  1. I was not the original inventor of the lore. Nor do I control it. I merely safeguard the lore from fools like you. Discovering new creatures and forms of fundamental magic is a highly dangerous process, one that should not be done by the inexperienced. "Traveler?" The guard laughed darkly. "No travelers here. Not since..." His gaze briefly slid up to the darkness surrounding the city, then snapped back to Rebel. "No travelers." He muttered. Moni frowned. "Palsu, why couldn't we all use your device?" "It only works on one person at a time." Palsu replied. "Please, you've all done so much for me. I can do this. I'll run out, draw away their attention, then you can get them away from here with your powers. I'll use my device to get away, then meet back up with you later. You're going to meet up with the resistance, right? I can probably find my way to them." "I accept your pledge." The floor beneath the body rippled, drawing the corpse into the ground and replacing it with a raised platform. "That teleporter will take you as near to the city as it safely can. Any who wish to serve me may step onto it." He spread his arms wide, raising his voice dramatically. "Deliver unto them my ultimatum: relinquish unto me the sacred artifacts of the kingdom or be devoured in the night." "I suppose we could visit him." Unintelligible said. "From what I hear, he is unpredictable. And utterly evil. Perhaps we could-" Malevolence appeared in a crackle of lightning. "I hope I'm not too early." He said levelly. Unintelligible pulled a revolver on the villain, which Malevolence ignored. A chair appeared behind him with a few sparks and he sat down in it slowly, wincing slightly as he bent his knees, which were still in hi-tech casts. "You're Sequence, yes? I have heard much of you."
  2. As Rebel approached the castle at the center of the city, a guard called out to him. “Ho there! Halt and declare yourself in the King’s name!” Nameless glared at Symbol, eyes fully distinct and filled with utter contempt. Narrators like you are the reason this thread has fallen so far. Ignoring the lore, doing whatever you want regardless of how impossible it is. Just admit that you mutated yourself on purpose!
  3. Of course I don’t! But if I did, I would be just fine. I could easily insulate myself from the dangerous properties of anything containing Prismite. We weren’t even MAKING a withergeist! It was a Narration-energy equivalent we tried to produce! Tried and failed!
  4. Yes, because you made something happen. That’s against all the laws of fairness! Bonding doesn’t even work that way even though f we had succeeded! You both have to be willing. You don’t just drink a withergeist.
  5. The experiment was a failure! Nothing should have happened! — Audio device appeared. “I might be evil, but I’m not Narrator. Rebus the Narrator, if this is indeed a clone of him, already has a Plotblade, and he currently seeks one of the most powerful of them all. I fear he plans to use you and your people to further his already great power.”
  6. Narrators these days. You’re almost as bad as Mythos used to be. Nameless thought petulantly.
  7. You’re a Narrator aren’t you? Even if it was mutagenic it shouldn’t have had any lasting effects on you. I think you’re just faking for dramatic effect.
  8. Palsu raised a hand. “I could distract them. I have a… concealment device. It was given to me by my former master. Something to help me complete my missions. It’s… how I was hiding from the Faceless.” — Malevolence glared at the crowd. “I have a mission for you. There is a city besieged by darkness. Go to their leaders. Offer them terms of surrender.” “Hm.” A curious look came over Balitan’s face. “I suppose, if I were immortal…” What’s happening to her? What I created shouldn’t have any such effect. Nameless’ mental voice sounded snappy. “No, I don’t-“ Unintelligible blinked. “Hang on. There actually is one more name. ‘Malevolence’? Funny I didn’t notice it till now.” A note appeared next to the engineer in a crackle of lightning. It read: The person to which you speak, ‘Dr.’ Rebus, is actually a depowered clone of or agent of a Narrator. Sincerely, the enemy of your enemy
  9. "Kion could make us invisible, couldn't he?" Moni looked at Kion. "Would that be possible?" @Dragonheir "didn't you hear Nameless? It's radioactive."
  10. "Huh." It's causing some Narrative radiation. I can feel it, now that I know what to look for. Balitan looked up from behind a blast wall. "What possessed you to want to drink it?" "We should be able to just sneak out." Palsu said. "They don't seem to have noticed us."
  11. "Yes, well." Balitan flipped his screen around. "It seems that Nameless converted some of the energy into matter, and it's interfering with my readings. I can't tell what's causing that humming, either." "You see now how I punish dissension." Black smoke leaked from the cut made by his blade. "Follow me and you will see true greatness. Prove yourselves, and you will be rewarded." Moni summoned Endings back to her side. "Any idea where we are?"
  12. More than a thousand, I'd say. Balitan looked at the readout from the scanning. "These readings are rather... odd." Malevolence laughed, bringing the sword down through the man's head. Palsu lunged for it, again grabbing for Endings. Moni burst out from behind the elephant. "Surrender! We have a Narrator now. You've got no chance."
  13. It may be a liquid form of Prismite, or it may just be regular matter infused with Prismite. I was drawing on the concept of mist, and may have created actual liquid for the creature. Balitan quickly took a sample of the residue and started running tests on it. "What?" Unintelligible frowned. "No, I don't."
  14. Malevolence's grin widened at the man's struggles. The liquid metal of the floor spread upwards along the man's legs, binding him more and more. Slowly, casually, Malevolence lifted his blade for the killing stroke. Palsu managed to force the shade's stab to the side, grunting with effort. Desperation growing on his face, he headbutted the shade.
  15. Nameless's form came into focus fully for the first time, revealing him to be a man with brown hair and blue eyes, although the eye color was hard to make out through the glow that now filled them. I think... I almost... have it. The Narration took on a definite shape, things that could be limbs moving in the difficult-to-explain space. Abruptly, Nameless gave a cry that was actually physical, the first sound he'd made since his activation. The energy exploded within Rebus's containment unit, leaving a liquid-like residue behind. Ah. Bother. I almost had it.
  16. Well we're getting married in a few few months so yeah. FINE
  17. Maybe it shouldn't have, but considering I have all brothers and so very little experience with any girls besides her, I can just feel lucky and not horrified at her incredible(ly wonderful) oddness.
  18. Also, she doesn't expect me to text with emojis. And she bears with my horrendous texting skills in general.
  19. Because they say things they don't mean and don't say what they do mean. (Not @LessName though, she's a northerner at heart)
  20. I know. They're terrifying. Except for @LessName. She's cute. Edit - and terrifying still, of course. More terrifying than anyone else actually.
  21. The floor underneath the man melted into liquid, pulling him downwards and causing his swing to miss. "I hope you didn't expect a fair fight." Malevolence walked casually towards the man, allowing his sword to drag along behind him, leaving a slight gash in the floor. "He got out somehow, in all the confusion when Faunus woke up." Palsu cursed, letting go of the Plotblade's hilt with one hand so he could smash something sharp into the Shade's arm. I know what withergeists are like generally. I just have never had the opportunity for extensive study of one. Regardless, I will try. Nameless' eyes took on an iridescent sheen, and the Narrative energy began to warp and distort. Slowly, it began to take on an indistinct form.
  22. "Indeed." Malevolence held his blade in a guard position, making no move to advance. "Your move." "The Shade still has it, I think." Moni struggled to her feet, shrugging off the cut ropes. "You all right? Did you see where Palsu went?" Palsu leapt at the Shade from behind, seizing the rusted Plotdagger by the hilt and attempting to wrest it from the dark foe.
  23. Nameless took the Prismite, and it began glowing softly. Balitan? What precisely do you wish me to do with this? "Well... I'm not entirely certain." Balitan walked over to his computer screen and began searching through his databases. "I have extremely limited information on the composition of withergeists. Perhaps just... create a character from diffuse Prismite?" Nameless' indistinct form rolled its eyes. So you have no idea either? All right, I'll try. He closed his eyes, the glow of the Prismite increasing in strength.
  24. "Very well." Malevolence threw aside his cloak, revealing high-tech casts on both of his legs and his right arm, as well as what looked like a life-support system on his chest. "You shall be an example for all the rest of these." With his left hand, he drew his Mordite blade. Moni struggled uselessly against her bonds, spinning helplessly. Even if she summoned Endings back to her hand, she doubted she'd be able to use it precisely enough to destroy only her bonds, and she was tied to carefully for it to be of any use as a traditional knife. She-wait, where was Palsu? His bonds hung empty.
  25. "Because I am far more dangerous, intelligent, and powerful than any of you can imagine." Malevolence made no move to draw his own sword, smile remaining on his face. "Do you seek to challenge me for leadership of this organization?" "I'm afraid that's not how it works." Moni noticed Faunus had awoken. Perhaps she would be able to do something about their situation.
