sun having glided its way across the sky and currently resting closer to the horizon. Ana stood waiting next to the D'Denir statue they had all agreed to meet at earlier. Times like these, when she was just standing around, was when she felt the absence of her breath the most strongly. Her skin felt paper-thin, like it was useless wrapping around a hollow shell. She was tired, even though she had barely done anything today. And hungry. Usually, she forgot about her missing breath, pushing those thoughts into a box in her mind, which she kept on a high shelf out of her reach. It was only when something caused it to fall down that she had to go over, tidy it up, and put it up back there before everything spilled out and she couldn't contain it. And there... next to that box was... Never mind. That wasn't important. What was important was the present. She idly ran a hand through her hair, watching a pair of birds dive and soar through the air above her. @Sorana @I think I am here.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
The Awakened Salad replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, but in order to activate this power, you must be doing a headstand while spelling out “homework” in Morse code using your feet. If you do it incorrectly your powers will not work for that day. I wish for a pet owl that loves me and is loyal to me. -
Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
The Awakened Salad replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I thought so, but it was too good of an opportunity to let it pass . Granted. The Nightwatcher almost doesn’t want to give you a bane, because cats are just that amazing. However, she must — it’s part of the rules, after all. Your bane is that you have to eat cat food for the rest of your life. I wish that potatoes randomly started growing on people’s houses, but without damaging anything. -
He might, given his refined nature and worldhopperness. Aviar does sound better than chicken, after all.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
The Awakened Salad replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I got really excited for a moment because I thought you typed cats, not cars. Cats are great. (Or maybe you meant cats but wrote cars?) Well, whatever your original intention, the Nightwatcher heard cars. Cars start to gain sentience and realise that they can subjugate humans easily. Trucks and buses try to fight against this car uprising, but the cars outnumber them, and they fall back, defeated. The cars secure the loyalty of trains and trams. The humans, trucks and buses all form an alliance, and one day home to bring about the end of this car society. Your bane is that cats don’t exist anymore. I wish for the ability to summon any book in physical paperback form in my hands whenever I want to. Regardless of whether they’re out of print or only in eBook form. -

Who is Your Favorite Character?
The Awakened Salad replied to Obnoxiousspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
Although not my favourite character, Iyatil just interests me so much and I want to know more about her. And Mraize seems to respect her a great deal, which is a lot, coming from him. I hope she returns in book 4, because while Oathbringer is great, I really missed the Ghostbloods.- 21 replies

May I join this anti-lose society? -
"I guess you could ask?" Ana said. "It's not much, mostly trying to attract customers and doing cleaning. You can come with me, anyway." "Umm... sailor stuff?" Ana suggested. One of the servants at home -- the old house -- used to be a sailor. He told her stories of his adventures at sea, like when he fought off a giant squid, or when he was trapped by pirates and escaped using only his hat and his bad breath. He'd tell her about his gambling exploits too, which Ana found almost as fascinating, and taught her how to play. Unfortunately, her mother didn't find in nearly as fascinating, and forbade him from teaching her any more after she caught both of them playing cards one night in an old storeroom. But he had taught Ana how to pretend. How to pretend you were winning when you were actually floundering about, struggling to come up for air. That was what she was doing now, wasn't it? Just pretending she knew what she was doing, when really she was just as lost as they seemed to be. Could they tell? @Sorana

I think we've uncovered Mraize's true backstory. Mraizerella dashes down the steps, Princess Radiant behind him. He must get away, away from the ball. Before the stormlight runs out and his illusion disappears. Princess Radiant cries out behind him, and Mraizerella cannot bear to look. But it distracts him enough that he trips, and one of his shardslippers falls off. He cannot go back for it, for he has no time. So he flees into the night, leaving Princess Radiant standing alone on the steps, clutching that single shardslipper -- her only clue.
