  1. Him the Scourer of Universes awoke from his long slumber. "My my," he murmured to himself. "These Narrators surely have made a mess of things whilst I slept." Cleansing TLT would be an extremely difficult task this time, he could see. But Him had the tools for the job, and he wasn't afraid to use them.
  2. Indeed. Someday somebody will need an insane trial, and Omen will know just who to call.
  3. I wouldn’t say he’s suppressing it so much as he’s had experience being insane. And to be fair, Meat is the only candidate so far.
  4. “Very well. I shall cal you when I have need.” Omen nodded again. “Excellent job on the trial, I must say. You’re the best candidate I’ve interviewed so far.” Moni ducked to the side. “Just give it up before they kill you!” Palsu charged the Shade from the side, swinging his sword for its head.
  5. The brave adventurer fades away into mist. Back in the wider world of dreams, Omen nods approvingly. “Excellent. When did you say you were available?”
  6. Moni grabbed the Shade and flipped it over her head, slamming it into the ground. At the same time, a pulse of decaying energy shot out from Endings, attempting to decay the Shade’s weapons.
  7. "For this we need a quest, to procure for insanity a true test!" The brave adventurer brandishes the feather duster. "Well my buster, you'd best be prepared for a muster. I shall summon my greatest weapon, the might undefeatable Bugle Beast toenail coupon!" "Do as you see fit." Omen replies ambivalently. "I shall give feedback after you have completed this trial." Moni drew Endings and, in a fluid motion, sliced the tip of the shade's spear cleanly off.
  8. The brave adventurer blinks. Then he sighs, closes his eyes, and reaches deep within. He searches the depths of his consciousness, looking for a spark that had laid dormant ever since he gave up his powers. Searching for... there. He opened his eyes, the spark of insanity blazing within them. "Einstein's sugar gum? Here, take it!" He throws a barrel full of bacon at the parrot-man, then does a backflip. "We don't need it. The secret to insanity lies in the toenails of the great Bugle Beast." He reached down without looking, pulling a feather duster from the floor. "I have a map." "I'm fully aware of how they work. I once worked as one, shortly after coming back to life." Unintelligible sighed. "Long story. Anyways, you have nothing to fear from Sequence. She's not trying to lure you into a trap."
  9. The brave adventurer draws his sword. “Evidence? Evidence of my resolve?” “Take us to your leader, probably.” Unintelligible gestures to Sequence. “I believe she wants to have a tea party with him.”
  10. “My memory.” Subversion snapped. “The memory of a Narrator. And not just memory. I can see it in the history of the Thread. These people existed. Perhaps something has changed that, but they did exist!”
  11. He has dwelled in the World of Dreams for some time now. The brave adventurer glances backwards to see if the wall has vanished. "Are you part of the trial?" He queries the man-parrot. "Must I defeat you to gain access to the Dreamsmith?" "Ah." Moni's fingers relaxed on the hilt and her breathing slowed. "Let us go." Her voice was calmer than before, though still tense. "You will die if you continue trying to capture us." "I believe the Author of the Machination is @Dragonheir." Unintelligible said. "Although it will still pay to be careful. The Machination is, of course, very dangerous." "Moni has met him! Nameless probably met him too! And Nameless definitely met that teacher person. I've inherited most of his memories, so I should know." "I... see." Malevolence considered the wind's offer for a time, stroking his chin in thought. "I think... I think that I shall decline your kind offer. Heroes will be working to stop me." He grinned evilly at the wind. "And if I know anything about heroes, it is this: In their attempts to stop me, they will give me exactly the opportunity that I need." @SpiritOfWrath I think you might have missed this post from Xinoeph.
  12. The brave adventurer walks up to the wall and presses a hand on it. He debates whether to call out, and decides against it. Then, a sudden instinct guiding him, he spins around quickly to look behind him. Moni spoke quietly again. “What are you going to do with us?” Her breathing was rapid and her knuckles were white upon Ending’s hilt.
  13. The brave adventurer moves through the room cautiously. He doesn’t touch any of the objects on the floor. “I had my personality Narrated once.” Someone chimed in. “It was awful.”
  14. “All right.” The brave adventurer grabs Meat’s nose.
  15. "Is this... part of my test?" The brave adventurer looks confused.
  16. The brave adventurer steels himself. "I'm ready." "How about the Machination?" Unintelligible carefully avoids looking at Aelinor. "They don't seem to be a single person, but perhaps we could meet with some of their members. Safer than Desolation." Subversion grabbed his arm. "Stop! Don't erase her memories. Her brother is real!" Surprise crossed Malevolence's face. "My fate? You mean you'll alter my future in exchange for helping me? Make it worse, somehow?"
  17. The brave adventurer stared at Meat with a mixture of confusion and horror. “Take your… nose?”
  18. Omen grabs Meat's foot, and fog envelops both of them. Meat appears in front of a nervous-looking man holding a sword. Omen's voice echoes to him. "This is the volunteer, the brave adventurer. Test him as you would any who seek the Dreamsmith."
  19. "Um, I guess we can move on to one of the other threats to the thread. Not sure who's available actually. One of them died, and Desolation's still, you know, very dangerous."
  20. Moni's mouth moved slowly. "What," she managed to force out, "are you going to do to us?" Omen nodded. "Very well. Let us see how skilled you are at trial-giving. If you would take my hand, I have procured a test subject." He extended a foggy hand to Meat.
  21. Omen watches this all impassively. "Do you have any prior experience in trial-giving?" Moni stared at the spears in horror, freezing in place. Palsu drew his sword, looking all around them wildly. "Perseus!" He shouted. "What did you do to him you monsters?"
  22. Balitan sends a message to Rebus. "Busy right now. Show up in a bit." Omen formed from the shadows in front of this applicant. "What is your name?" -- Moni looked up, and spoke in a somewhat hoarse voice. "I think we're close to where we need to be. Perseus, you said that there was some form of a resistance?" @TwinStorm @Dragonheir @LessName
  23. Rebus sensed Balitan's presence only faintly. He did not seem to want to appear. Subversion groaned petulantly. "Can't we just fade out, then fade back in when it's time for the class? I can't stand all this waiting around." "That depends," Malevolence narrowed his eyes at the wind. "on what manner of payment you require." -- Unintelligible took a moment to process all that had happened between the the 'master of destruction' and Rebus. Then he turned to Sequence. "Alright, I don't think we're going to learn anything else by standing around in an abandoned burning castle. Ready to go invite the next threat out to tea?" @Sequence
  24. Hard to say, some of the Roshar vs. Scadrial threads were pretty good...
