The presmise: we are all world leaders of our own respective realms, and seek to grow in power and influence throughout the world. We can invade other countries, research new technologies, form treaties, etc.... only there's a twist:
The outcomes of all our actions are determined by AI.
(TL;DR I watched this video and wanted to do the exact same thing).
For the folks who are interested, create yourself a nation! Elaborate on its culture/history/etc as much as you like, though please give a decent one-paragraph-ish summary so I don't have to feed your extensive histories to the AI. And if you can't think of anything to spice up your country enough, feel free to plug it into the AI early so that it can develop your history and culture for you. Once we've got a decent roster I'll create a map of the world, and then we can start kicking things off.
How it'll go:
While creating your country, determine its whereabouts and primary resource. You can develop more resources as you go along, but we'll all start with one.
First we'll figure out a turn order that each of us take our actions in. I don't think I should have to explain this.
On your turn, you can take an action, which can effectively be anything within reason. It could be anything from "I invade Fadranosia" to "I attempt to marry into the Fadranian Royal Family to secure a peace treaty" to "I research the art of witchcraft under the Fadrinians' noses." Obviously don't do anything riduculous like "I attempt become God and destroy everyone," or anything else that would trick the AI into allowing you to win the entire game in just a single turn. Use your brain.
We'll try to keep a timeline of all the stuff that happens and advance through the ages of society as it goes. If we're lucky, the game will keep going up until the invention of new technologies; perhaps even to creating colonies on other planets. It's also possible that the AI would be incapable of maintaining a steady narrative for that, in which case we'd probably restart every once in awhile with new kingdoms and nations to keep things interesting.
I'll be the one inputting what you say into the AI, and keep it running until it comes to a decent conclusion to your input. I'll make sure that it doesn't go very off-track, determine where it stops, and present an additional edited version of the text into the game to keep things concise. In the event that the story half-concludes, half-opens (that is to say, sets up another story point as it resolves the first), I'll give you the option to "push" the AI and keep going. This could potentially get you an extra gain in just one turn... or it could throw your win into the gutter and destroy your entire army. Gambling! Lots of fun.
The AI isn't super great at keeping track of things, so it'll be up to us to maintain overall continuity. For example. if your army gets completely wiped whilst invading Fadranosia, you won't be allowed to input any more invasions for a few turns, and we might decide to veto anything the AI says about your army outnumbering someone else's or anything like that.
In the meantime, please elaborate on the things that happen! It wouldn't be a true half-RP without crazy, over-the-top narrative descriptions of the Battle of Fadranosia. Perhaps the AI generates a romance between two monarchs: do feel free to write it out! Perhaps it creates a brand-new situation for all of us: react to it in proper form!
Overall, though, it'll just go like absolute chaos.
Here is the map:
The turn order will be as follows:
Bookwyrm, as the Republic of Astrym
Nameless, as the Kingdom of Nam-Ed
Matrim, as the Kingdom of Dalrya
Unknown Novel, as Eshael Navar
S.S., as Lynara
W.W., as the Wrizrecan Empire
Sequence, as Serenitas
Yours truly, as the Gahestian Empire
Enter, as Not-Luxembourg
Corvus, as the Commune of Vandora
Aarakocra, as Realmingsburg
(New!) Shining Silhouette, as Psmithania
(New!) Tani, as Siel
After each round we will reconvene to chronicle our happenings and make sure we're all on the same page as to the continent's overall situation.
