  1. Malevolence wore a black cloak, violet eyes glittering in the shade of his hood, sword hilt just visible at his waist. "Hello. I am sure you all know who I am, but on the off chance you do not, I shall introduce myself." He spread his hands wide, grinning widely. "I am Malevolence. It was I who brought about your former master's end, and I who will lead you all to greatness." "A gift? No, it's not." Moni's eyes narrowed. "Endings is my burden to bear." You flatter him. He is far from the level of skill required for such a thing. Yours is not so bad himself. Now, shall we get on with Balitan's experiment? I could likely shape the energy as required, if I was allowed a little Prismite to work with.
  2. I know. It's called dramatic speech. -- Malevolence did not much want to have a tea party with the Machination. And the rabbits were... busy, anyways. No, there was one person in particular with whom Malevolence wished to have a tea party. He'd built an evil beacon just to attract her attention. @Sequence But as she was not much active at the moment, Malevolence turned his attention to other matters. Plotting for power was all well and good, but it wasn't an excuse to stop doing evil. Especially not when he had such a perfect opportunity for it. He sent a signal out to those who had once followed Malan, summoning them to him. @TwinStorm "It's Endings. The Plotblade. Do you not recognize it?" Moni shrugged. "The name is self-explanatory."
  3. Regulus poked at his stew, remembering once more the words of his mother. "How many times do I have to tell you! If the food's over a month old, throw it out!" Looking down at his stew, Regulus wondered what time last month the stew was from. It was possibly still safe. The woman was distracted, so he couldn't ask her. Perhaps... he poked the something with his spoon. It didn't look too bad all things considered... So lost in thought was he, that he missed what the man was saying. When he finally noticed the man, he blinked, looking up. "Hello? Sorry, did you say something? I missed it." I suppose we can only wonder. Considering his goals, he probably has some grand scheme for total domination of the Thread. -- As a matter of fact, Malevolence was at that moment searching for someone to have a tea party with.
  4. Regulus frowned, placing a few coins on the counter. "No rooms is fine, I won't be in town long. Perchance you might have some stew?" He sat down at the counter. "So, does anyone in town know where the dragon is?"
  5. Regulus found this naming scheme oddly familiar, but he couldn't quite place where it was from. Regardless, he headed inside to find some answers about the kidnapping.
  6. Regulus thought that many of the houses could be defined as a 'big wooden building'. But he supposed that the big one at the center of the town was probably what the nondescript person was referring to. He hurried over to it, scouring the buildings near to it for any sign of an inn.
  7. Regulus considered the words of the ol' adventurer. There were a lot of them, and once again their translation took some time and effort. Eventually, he frowned. "I still don't know where the dragon is. Best to go to the local inn and ask about it." He hurried over to someone standing on the side of the street. "Excuse me. Do you happen to know where the inn is?"
  8. A.) A cousin recommended the Way of Kings to me, and I read it. Loved it, quickly read all the other ones. I was maybe 14-15? Possibly older, it's hard to say. B.) I honestly can't remember how I found the shard. Maybe my mom heard about it somewhere? Anyways, I joined in 2019, and got involved into theories and TLT fairly quickly. C.) My original username was actually an acronym. (llstml, if anyone want to figure out what it stands for, go ahead). I changed it when getting into TLT, and deciding that a Narrator named 'llstml' didn't make a lot of sense. I thought about it for a while and eventually settled on Nameless as a cool name.
  9. Perhaps we'll find out once we get one of those rabbits for study. "Mighty weapon... I suppose you could call it that." Moni stared at Endings. "I've rarely found it to be useful. Despite how much everyone else seems to fear it." Regulus frowned. This was quite odd. Perhaps, he decided, the princess had not been well-liked by her people. He peered at the skyline of the town, searching for the castle where the king no doubt lived. Surely he, or his advisors if the king himself was too overcome with grief to speak with adventurers personally, would have further information.
  10. Moni blinked tears from her eyes as she spun slowly around. There was Kion, Palsu, Perseus, and Faunus. They all seemed to be unconscious at the moment. Reflexively, she strained against her bonds, trying to reach a hand to her side where Endings was normally kept. Yes, their forces have been quiet since the Witherlord was sealed. Nameless held up a fuzzy finger. I will point out that withergeists are also far more deadly when they have a bond.
  11. "Ah, thanks." Regulus didn't look particularly surprised by this explanation. He continued walking in silence, eventually reaching the village. @LessName
  12. Regulus nodded slowly, considering this. As he considered this, the advice of his father came to mind. "Son, if a Narrator ever offers you three boons, not wishes, but boons, then you should first remember what I told you about protecting your thoughts from Narrators. Then, you should-" Regulus stood with a blank look on his face for a good half minute. Finally, he spoke. "Having a father who sees the future can be confusing sometimes. Thank you for the boons."
  13. It took a moment for the gears of Regulus's mind to process this, decrypting the old man's crude dialogue into a more processable form of language. As the old adventurer crossed a corner far down the road, Regulus gasped. "A princess has been kidnapped! And whoever saves her gets her hand in marriage?" His words sparked another memory of fond parental advice. This time, it was his mother's voice that filled his head. "Regulus Leviticus Venture! If you so much as think of coming home married to some princess you met three days before the wedding, without so much as sending me a letter telling me and your father where that ceremony was to take place, I will hang the both of you out to dry with your little brothers' dirty socks!" "Hm. Maybe I could just go for half the kingdom instead." Mused Regulus. Nevertheless, he set off on the same path as the old man had followed. (For the astute Narrator who is wondering why Regulus's thoughts are once again privy to any with the knack for reading posts, it was because he had not yet remembered this vitally important piece of his father's advice regarding the protection of thoughts: "And remember, the most important thing is that you employ this technique constantly. If you let your mind slip, your thoughts will be as unprotected as anyone else's")
  14. Hm. Perhaps. Or perhaps Withergeists are weaker because their nature is antithetical to existence.
  15. Regulus frowned, momentarily confused. "I do?" Understanding dawned as he remembered some more wisdom from his father. "Now son, if you ever meet a Narrator, the first thing you're going to want to do is shield your thoughts from their Narration. It's a relatively simple technique. All you have to do is-" Regulus stared blankly ahead for a few more seconds, then continued speaking. "Nice to meet you Symbol! I presume you're a Narrator?"
  16. Regulus didn't blink. His parents had long drilled into him the ways of adventuring in TLT, and his father's words ran through his mind as he turned to greet the mysterious woman. "Son, always remember the guiding rule of TLT: If someone appears next to you without explanation, then they're most likely a Narrator. So be polite." Back in the present, Regulus broke the somewhat awkward silence that had ensued while he replayed his flashback. "Yes, I am. I'm Regulus, what's your name?" "Why don't you want anyone entering Ragnorok?" Moni twisted to make herself spin so she could see the rest of the tent.
  17. A few things may have led to this misconception. First, the Narrativium in your core is substantially more dense than that in the dream crystal you gave to Balitan. Second, your clones are, unless specifically cut off, linked to one another, and will share energy. Third, you are correct in assuming that there’s an external source of Narration. Ambient Chaotic Light energy can be commanded by Narrators, and the Thread is filled with it. Beyond that, they subconsciously absorb it over time, replenishing their strength. Moni sighed. “What does Surtur want to judge us for?”
  18. @LessName's: About? Mine: pancakes are good.
  19. The Wise Judge frowned. "Selppaenip. To clarify your intent, do you mean to prove that the Great Wizard did not organize the group that spied upon our council and later caused so much damage while attempting escape, both in our organization and later when we tracked them down?" "Ooh, that's a good one. I hardly ever get to Narratively control people. Rather taboo these days." Subversion stepped forward, cracking her knuckles loudly. "All right. Who's first? Any volunteers?" The Dreamsmith nodded in agreement. Then, mechanical jaw curling upward into a grin, he interjected: "Aside from myself, naturally." -- Regulus Venture woke up at dawn on the day he would leave for his great adventure, excited to begin this new chapter of his life. His mother had other ideas and made him stay in bed until half past eight so she could fix breakfast. Around nine-thirty in the morning when he finally got out the door he strapped on his sword, swung his cloak around his shoulders, received a few sage words of advice from his father, and stepped out the door with a spring in his step. He made it halfway down the winding lane that led down the hill and into the woods before his mother called him back sharply, holding his pack of supplies in her hand. Around ten o'clock in the morning, after managing to escape the hugs of his mother and younger siblings, Regulus Venture, son of Eof, set off on his first quest.
  20. Moni woke up with a splitting headache, eyes squeezed shut. She felt the odd buzzing sensation that she always did when the Authors didn't quite know where she was, and decided not to open them, but hoped the Authors would soon figure that out. @TwinStorm
  21. "Yep!" Subversion waved to the students. "I promised not to transform any of you into radioactive laser slugs, so there's no need to be afraid!" "If you do, then perhaps I could even forge you a weapon." The Dreamsmith smiled wistfully. "That... would be nice." He pulled out his hourglass again and checked it. More than half of the sand was now in the bottom bulb. "Our time draws short. Be careful. The dread Plotblades are close to being found. Soon, hopefully, I will be called upon to reforge those Blades."
  22. The Priest nodded. "I wish you well." He walked back into the room with Bat and Mrs. Whitlock, thanked her for her hospitality, and left out the front door.
  23. "Very good." The Priest turns to leave. "I trust you'll talk to Bat, once he wakes up?"
  24. The Priest raised an eyebrow right back. "I am giving you advice. You don't have to take it, but I thought that since you obviously care about Bat, you would not wish to leave the poor man hanging in uncertainty. Even a fool could see that he's more to you than a friend, but refusing to talk about it, positing yourselves as mere friends repeatedly in front of his family when it is clear you are more, that sort of thing can be hurtful to anyone." His frown deepened. "If you continue in this state of uncertainty, then perhaps Bat will begin to believe you when you say he is just a friend. Perhaps he will believe that despite your affectionate actions towards each other, you do not truly feel the same towards him as he feels towards you. Perhaps you will begin to believe him. Even if neither of you truly believes this, the seed of doubt will be within your minds. Why allow such a seed to fester when it is so easy to remove?"
  25. "Then make it official." The Priest said sternly. "You should have done so before beginning to act as if you were in a relationship, but rectifying that now is the best course of action."
