theory Some Notes on the Recreance [Discuss]
mathiau replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well the Gemstones archive can only be accesed by radiants so... How about just "there was a small amount of time between BAM getting trapped and the Recreance"? The fact the archive mention both the operation to trap BAM and the tower being abandoned seems to imply there was. -
Another Dawnshard to Shard of Adonalsium thread
mathiau replied to SwordNimiForPresident's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Firstly, I love your pseudo I'll have to say it everytime, won't I? The will of God for thing not to change cannot be a part of God's order to thing to change, that's simply absurd Yes but why did you put Valour here instead of Mercy? I have a bad news about that I think she's more about giving pieces to other so they figure out how to work toward the whole, not that it'd change her Dawnshard I don't remember her doing it, I remember her saying that Cultivation was nature and adding Honour to it made science which is the opposite of what you're saying Even if he was I also don't see why that'd be enough to kick Honour out of the Rule Dawnshard Ambition is about becoming greater, there's nothing about bounds with her. And while Honour is about bounds, there's nothing in him that forbid the zone you're bound in to be infinite (think to half-lines) That'd be the Dawnshard from the Poem of Ista I assume? A bit weird to have none of Roshar's Shards in it Of conquest actually, still a Rule Dawnshard of course. From what little we've seen of Autonomy's aspects, this doesn't to really be what she is Or just the power to help them I don't see why that'd be a Rule Shard, yes a king can be Cruel but he can also be devoted, honourous or valorous Have I missed something or do none of these Dawnshards work as Hoid's one? Ruin is not destruction, he's Irreversibility -
I think you're misunderstanding the theory, it's not about Urithiru being a space station but about Urithiru becoming a space station
-
And why do you think that?
-
I think that's their theory, not their evidence

How do the Sleepless have future sight?
mathiau replied to i’m in the details's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think they have any kind of prophecies, I think they're just plain wrong Because everyone and their axehound know these three are important I don't see how this is an argument, Rysn literally got there by an unpredictable accident -
Arguments?

Any mention as to which planet the original humans came from?
mathiau replied to _Captain's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That is likely, though I like to think some humans fled to Ashyn from Sel when Dev and Dom died, if only for the irony of it. Of course your argument also applies to @Child of Hodor's argument for the Iri being the original Elantrians -

mathiau replied to _Captain's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Ashynites words have a connection to Sel, the similarity between Shalash and Shao-Ala-Ashe (transformation, beauty and light) is confirmed not to be a coincidence -
Division would be Ruin's Surge, not Odium's. Odium's Surge would be about emotions and contests, not about separating things

There's not really a Surge more suited to Odium's intent than the others, and currently Surges are of C&H anyway

Are cognetive shadows not the only type? [cosmere] [discuss]
mathiau replied to something's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Welcome the the Shard That's an interesting connection. Lera said the Ire was made of people who died but did not, he also said it was different from what Kelsier had done though I think the difference is Elantrians have a body while Kelsier is basically a Spren Of course that add the issue that we've seen Elantrians out of Sel but since we've also seen Seons I don't think it's that much of an issue, and Devotion being the goddess of Love it'd make sense for her gifts to have less strings attached than averaged (but probaly still more than Endowment's gifts) There are two in world hypothesis on the nature of CSs (and Brandon won't ever tell us which one is true) which are "it's an imprint of when the mind left" (Vasher's theory) and "it's the mind and the soul of the person" (Kelsier's theory) Returned are explicitly CSs For the Spren vs Body question obviously Returned and Herald are in the body category while Shades are in the Spren one, I would say Fused are in the Spren category as they need another person's body to go in the physical (and as I said a bit before Elantrian would be in the body category if they are indeed CSs)- 10 replies

Nothing was promised in the case of a draw (the didn't even seem to consider it as a possibility) so I don't see why anything would happen if there's a draw Yeah, if it's a child Dalinar will kill them, in tear but he'll do it
-
Dalinar never promised Odium would be free if there was a draw
-
That would not release Taravangian, the things done by Honour would still be there
-
I don't see why that matter. Odium and Dalinar have to follow both the words and the spirit of the contract, and the spirit of the contract say to use actual warriors that were not tricked into fighting this duel Yes. Not that grasping concept is enough to qualify as a willing champion They can definitely check on more than one part of the tower at once (the Sibling is a "they" by the way) I'm not sure even Kaladin would be allowed to do that I'm saying it's impossible Anyway, a question we should have asked ourselves far earlier, what purpose would sending Gavinor fight fulfil for Todium? It might force a draw (remember that Todium can't know whether Dalinar would kill Gavinor to save the world or not) but a draw is not what Todium wants, he wants to win. He will probably send a champion that would be able to force a draw instead of letting Dalinar win, but he will definitely send a champion that has a chance of winning.
-
Even the Blackthorn sometime spared children, and the current Dalinar hates war, he would not accept using a 5 years in a war He can't understand because he's underage. No, they just can't She won't need to evesdrop she'll closer to Gavinor that the hypothetical spy cause if she was not she'd not be able to help against would-be assassins He is Omnipresent in the tower because he is the tower. Now is he omniscient? Maybe not but definitely more than before bounding Navani Same, as you can probably tell She's basically a substitute mom, that's how medival nurse worked. There's no way she's going far enough from Gav that she can't hear what's happening
-
They sense everything, but do they understand everything? Probably
-
Ok, the "born" line of Gavinor page had a mistake then. I fixed it I'm calm, just annoyed He's a good person Reread what I said you're not answering to what I actually said And how about answering the question that was actually asked? Why did you say he didn't care That's a lot of work for something that's not even that much in Taravangian's favour. Taravangian would largely prefer a win to a draw Odium could have spies in the tower, Iri people saying they fled from Odium for example. They'd probably not be able to reach Gavinor though Gavinor will never be left practically alone he's the heir to a storming kingdom Before using that kind of argument you have to prove that someone can Of that list that's the only one who might not notice But she will listen Is this a storming joke? If you made something to stop the Sibling to sense a zone -especially one where Gavinor is- he will notice it and send people investigate
-
3 years old according to the Coopermind. A three years old wouldn't understand how that's supposed to make Dalinar the killer and not Moash. If Odium calls Kal as his champion Dalinar win because Kal would suicide himself. OH. MY. GOD. This was a rusting analogy, actual age of consent have nothing to do with the current discussion. ?
-
And he does that how? He's the one who added the "will champion" clause
-
This is exactly the scenario I claimed was impossible, Do you have any example that are not basically "two persons under 18" or "one was 16 the other 19"? And? Being a champion in a battle for the sake of Roshar is not fine. Also how would Odium put Gavinor as he's champion without tricking him? First they send them people the age of near battle and not at battles. Seconds, laws don't matter. Taravangian and Dalinar do. If Dalinar consider Odium's champion too young to be a champion (which he will if it's a three years old kid) then it's not a valid champion.
-
That's an unusual use of that word, I think I understand what you meant but I'm not 100% sure Anyway, since just calling each other theory dumb is not exactly constructive, here's an argument A child cannot be considered a willing champion, just as a child can't give consent for sex
-
For some reason I had understood Tanavast in your previous post and was very confused. Thaidakar is definitely using the word avatar differently than Odium or "I can't say for sure if they are doing so now or not." In 2020 This is proof Kal is (currently) not an Avatar of anyone, at least not in the same sense as Bavadin's avatars
