    Elya woke up in pain. It only held her for a moment; she regained composure as soon as she returned to her senses. Pressing a finger to her face, Elya scratched away dried blood. Right; she'd gotten shot there. At the very least she hadn't been stabbed last night. Maybe these people were more trustworthy than she'd expected.

    The base was a cave in the mountainside, its entrance concealed a little ways in. Fadran could spot the guards in the shadows: they were watching them, all right. He made it clear that he knew they were, making sure his weapons were in clear view. "All of you stay here." Fadran said, gesturing for them to wait.     If you could maybe draw away their attention, devise a quick way out, make sure the portal's unguarded, and make sure everyone else is ready to go, then that'd be great. They called him "Fireeyes" for a reason.
