  1. The old man shrugged, leaning heavily on his staff. "Seems to me that someone else must have interfered. Didn't see any tigers last time I was here." The eyeless woman stood swiftly, snatching up her other axe and swinging it towards the arm Shoe had used to steal her weapon.
  2. The man shook his head. "Doesn't sound like she's gotten involved yet." The stone escalator reached the top of the stairs, and he stepped off, walking steadily towards the room where everyone fought.
  3. The man did not turn, but Nogard felt a great number of furry things brushing against his legs. The woman also did nothing.
  4. Inside there was a large oval room, walls covered in intricate murals. In the center of the room there was a woman whose eyes were empty sockets, sitting down with a pair of axes lying on the ground in front of her. She didn’t look up at Woe’s entry.
  5. The old man walked to the base of the stairs, then tapped his staff against the stones beneath his feet. They rumbled, then began shifting, carrying him steadily up the stairs.
  6. The old man knocked on the stones at the base of the tower with his staff. “Where else? Right in front of us. Just ask them to move.”
  7. “Is there a reason we can’t just walk in the front door?”
  8. The old man grumbled something under his breath, pounding his walking stick into the ground angrily. “Making me go on a quest to get my rabbit bridge repaired? After you lot broke it? Got nerve at least.”
  9. An old man appeared behind Woe creepily. ”what did you young fools do to my bridge?”
  10. Another Narrator watched the group of heroes from the shadows, trying to quell the bone-chilling fear welling up in her soul. The fear had nothing to do with the quest of course. It had everything to do with the fact that at any time, Subversion could pop out of existence without so much as a whisper. Or at least it felt like that. but still, Subversion watched from the shadows. It was kinda her thing. Perhaps she’d even interfere with the quest, to help or to harm, whichever she felt more like doing.
  11. But …. claimed to be better, and last time they’d fought, he’d cheated to win.
  12. ….! The most terrible and powerful fighter in the city!
  13. A thought entered his head. Perhaps he should give the pineapples the semblance of a chance. If they thought him unbeatable, then they’d never fight him.
  14. Suddenly, ! … The fabric of TLT shook. This was impossible. Surely fruits that were practically the mascot of TLT would not run in fear of a mere mortal and his Plan.
  15. Suddenly, ! … …… ……… Wait, something’s wrong.
  16. This resulted in the death of many scorewatchers, who relied on high scores for sustenance.
  17. “Never! To surrender would shame my esteemed master.”
  18. “Alrighty everyone!” The adventurer turns around and waves at the group, coming to a halt in the center of a clearing. “Looks like we’re here! Which is to say, we’re at the center of the sword’s influence. I’d expected to see the evil guys here, but maybe they’re hiding. Regardless, this close to the puncture point, we should be able to track them to whatever evil layer they’re hiding at. Does anyone happen to have tracking abilities?” @Scars of Hathsin @Ancient Elantrian @Spark of Hope@SourCandyLime@Vyzkel Willbender@J. Magi@RoyalBeeMage@sorryifthere’sanyoneimissed
  19. “Alright then. In that case, you leave me no choice but to unleash my secret weapon.” Mim swings his stumps in a somewhat-cool looking way, then gasps and points one of them at something behind Nerdy. ”Oh storms, what is that?”
  20. The adventurer nods appreciatively. “So you’re an experienced traveler? Good to have you on the team. Where do you hail from originally?”
  21. "Great! I'll keep it then. Been looking for a weapon like that for a while." The adventurer shrugs in answer to Arranis's question. "Depends. Seems like a lot of the plants we've been passing are drawing on the latent magic to fuel growth and their weirdness, but I don't think I could do something similar without danger, particularly considering the effect that sword is having. Maybe you could learn more from those monsters that have been tracking us for a bit." "Oh, of course you can join. As long as you're fine with me claiming the sword once we're done."
