    "Very well." The old man concentrated for a few seconds, and then the wound started mending itself. The split bone became one again, and any remaining bacteria died at the healer's touch. The wound didn't close, however, though it did become significantly less nasty-looking. "Hmm... like I said, I don't have much magic left in these things. If you clean that every few hours or so, you'll keep the wound from becoming infected again, and it should heal itself in... say, a week?"
