Ah, didn't survive the transfer I see
-
Yes, why wouldn't we? It happens rarely because we rarely have both something to say and a meme to share but it happens
-
No double post please. (good meme tho)

Roshar as a case study for space age cosmere.
mathiau replied to Lunu’anaki's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Ah yes, that's indeed an issue I was asking about the language not the magic, if Aona made the Aons there no reason for her to to inspire herself from the landscape (also, your WoB is about whether the land is the Dor's Vessel not why the landscape changing affect the Aons) -
[Theory] Taln Wasn't the Herald Who Broke; It Was Chanarach
mathiau replied to teknopathetic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If Taln had broken and that had caused the Desolation he wouldn't be late. Of course he could have broken after the Desolation started but that'd be very weird if he broke short after him breaking was not needed, so I think he didn't break. In Row it's made clear there is a body and the eyes burned out Your right, Shallan killed her mother the same month Szeth killed Galinar (Tanat 1167) which is a few months after Ulim first appeared -
Thanks you *me thinking about all the one-liners in Forged Iron* @More Cynical Than Funny @mathiau @Emi

Roshar as a case study for space age cosmere.
mathiau replied to Lunu’anaki's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Why would Elantris's existence before the Splitering mean AonDor existed before the Splintering too? And why would we think Aons didn't exists before the Splintering? We know the Seons didn't but it'd be weird if they were the first instance of Aons. With our current understanding of the Dor it's perfectly possible a proto version the Elantrians existed without the AonDor/with powers that didn't work the same way at all It's also possible Elantris was not originally a functioning Aon but just five cities shaped in a Aon Rao way and some Elantrians made it in the Shaod amplifier it is today Why would they have arrived millennia after Odium? -

(The link doesn't link to anything) I don't see any issue, it just means Aona created Elantris for some reason, probably to protect the people of Arelon -
The fact that the Well of Ascension emitted a Rhythm seems to confirm that

I don't see what you mean, the cubes just delay the pushes it won't solve the manpower issue
-
I had misunderstood what you wanted to do, you're right Savantism wouldn't work for what you want to do

"I'm not sure that's possible, it'd mean you're leaving out either major a part of Ruin or of Preservation and... I think some Shards did think similar but not on the scale required to change the ratio by even one ten-thousandth."

"Er... you're saying Harmony, the fusion of Ruin and Preservation, could change and become... What, a different fusion of Ruin and Preservation? That doesn't make sense, if you alloy two metals in the same proportion you always get the same thing"

[Theory] Taln Wasn't the Herald Who Broke; It Was Chanarach
mathiau replied to teknopathetic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I had completely forgotten about that, there's indeed no reason for Cultivation to lie on that one The simple answer doesn't explain why Taln (and Hoid) thinks he's late Shardblades kills Fused and Fused don't fear death -
Not if that necessitate abandoning her people He really couldn't. (Also the Fused's top scientist is probably El, not Raboniel)

I could see him do that^^

If you use the distance increaser Navani discovered in RoW then yes, you should be able to do that, otherwise your waves won't be transferred due to the damping by distance
-
Well, this just became terrifingly plausible.
mathiau replied to Frustration's topic in Stormlight Archive
I absolutely didn't mean it in a Kadeshwi way^^ I just wanted to continue on the 'would Kal still have powers and how' question. Honestly Kal bounding Leshwi would probably means the Listener's way have failed which I hope won't happen. -
Navani definitely won't do that. If Dalinar loses Alethkar doesn't really exists anymore so she might abdicate and leave offworld with Adolin and Shallan

Didn't mean accept in a 'I know it will happen' way, I meant becoming fine with it
-
That does make sense, I still think your version of 'the feast I must drink' is weirder than mine, but your interpretation is possible. Though if that Death Rattle is indeed about Dalinar's 3rd Oath then "friends before" is about Venli and not Amaram. Odium is not the End of All, Ruin is. (Odium still works as a final Void though)
-
That would require insane amounts of manpower to get anywhere near the output of real-life power plants If that was true Arithmetic wouldn't have been studied before Cryptography made it useful, and yet it was.
-
He probably ended up accepting language changed with time after a century or two

On one hand On the other hand The Surges that are not Honour's and Cultivation's true Surge are obviously the balance magic between H and C but what is the balance system between H and O and between C and O? I think the pure Surges are changing to become Honour-Odium and Cultivation-Odium hybrids, this would explain the atium-like effect Kaladin showed in WoR and Ishar in RoW, it would also explain how that have happened: (Oathbringer, epigraph of chapter 84) Glys and Renarin are something new, Voidbinding Radiants didn't exists at the time that emerald was recorded, and yet we already had a Radiant able to use Foresight. (Before you answer that Illumination makes no sense as Cultivation's pure Surge, remember we have no proof Foresight is not a part of V-Progression or a V-Illumination V-Progression hybrid that could also be obtained as a S-Illumination V-Progression hybrid)
