“Don’t you see them?” The girl’s eyes were wide with panic. An arm began to reach for her, smoky black tendrils curling off of it like steam.

Wow, that’s interesting. What gender was I? Do you remember what I was wearing?

It’s a very important distinction, after all. Do you remember how I looked in the dream? I’m curious.

When you log into the Shard after a period of inactivity:

It was your entire current picture, like a 2D disc, attached to your neck. (I don’t think anyone actually had a proper face or a 3D head ) I can’t remember what you were wearing, except I think you might’ve had a scarf. Luna was in an apron, Xino was wearing a grey suit, Truthless and Nath were wearing some sort of worker uniform I think, and I have no clue what Ene and Emi were wearing.

So this was more about the Shard, but it was still an odd dream. One of the first dreams I’ve actually remembered in a while. I was standing outside a building called “The Longest Thread Office.” I went inside and @xinoehp512 was sitting behind a desk. He directed me to these double doors and opened them, and @AonEne greeted me, before pushing me down a rainbow. I reached the bottom and @Emi threw a stick at me and told me we had to fight the mimes. I asked her where the mimes were coming from and she told me that “The Last Post Wins Office” was sending them. We kept fighting for a while, and then the scene changed (do dreams have scenes?) and I was standing in an office in a line. @Truthless of Shinovar and @Nathrangkingwere standing next to me, and I asked them what was happening, but they just kept on replying with “*wins*”. The doors opened, and @Lunamor and @R J entered the office. They told us that the Mistborn movie was short on actors so we were the replacements. I was assigned the role of an inquisitor, and was given some pieces of paper to tape over my eyes, as my spikes. Then R J turned to me and said “you’re a salad! You can’t be an inquisitor!”, so I threw some lettuce at him, which somehow proved that I could be an inquisitor. Then the dream shifted into other, non-shard, non-cosmere stuff. (to everyone who was mentioned, you all looked like regular humans except your heads were replaced with your profile pictures)

And then snapped back into it again.

The girl blinked, looking around. It was night, and the sky was pitch black. They seemed to be standing in the middle of an empty street, and lining the sides were vague shadowy outlines. A small circle of light from Emi’s blade illuminated the pair. A scratching, rasping noise began emanating from the darkness. The girl shrieked and shuffled closer to Emi. The whispers grew louder, forming discernible words. PreyBreakSlashEatPreyBreakSlashEatEatEatEat The darkness crept closer, twisted arms and grotesque faces emerging from the inky mass.

“Wha... where have you taken us?”

I didn’t come up with this, but I think about it from time to time. When you look at something, you can tell exactly what it would be like to lick it. And now I have passed on the curse

The girl was frozen, staring up in horror at the beast that had just crashed through the roof. She hadn’t thought it possible for the building to become any more of a ruin, but apparently she was wrong. The entire wall had crumbled away, and the dragon sat in its place. A cold sweat began crawling over her. “There isn’t any food here. At least, I don’t believe there is.” Her eyes darted between Emi and the massive dragon. “I don’t suppose you can conjure up something with your powers?”

A sudden screech pierced the air. The girl’s head snapped to face the source of the noise. A wall blocked her vision, but she could hear wingbeats, and they were growing louder. She let go of Emi’s hand and scrambled down the rubble, peeking out of a gap in the wall. “Can you fight?”

It was comprised of five acts, with three spontaneous musical numbers and a section where all of the actors spoke in backwards Elvish.

I’m not sure what you mean by this. Brandon said above in his post that he wanted more to include more female soldiers, which is what Ham is, and that Scadrial’s gender norms aren’t the same as ours. I don’t see why there wouldn’t be non-allomancer female soldiers.

I really like this change. In the original, Shan always came across as quite one-dimensional, and seemed to exist mainly to be a foil to Vin. I hope in this version she becomes more fleshed out and her motivations are explored further. It also might make her relationship with Elend more interesting. Ham and Dockson as women also sounds pretty cool. I wonder if they’ll end up being mother figures to Vin.
