      Bearer of all agonies

Haha. It really matches your rep title. Nice one.

  2. You mixed up Siah and Dysian Aimians. The Sleepless are Dysian. And hey, be nice, they prefer the term "hordelings" over "cremlings"
  3. Hmm not really, historically Urithiru wasn't quite a kingdom, and had ten thrones from the ten Silver Kingdoms, it was the headquarters of the Knights Radiant. Now, the inhabitants of Urithiru are mostly Alethi. Rulership is a very human concept. Besides, the current Bondsmith of the Tower isn't Dalinar.
  4. Welcome to the Shard!
  5. Hmm... Are you saying if he didn't become a Knight Radiant at the end of Words of Radiance, he wouldn't have been in his position? He became the leader of the coalition by virtue of his reputation and being the de facto leader of the Alethi. Dalinar has been trying to be meritocratic from the time he was Blackthorn but he is still very much a believer of hierarchy. His argument would've been less born to rule, more has training in ruling and people listen to them but the end result would've been the same. Even if Navani wasn't a Knight Radiant, leadership would likely still have passed on to her, or Jasnah.
  6. People who don't like Moash, you're gonna love this
  7. It's a very plausible theory, @KandraAllomancer. , the Dawnshard that could "Bind all things mortal and Voidish" and that is the Dawnshard not like the rest because it was Corrupted. Did she stop using it? Maybe she just go imprisoned with it or she could only use it once. We know too little about Dawnshards.
  8. "The Black Fisher takes my sorrow and consumes it" according to a Death Rattle and "a feeling of draining" as per Axies... Yeah, it's a good theory for Cusicesh's nature Maybe there's why Axies came to see Cusicesh so late, one would think he'd find unique spren more interesting. Maybe Cusicesh wasn't there before. But I'd also be very surprised that as an immortal Aimian and spren cataloguer he wouldn't be able to connect one of the Unmade with what he's seeing. I think that Unmade were Cusicesh level spren before they were unmade by Odium, and Cusicesh is just one that got away, is a more likely theory
  9. Are we not counting Ashyn? They used the Surges there, possibly using a Dawnshard, possibly with Investiture supplied by Odium as per the Stormfather and Syl.
  10. Welcome to the Shard! I think we've all cried at some point or another while reading these books...
  11. In Oathbringer chapter 115 Venli sees a Thunderclast soul and remarks about it being a twisted Singer soul.
  12. Abundance, Harvest (it's in their username)
  13. Who are some of your other favourite authors, @Strongest Nerd?
  14. I know only four active members who use Aons in their usernames: Ene, Ese (fanon Aon), Tia (name change! Originally The Traveller), Ati. Plus one new member TiaOmi
  15. Sup, welcome to the Shard!
  16. @beejsbj, although that is a good point, LGBT representation in literature tends to be pretty handwavy, with (usually external) comments about how differently a fantastical society treats LGBT people but the interactions seen in text usually reflecting Earth standard behaviour, with meta-commentary from the author. So far, it's been the same in Sanderson's works.
  17. Prologue! Who voted for Kaves? Why? P.S. wow, that's a really obscure reference in your Ookla name Ew, who voted for Elhokar (don't answer that, you like Elhokar, that's... nice, my opinion on him can be summed up as ew)
  18. Dalinar would probably go with the line of succession (modified), I mean, Navani's already the queen of Urithiru and Bonded to the tower spren. Dalinar has shown himself to be a monarchist too, and he probably won't invite (another) succession crisis by naming Kaladin as his heir.
  19. I don't think Radiancy is the path for him. Whatever Bond he and Maya share, it's not the Bond between Shardblade and wielder or the Nahel Bond. It's almost a mirror image of the Nahel Bond, where the human fills in the cracks in the Spiritweb of the spren, instead of the reverse. So clearly in the next book Maya is going to discover new Words and summon Adolin as a Shardblade! Adolin will be very confused about this development but very supportive. On a more serious note, what they're discovering could be a way to reverse what happened in the Recreance, not just reviving the dead blades but digging into the cause of it with Ba-Ado-Mishram and the fact that a bond with humans would be the way to heal Deadeyes would go a long way in bettering human-spren relationship. Plus, I've said this many times but again, not every character needs to be a Radiant to be awesome. It's the Stormlight Archives, not Keeping Up With The Kholins. and is Maya even ready to Bond again? Surely she would need some time to heal. P.S. Love the Avatar-themed thread title!
  20. Maybe because it's kind of like the equivalent of drinking alcohol to warm up (you're actually not warming up, your capillaries are dilating, making you feel warm, you're actually putting yourself in more danger from the cold this way). It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside! And then you die of hypothermia anyway! Imagine that! Or maybe the two metals were intentionally switched by Preservation. We know that Preservation can do that, as that's how Atium Mistings were created. The Terrismen and later on the Southern Scadrians lived in cold climate, they needed some way to keep warm. Electrum would've been a dang expensive way to stay warm, brass would've been better, so Preservation or Harmony switched the two metals' functions in Feruchemy! The real reason is it was just an error but Brandon decided it was too late and too much to retcon so it's just a hole in the understanding of in-world scholars.
  21. Hear, hear Also hear, hear First of all, Kaladin is a sexual being, Syl is a Cognitive being with barely any substance and she does not feel sexually attracted to anyone. Spren reproduce asexually and we haven't seen any romantic spren pairings either. Second of all, I'm not quite sure why, but the idea of human-spren relationships feel repugnant. Maybe inter-species just makes me go ick. Third of all, what they have is already a significant relationship. A romantic relationship is not the natural progression of all good relationships, friendship is good too.
  22. Welcome to the Shard! We're not really supposed to discuss the books with any depth in the intro topics, it's more of a meet-and-greet, ask favorites (and least favourites), other authors, occasional riddles. You should pose the question on the forum proper in Cosmere Q&A or the Rhythm of War spoiler board. Here's a non-serious (or is it actually non-serious?) answer to your question. Maya will say the words and heal herself and learn to summon Adolin as a Shardblade! Adolin will be very confused about this development but very supportive. Look forward to seeing you around, @Mayalaran
  23. All of them are speculations we've seen before yet seeing them brought together like this is strangely goosebumps inducing, which says good things about this series. That being said, you make a really good case for Ba-Ado-Mishram having a Dawnshard, except what if she is the Dawnshard? I don't mean it in the way that the readers of Dawnshard would think, but that Ba-Ado-Mishram is herself the Corrupted Dawnshard?
  24. @joesleepsalot, I think you may be right ~ Chapter 111 Unchained, Rhythm of War He has the biggest Connection to Honor, which is why he makes deals on behalf of Honor and presumably why he spoke in all caps here.
